I know im late for the giveaway but I'm still gonna say a story about my first shiny from SV. You always go down into area Zero to fight Turo or Sada myself i had the game for about 3 days at that point after it had instantly launched so i was hoping for shiny sounds so i never really paid attention but i had gotten lost in area zero looking around trying to find the right path to get down and in front of me a cyan glimmora appeared i was like "Wait Glimmora is purple since i completely stomped Geeta." So i encountered it and have had it ever since same with Torch my shiny Greavard who i got the day after.

I wanted 3 Shiny Pidgey in Lets' Go for the full evolution line. I had a shiny stone and my second Pidgey took 551 Catch Combo! Had the algorithm reccomend this video by the way! Loved it!

I’ll be honest I can’t fully remember, but I feel like it was either a free update for the game, or part of the Camp Cretaceous DLC that you have to purchase in the store. I’m fairly certain it was the DLC but if you have a look at what’s included it’ll tell you.

This video inspired me to start a fresh shiny-only run, really enjoyed all the tips. I find building the catch streak relaxing. But super funny story - I also tried to go for Pidgey first. Got to a streak of 180+ and who is the first shiny to appear? A Rattata, going for as much of a full shiny dex as possible so begrudgingly broke the streak and caught. Got another streak going on Pidgey, somewhere around 150’s…an ✨ Oddish ✨ appears 😂 😂 😂

That’s awesome dude, I love that! Yeah the hilarious thing about the catch combo is that it’s meant to be the best way to find a specific shiny, by boosting the odds of the species you’re catching, BUT, you’re seeing so many spawns on screen that you’re bound to find a few random ones while you’re doing it 😅😭 I think once I’ve finished the BDSP video I’m working on right now, I’m going to do an Eevee let’s go run with full odds and no use of the catch combo. I’m intrigued to see how easy or difficult that’ll be! Good luck with the run dude you’ll have to let me know how it goes!

Oh wow, your first shiny is named Lyra and that's the name i use for all my pokemon trainers. XD Complete coincedence as i didn't know the female rival in HeartGold and SoulSilver is named Lyra until years after i started using the name. ^^

hopefully someone sees this. I am starting my own shiny only playthrough. how were you able to buy so many poke balls? I am at a 22 catch combo and haven't seen a single candy and only have about 30 balls left.

That’s pretty much how I was able to dude, but you need to transfer those caught to the professor for extra candy once you’ve used all the pokeballs you have, and then sell that in bulk. Once you’ve sold that candy, buy more pokeballs and keep the same chain going until you find your shiny, rinse and repeat. I noticed that the higher my chain went the more candy I seemed to accumulate by catching and transferring - in some cases I’d end up with a full 999 in my bag. Hope this helps and makes sense but let me know if you need any advice 😄

Well bulbasaur just ran at a 26 combo so I reset. Found out you can go to pewter and get either a big pearl or nugget so I did that and now have 120 balls so I should be good. Hopefully I can make it past 26 to see those candies increase. Thanks for your help and awesome video UPDATE: Got it at 111 catch combo

@@scottland309 ahh that makes sense, because I was chaining Pidgey (who basically never runs away), it was so easy to catch and then sell candy with increasing returns, whereas Bulbasaur can be difficult to chain! Since you mentioned in a previous video really liking Vespiquen, I thought I should let you know that you can actually get Vespiquen outbreaks in Scarlet/Violet. No idea about the odds, but if you use a bug encounter sandwich near an area they naturally spawn, it should increase your odds

It really all comes down to luck, because the catch combo provides odds of 1/341, which means the likelihood is you’ll find them before you hit 341, but it’s not guaranteed 🤷🏼♂️ Sometimes you’ll get really lucky and sometimes you’ll get really unlucky - I think the law of averages seems to work itself out though over the course of the game.
