Hi Ellis, have been watching your channel since lockdown when we had a holiday to Dalyan cancelled and went on KZbin to watch a few videos of the area. I christened your channel “hard women walking” because your videos from the Lycian Way and Carian Way were truly epic. I’m a keen hiker and have walked a number of long distance paths in the UK but nothing as tough as that. The fact that both of you kept on going and completed them was fantastic to watch. I shall miss your videos of Dalyan, I’ve been going there on holiday for over thirty years and have great memories hiking around the area. Good luck to you and Ken on your future travels

We've been to Dalyan quite a few times, this past summer we have really started to explore Kaunos. We watched your lovely videos, thank you. It was a real delight that we bumped into you twice during our last visit in August. We hope that we will cross paths again as we would love to share some time with you. Thank you again for your most enjoyable videos.

@AtHomeInTurkey5 күн бұрын

@@AtHomeInTurkey Perhaps I will send a private mail, thanks. In my prior reply to your post I wanted to raise a more generic topic (in Turkey (elderly expats)). I compare myself with your husband (only for me) ((legs) walking max 200 m at the time, rheuma, lung emboly, throwing up frequently, epilepsy (once per 1 or 2 weeks), not being able to control stools, ...). Very annnoying and inconvenient. Very important my brain still works (a bit), I have seen dementia with some people (and I think it is worse then physical)) I think many people have a similar challenges, but honestly did you look at expenses (including taxes)? Netherlands are horrible (but perhaps so is France?) Anyhow I like your posts, what I do not like that you ignore finances (taxes), I do not understand that you do not go to Netherlands, of course if you are Dutch and you are married to an American you are allowed (even with the current government). I am sad. Take care of yourself and your husband. My wife takes care of me (FULLY) even if I am incapacitated, my wife went for a few tourist tours (very disappointing as she says) Where I am disappointed you claim you have sent out from Turkey (I do not believe (you have a property, ...)) France (please investigate I would say)
@AtHomeInTurkey5 күн бұрын
_@christiaanjansen9800 I think you are being very grumpy You say: Where I am disappointed you claim you have sent out from Turkey (I do not believe (you have a property, ...)) I can stay because I have the house that is correct. Ken can't ok! Being married is not enough.The house is in my name and that has to stay that way. And as I have explained in my videos I can not get the long term here in Turkey so as soon as I have to go and live smaller because of age I will be made to leave too. Sale will be after 2022 and no apartment I will ever buy will be worth 200.000 euros (look it up on the government website) You say: Anyhow I like your posts, what I do not like that you ignore finances (taxes), I do not understand that you do not go to Netherlands, of course if you are Dutch and you are married to an American you are allowed (even with t_ he current government). - Bull shit. If I don't have enough income to stay legal in Turkey how on earth am I going to live in Holland you think? And how do I ignore finances I have looked into the expenses plus I lived in France before and have a few friends to ask those things. This is not asking questions. This is being judge metal and assuming things.

Good for you! I'm new to your channel, and of course I don't know you, but I've got a good feeling about all of this and your future. Why? Because something that no one will ever be able to take away from you is your indomitable spirit and positive outlook. I always think of an episode of the Simpsons when they are on holiday in China and things go badly wrong, and wise Lisa says to Homer - "Dad, don't worry. Did you know that the Chinese use the same word for crisis as for opportunity?" Homer says "Yes Lisa - Crisitunity!" Maybe this is your 'Crisitunity'! Best wishes👍🙂

@@AtHomeInTurkey No, we had a invitation from a turkish friend. He gave up his home, so there is no posibility any more. Secondly, we are boatpeople and there is the strange law, that you have to stay outside turkey 185 days when you check out with boat from TR and will come back to TR when you have ikamet. This we don't want to have any more. Now we try 90/180. 3 month turkey is enough!

Sorry that you are leaving turkey. But happy you are being positive and have found somewhere to have new adventures. Ellis and Timo will now explore francais. Thanks for your wonderful content over the last 3 years. I was walking in knypersley country park recently and got talking to a man and lady who said they had spent time in your village in turkey . They spoke well about you. Unfortunately they had to leave. The man was struggling a little and said he had caught sepsis. Didn't catch his name but he referred to his partner as Jan. It's a small world I hope you enjoy exploring the larger world. It is turkeys loss. Take care and good luck
