I do enjoy seeing Overlord content as I enjoy the games very much. As someone who has replayed the games recently it does get a bit tedious to listen to the plot points being listed off one by one. A few more jokes would probably work to break the monotony as your dry delivery is fairly humorous. One particular aspect I enjoy is the retrospective on the controls as I used an controller as opposed to mouse and keyboard.

To each their own for sure. Some fans swear by the 2D games and feel that Worms shouldn't have made the jump to 3D. Still, Team17 remains in business after more than thirty years.

I would respectfully disagree on the point that the Departed’s longer run time enhances the tension. The original is far more interested in the personal hells the two leads are in,due to living double lives. The remake wants to be a sprawling, complex mob drama - introducing entirely new (but unnecessary) characters and expanded screen time for characters that didn’t need it (of course, you don’t hire Nicholson to be the mob boss and not give him a meatier role). The extended run time would have been great if Scorsese had stuck with the 2 leads and glimpses into their private and public personas - but he used it differently.

I didn't grow up with them, only knew Armageddon growing up, but I absolutely adore the 3D worms games, they're everything that I used to love about the 6th gen. Amazing pleasing graphics, tons of fun weapons and tools, a freeform sandbox that feels more like a toybox than a set in stone game...And of course, local multiplayer! I'm fond of the later worms games too, but I wouldn't mind a new 3D worms games...Golf with your friends, overwooked and the other Team17 games are all amazing too.

I discovered Worms 4 some years ago after renting/owning the original Worms and Armageddon on PS1. I enjoy the 3D version to an extent as I love the Flood weapon especially, and the destruction and weapon customisation is great. Overall I’m not sure if it’s my favourite style of Worms but I’m glad it exists. Great video!!

Just got recommended your video this evening. I'll probably go reinstall the two games soon thanks to your video. There's nothing quite as goofily enjoyable as this series, and part of me hopes we get some sort of remake one day or at least a remaster. Very well done retrospective. Immediately subscribed and will work my way through your uploads 👍🏽

Many thanks for watching and subscribing, I'm glad my retrospective pulled you back into a unique series. If DICE can go back to Mirror's Edge and Creative Assembly can ressurect Alien Isolation, Triumph deserves to do the same for Overlord.

Some fans speculated that Overlord III could have focused on the first master escaping the infernal abyss and going head-to-head with his son, but it wasn't to be. One item I forgot to mention: Overlord II introduced a target swapping system that was controlled with the Z and C keys on PC. But it doesn't work very well, often getting stuck on two to three different targets and not allowing you to swap to others.

Just got done watching it.... took a solid two weeks to get through it 'cause it disturbed me to my core. Not so much because of the 'creature'.... but what WE, man can do to ourselves in the heat or in this case, the cold of the moment for survival. I LOVE horror movies, but not in a long time in my 40 years have I had a nightmare thinking about the characters in this drama.

That's the heart of the series right there; placing the characters in such a bleak and unwinnable situation despite having the best training and equipment of the time. Depending on the viewer, the monster can act as an extra layer on top of an already grim sense of dread.

I’m gonna have to give this show a thumbs down. I really really wanted to like it, I did, but I had some pretty big problems with it. 1) it just didn’t feel like the arctic. Time and again I had a feeling I was watching the portrayal of the arctic in a closed set. I’m sure there were some outside shots, especially when they got to the rocky areas, but they needed to send this crew up north and just brave the elements for awhile. 2) the monster. I was hoping for half survival movie, half monster movie, but the monster isn’t really in it that much. And of course, when it was it was 100% CGI, no practical effects whatsoever. Couldn’t even be bothered to make one paw for a closeup scene, or something? Nothing seems more real than good practical effects, except a real monster, of course. Coulda added a lot to this movie. 3) The very tiny amount of likable characters. What were there, like…5 actual good hearted sailors in this movie that didn’t do some kind of scheming or sedition, out of over a hundred? Obviously my disappointment comes from hoping for one thing and getting something different, which is going to bias someone’s point a view. A movie about this group of guys banding together to fight seemingly insurmountable odds would’ve been my preference. I could say more on this, but I feel like I just wasted 10 hours instead of watching something more to my liking. Different strokes for different folks I guess, as it’s clear a ton of people liked this show, but in the end I gave it a dislike, when all was said and done.

Good video. Serious and profesional, I like it. I really can't pick a favourite tittle. I'm one of the few (or at least it feels that way) who enjoyed the classics back in the 90s-2000s and the survivor, reboot trilogy, but I always pick a favourite of each era. For me, Tomb Raider 2 is the best of the classic era, Underworld from the legends saga and Rise of the Tomb Raider from the survivor saga. I dislike Tomb Raider IV and V, trying to kill Lara Croft was what made me step out of the franchise, not returning until Anniversary. IMO Tomb Raider IV was a bad game made out of spite, hating the players, the characters and the saga alike. It was an attempt to murder the franchise, to kill Lara Croft and her legacy, and Chronicles was a contractual obligation, a souless corporation product. However, Anniversary made me regain my deep love with Lara, and the reboot made a fan once more, I loved the survivor saga. And the remaster made me remember why I love Tomb Raider in the first place, every jump and shootout brings a happy memory of my childhood, and a hope for the future of both the franchise and it's main protagonist, the queen of this industry.

It's so interesting that Shadow is a culmination of the trilogy that truly takes a lot of feedback to heart and becomes the best of both classic Tomb Raider and Modern Tomb Raider. Challenging stealth and combat sequences, as we've gotten used to from Rise, paired with really solid puzzles required to go through the story. It becomes especially great when taking all the optional and DLC tombs into account, some real gems in there. My favourite is the howl of the monkey gods, it's so incredibly clever to have a giant killer orchestra to traverse.

I personally think Anniversary is the best TR game then Underworld and Legend. Earlier games are just hard to play and the newer games just killed Lara we loved, making the latest games no different from the bunch of others. Lara is just a whiny little girl without any skill and personality. It still frustrates me to see that people prefer the latest games as I understand while they are the baggiest and the heaviest to play (after the first games of course). TR is an exploration game not survival. Being in solitude was one of the best parts of the game as it gave you the sense of the mystery and discovery of something really ancient while in the new games tombs are more crowded than my city, everything falls apart, Lara constantly suffers, every second is a disaster (which also remind me of my city). It's extremely tiring and overwhelming to play. You never get a sense of accomplishment having found an artifact because it's 100% of the times taken away from Lara following the same scenario over and over again. Even if she finds an artefact it does absolutely nothing. You neither can use it nor you can do anything with it. They all lead to the same outcome at the end too - the world is the same as it used to be before, we saved the world and learned nothing about the mystery behind it. It's always a soapy ending. I think anniversary achieved the best balance in everything but we can never go back to the type of games as people appear to demand the same type of modern games as we get from the latest TR games being overly compacted with the elements from every game that has ever existed or so much realistic that it turns from relaxing to a nightmare so much so that the thought of playing the TR game from 1996 doesn't seem as bad and exhausting as the 2013 thrilogy. Sadly enough all of the games that I loved were recently rebranded and somehow turned into almost exactly the same type of game. I feel like Nancy Drew will soon become a survival shooter too where you will need to build your own shelter or something. I really miss TR vibe where artefacts or setting revealed a deeper mystery and truth about the world like in TR Underworld, Anniversary and Legend or even like we saw in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. Apparently that is not sold well enough so we will stick to the shootings:(
@CainageCritique
@CainageCritique 5 ай бұрын
That's interesting how Anniversary works best for you, getting the right balance between old and new. I can see why the intensity of the Survivor trilogy can feel like too much as well, especially when compared with the classics. To many long-time fans it just feels better when it's just you and Lara exploring the tombs and finding the solutions to the puzzles yourself. Given today's gaming market, it seems unlikely that we'll get that style and tone again unfortunately.
@eldstoper

@@CainageCritique absolutely so. I feel like everything just generally has been mashed and mixed together in different industries to get the best results but in reality they produce the same product with slightly different variations, it's been apparent the most in the gaming and music industries. The quantity and overall quality increase but somehow it feels like there is no variety. Maybe I just need to take a break.

Yeah, I've recently replayed the LAU trilogy, and man what a blast! Sadly we'll never get new games like that anymore I wish there were more games in Legend timeline Reboot is good for what it is, solid games, but it's not Lara, nor Tomb Raider I love Rise btw, but it's not "it", right I wish they made a more stylish Lara, over a super detailed realistic one It just feels bland, a normal person...pretty girl indeed, but just too normal Like, you don't look at the reboot Lara and say "she's the goat, badass!"

Definitely Eternal, it just pushes the genre forward so much I'm still in disbelief 4 years later. 2016 comes in second, and 64 takes bronze for me. It's such a shame many people thought 64 was just a port, because I personally like it even more than 1 and 2. Edit: I must add that I find Eternal to be a perfect sequel in the sense that it's so different in its approach to basically everything, it absolutely does not make 2016 obsolete. I just love how the two games complement each other. Eternal for pure, unadulterated strategic fast paced action; 2016 for more of an immersive adventure feel.
