You missed the point he was making on the encumberance part. He said that the feedback he gets is that the UI is bad, but the untold reason why the UI is bad is because it doesn't serve the amount of items that the player can hold in their inventory. So maybe the encumberance value is too high and the UI would work better if the player could hold less items, maybe the game doesn't actually need encumberance and it should be removed and a better UI should be designed, or maybe the game really needs that specific value for encumberance so a better UI is necessary. But without telling that the problem is the amount of items the dev might go "hey we fixed the UI issues, it now loads really fast and shows your most used items on top."

I think I know why modders can do better jobs, is simply because they are not in the development circle. I bet actual devs can do just as good job, but working as big group hinders the ability to hand them quick fix. Finish one task, hand it in work on next thing, on and on. I understand they can't just ignore the next task and go back to the thing that already done month, or years ago.

Do what Bethesda does. Release a half-assed, defective game and invite the modders to fix it....

I think devs DO know what their audience wants, but they also want to capture multiple audiences, spread the demographics around, and then hand that already thin but still connected idea to a publisher, marketing departments, and a "creative" publisher CEO who has to slap their own personal brand for "recognition value" onto it. What devs don't know is how to SELL their game to the largest audience in the most profitable way possible with the fewest resources while appeasing corporate interests first and last. Fans of demographic A say its too fast, fans of demographic B say its too slow, but demographic C says they like the speed so the devs do nothing because changing anything would statistically cost them more than fixing it for A or B and losing the other and risking parts of C.

I kinda find it funny, how one of his points is to be specific, while being general as fuck. Each genre, combined with other circumstances like price of the game, how big the budget/wait time was, AAA vs Indie, define what I want. I would also contradict myself every 2 sentence, if I'd dump all my different expectation for each genre and type of game blindly together. And don't make me even start of the expectations the devs themself (9/10 times AAA ofc) create, aka hype and false promises.

I love this JP because it has a bunch of opportunities to shortcut and speedrun (yes, even without dodge-jumping, at which I am Terrible), so it's very fun and close to my heart, and I can't wait for it to come back every year so I can try to improve

The reason GW2 players don't care is because "Pay-to-Win" really doesn't matter unless you're doing PvP. In PvE, it's irrelevant - And the majority of GW2 players are PvE players.

4:46:17 Lots of trial and error, a LOT of trial and error, i was there when this first came out, as you can imagine the place was full of players fumping all over the place and falling off. And i did this with a male norn character, in fact i did all jumping puzzles in the base game and season 1+2 with a male norn, and boy they are big fuckers, some of these jump puzzles were not made for max height male norns, the camera can get quite fucky sometimes, specialy in tight holes. And yes, fuck those jump pads. I don't remember if i ever got the diving spot on this one though.
