When the Garmin is in the new flush mount do you unplung the transducer and power cables or grease them and leave in and just disconnect the battery please? Looking at the striker 4 cv Cheers!

Where do we get to see the videos on the new kayak please Dick?
@murd1014 күн бұрын
I recently retrofitted a new Garmin GT20 transducer into my Fish 460 by cutting a hole in the hull and mounting the tranny into a small custom-built fibreglass box glassed into the hull from above after the floor was re-glassed for strength (I needed to fit a new 4" screw-hatch above the area to make it possible.). The tranny sits just above the hull line with a direct view to the ocean floor. I don't know why in your design you fitted a cover plate to shoot through which wouldn't give a 100% perfect echo return? I believe my design is much better than yours but you do need to fit that new access hatch in the rear to make it possible. Plus, all that excess cable that you stuck under the cover for some reason can be easily tied off beneath the new access hatch.

Is the the fight of this fish that linear like it looks like with the cam point of view ? It looked a lot like what the big cat fish are delivering in Europe : a lot of torque but not that much speed and punch .... it is so different from what I felt fishing little caranguidae ( GT and Selene ) in Guadeloupe

Hi Brett, at 5'40" as soon as you ar sitting into your ski, you get an impressive speed dragged by the fish

So 32kg for us is 70.5lbs!? we fish couta here a lot and never seen a 70! And I’m talking a boat or yak? That is awesome! I think what yall call a shad we call a bluefish but we will use those live, and walla are what we call a ribbonfish and we use those a lot. Love these interviews! Appreciate yall doing them and the folks sharing their time and stories! Cheers!
@StealthkayakfishingАй бұрын
Yes that's right our shad are your Bluefish and the walla is a ribbonfish for you. I think the Couta or King Mackerel may be a different species of couta or Mackerel than what you get on your coast and why ours get so big! You will need to come over on a Stealth Adventure and come hunt one of these monsters!
@Jake-ky9edАй бұрын
@ I know the “spanish” Australians call em are narrow barred mackerel Our “spanish” don’t get like more than 2.5kilos!!! I’ll have to look into the couta/king deal?? Just interesting is all - but for now Imma call our kings coutas and get strange looks from my fishing buddies - I have been to SA once, place near Zeerust, no where near the coast but loved the country, don’t threaten me with a good time if you have a ski I could snag!

We call them ribbonfish here, when I was a kid we’d fish for them at night under lights, then sale them to the mackerel fisherman for like 10$ a piece but being hook and line caught they’d not be scratched up just nice and shiny like mirrors. Never used them off a yak? Does he just drift them or keep on a steady pace? Cheers yall

Carl " The Grandmaster" awesome to see you on Legends of the Yak. Many an hour spent paddling with you at Umdloti. Will never forget the day we got some croc couta off the mouth. Watching you take yours out the hatch when we beached and me saying to you that mine was bigger than yours,and you saying never it's not possible. But yes it was. Take care bud.
@byronsymons40432 ай бұрын
How awsome seeing my mentor Carl is definitely a legend. He took me out on my very 1st trip on his old Neptune ski, got to backside at dloti came.off and Carl had to come fetch me, then after landing my 1st cuta 12kg Carl tells me I need to head in cause the ski takes on water 😮😂😂 get to backside remember I've never been in the ocean in my entire life, thanks to old Darryn Bunyan who helped me get in. But from that day I was hooked.

Completely wrong. Several things are wrong with this repair. Fiberglass resin won’t adhere properly to a smooth surface. General purpose resin is very poor quality. Adding powders to stop the resin isn’t necessary on a horizontal repair and it massively weakens the resin and doesn’t allow for the resin to soak into the matting. I usually use body filler or gel coat over the repair to completely hide the repair. I could go on and on ….

Live bait is swallowed head first.A latge hook in the mouth is incorrect. Correct method is a small hook just to hold the bait with a second large hook between the underbelly fins which is a strong position.any Garrick swallowing this will get hooked when he tries to eject this or when you strick.never miss a fish like this.

Best part is we all have our methodsand lovesoharing different ideas and ways.We appreciate the feedback. I will give it a go but this tried and tested method on a kayak has always brought excellent results.

Yes definitely, you would just need to rig it according to your bait. The Spanish Mackerel is the same as what we call Couta or King Mackerel.

Great tutorial as always. Could we please have a video on down rigging baits on elastic bands. Its not spoken about enough. Things like what weight sinkers to use according to the depth youre fishing, how far to set your elastic from your trace, how far to let it down before you start trolling and any other insights that you may have on the topic. Thanks gents, keep up the good work, really enjoying the content.

FYI. Rob mentions his brother-in-law died. I had the pleasure of being friends with Peter O'Brien, met them in Sydney. Pete also was instrumental in me starting Kayak Fishing. Pete O'Brien was an accomplished paddler, did the duzi many times, love his ocean kayak fishing.
@SeanvanderWalt2 ай бұрын
Cool Brett. But why choose a small, medium, or large blade ? What's the difference? Efficiency vs cadence. Why a winged paddle vs a flat paddle ? What about blade angles ? Overall Weight of paddle ? Carbon vs std polyster or plastic. Another whole topic is paddling technique, maybe not for surd wki or ocean skin racing, but for bursts in impact zone vs efficiency paddling to maintain a few hrs kayak fishing in open ocean.
@Stealthkayakfishing2 ай бұрын
smaller blaed more acceleration in surf zone... bigger blade little better over long distancesand of course once you feel comfortable pulling a bigger blade along... bigger blade will make you tire quicker over smaller blade that is "easier " to pull through the water...
