Thankfully P42 number 9 would Return to Service with Amtrak however it's life wouldn't last long as in 2020 she was involved in another accident in MN when it hitted a John Derre Tractor while leading AMTK Train 9 and sadly is Stored away in Beach Grove with other Stored Units.

Anpther traumatic experience for an engineer and his assistant. When will people learn that flashing lights and an engine horn means business. Those tracks are on what is called RIGHT OF WAY. That means trains - the larger tonnage - don't stop for toys The small tonnage. It should be like covid - you get hit, take care of it yourself - By the way, your insurance pays for the damage to the engine. You can junk your car.

I can speak from experience. It sucks being a passenger on these trains and incidents because you are stuck on the train for hours. On Oct 3, 2021 P091 was traveling through plant city, FL and struck a car and killed the driver. Over 2 hours sitting there and then we were allowed to go to Tampa and turn around and came back and held for almost another hour. people need to pay attention at Railroad Crossings

I have heard it is a helpless feeling no way to stop and you see it happen. And nothing you can do. But watch. Gives us bus drivers a lot of understanding why we watch video after video and go by the process to a T. We had one try the double tracks and can't clear both to stop sign. No train but driver will never do that again !
