Pokemon Legends Arceus but I can only use SHINIES

Hello Wayfarers, this is a Shiny only challenge in Pokemon Legends Arceus, with some additional rules thrown in. I had a tonne of fun with this challenge and I truly believe this is the ultimate Shiny Hunting experience if you're a fan of that kind of thing.

If you'd like to win all of the Shiny Pokemon that I caught during this challenge, you just need to have a copy of Legends Arceus, a Nintendo Online or Pokemon Home membership, and a Discord account so that I can communicate with you while we trade, to avoid giving them away to the wrong person. To enter, please just leave a comment with which Pokemon game you think is the best to Shiny Hunt in, and why!
If you could also like and subscribe that would be ace, but just a comment will do for the raffle. The winner will be chosen on September 1st, 2023, so you’ll need to comment by then to be in with a chance.

Like if they would have made it so that you can target Pokemon and see a sparkle next to it's name at least it wouldn't have been as infuriating because there are far too many shinies with barely noticeable differences, especially small Pokemon like Tadbulb.

@@eninja1777 I personally enjoyed Scarlet a lot more than PLA, but it's preference I guess. I can see why people don't like either. I have 140 hours in Scarlet so far and I didn't get anywhere near that in PLA.

Scarlet and Violet come close but Arceus nails it with a simple shiny spawn sound. Being let known that theres a shiny is amazing so you don't miss it or despawn it.

I totally agree dude, that sparkle and noise are SO helpful! The Starly I caught in this video was a perfect example, because there is NO way I’d have seen it without them 😅

Hmm I see where you’re coming from, but I think the problem with SV is that you might move completely out of the area without seeing that shiny to begin with, and so you would miss it - at least with PLA there’s no way you’re missing it, because you hear the jingle and you see the sparkle and it’s obvious where it is 😄

The sandwiches from Scarlet & Violet certainly made it easier for shiny hunting, but the audio/visual feedback of the overworld sparkle, combined with mass outbreaks is what puts PLA at the top for me.

I really expected to see a more organized selection of Pokémon, but I was really happy when you just went with whatever shinies you could find. It made the playthrough feel much more authentic. My favorite game to shiny hunt in is Let’s Go. It’s super easy, and all the Gen 1 Mons are my absolute favorite shinies.

Legends Arceus is by far the best to shiny hunt in. It's insane how much the sparkle and simple sound effect helps, especially for subtle shinies. I feel bad for colorblind people trying to hunt in Scarlet/Violet, since they removed both the visual sparkle and the sound cue- having to check every mon with the overworld fights must be annoying. I'm not colorblind myself, but hahve constant paranoia when playing because I'm constantly worrying that I'll just walk right by one without noticing ;w;

I couldn’t agree more, I’ve said the same thing about accessibility so often - it’s nice that anyone with a visual or auditory impairment can hunt without issue in PLA, compared to SV where it’s restrictive - I don’t think it’s a bad thing in terms of challenge (although it is daunting) but it is when you consider those with impairments 😕

I think the best game to shiny hunt in is SV because I once got 5 shiny Pokemon from 1 sparkling sandwich, so 5 in 30 minutes and 2 times I got them a couple seconds later

as an experienced shiny hunter i think sun and moon are the best games for it specifically cause of the SOS method. if your preparation is good enough and you pay attention you're pretty much guaranteed to find your target with enough patience. excited to see more stuff from you, i hope your channel gets big :)

Ayyy, been waiting since the first shiny vid (: ❤ In terms of my favourite method of shiny hunting, that has to go to let’s go, for being an easy, simple and fairly controllable method that lets you find shinies you want fairly quickly, however, in terms of excitement and fun, the ultra wormholes in USUM are my favourite as the odds are not only increased, but you also have the chance to find shiny legends without a lot of struggle and resetting

PLA is definitely a strong contender for easiest game to shiny hunt in, the little jingle helps and I love the increased odds from perfecting a pokemon's dex entry. I also think Scarvio is a tough contender, theres so many ways to shiny hunt it's so close to perfect- if PLA's overworld shiny jingle was in SV it would be my favourite.

This may seem strange but Pokemon Quest was my favourite game to shiny hunt in, I have no explanation apart from sentimental reason as my first ever shiny was a full odds shiny Eevee that will forever be stuck in block form. If I have to choose a main line series game, it'd have to be PLA, I bought it two weeks ago and I've already gotten quite a few shinies and having the sparkle noise really adds a lot!

I’ll probably release all kinds to be honest, I’m planning on doing some more Pokémon challenges but I like playing Jurassic World Evolution, anything Star Wars related etc. - it mostly just depends on what kind of challenges I’m feeling up to. At the moment I’m working on a Pokemon Shield run where I can only use Baby Pokemon, that’s been pretty fun so far 😊

Honestly? PLA is the best one to shiny hunt in. I've never had more luck or gotten more shinies then I did in this game. I still have an automatic reponse of joy and excitement whenever I hear the shiny sound from the game. I hope they bring something like that back in future games (C'moooon Legends Celebi. BE A THING)

Completely unrelated to the video and idk if anybody else noticed this but commander kamado’s team before the legendary cutscene consisted of a snorlax braviary clefable and golem which all evolve in different ways high friendship, level up, stone, and trade and professor Rowan studies Pokémon’s evolution so I thought that was kind of fun 😅😅

A year removed, I finally got back into PLA and almost finished the game and started shiny hunting. Got a shiny Ralts after a couple of hours that ran away, but I saved, so I got it on the second try! Going into my senior year, so I should probably be working on my college apps lmao, but heyyyyy. PLA definitely the most satisfying to shiny hunt. Nothing compares to the sparkle and sound

I did the same thing, only playing with shiny. I do it on Black 2, so far i have 168 shinys. Trust me, it’s so painful, literally 195 days. I also traded my oun shiny pokemon from my old games. I do all of this in my retroarch emulator on ios. But still, I also have a hard goal, catching female shiny combee to complete my shiny pokedex

PLA was definitely the most fun shiny hunting I've ever had. It actually got me into shiny hunting. Seeing the stars and the sound in the overworld were so great in helping. There were maybe 3 or 4 shinies that spawned and I only heard the sound, so it definitely saved me from missing on some. Also Shinx was my 1st shiny in PLA as well! 8 hours in, and in an outbreak in the same area too! I have a friend who said she got a shiny shinx 30 minutes into the game. One time I caught 2 shiny Zubat in the same outbreak.

Every time I do another playthrough of a Pokemon game I make sure to have at least 1 shiny on my team. For example, when I played through Shield doing a mono ghost run, I hatched a shiny Honedge. Before PLA came out I ran Lets Go again and got a Shiny Paras. It wasnt exactly what I was looking for but Huzin, my beloved female shiny Paras, put in some work. I grew attached to it, which is why when I got PLA on release I was shocked that my first shiny was another female Paras. Huzin came back to me and I once again used it until I finished the game. I love that little buddy.

I love seeing these odds breakdowns and how you got them. I’ve been working on a new play focused on dex completion to get shiny charm, and found 12 shinies so far. Including a full odds mr mime, and my favorite, first in the dex, shiny alpha female heracross with adamant nature. I replaced my starter so fast.

Let's Go may be the best to shiny hunt in because the catch combo chain methods in that. Was able to use it to get a Shiny Psyduck to replace the one I accidentally defeated back in Pearl years ago. I mostly am a Soft Reset for Legends Shiny hunter though, so really any games I like to hunt in via that method :)

PLA is super fun to shiny hunt in. It's the only game in the entire series where I've felt compelled to try and complete a shiny dex- and I'm about 35% done! Other than spacetime distortion pokemon and the burmy line it's a super fun process of just exploring and catching.

I think US/UM is the most fun to shiny hunt in. Maybe it's a little bit biased, since it was one of my first Pokemon games, but wormhole hunting is really fun, and you can get some shiny legends from it as well.

They are but the amazing thing with Arceus is the shiny sound and sparkle are both present unlike Scarlet and Violet - that gives you a good chance of finding them even if they do have similar colours 😊

Really high quality video, I think omega ruby and alpha sapphire is the best to shiny hunt in because you can do horde encounters of 5 pokemon at a time! I also love the amount of legendary hunts you can do in those games. Thanks for taking the time and making cool videos

Id say any of the old Sinnoh games or HG/SS are fun to shiny hunt purely due to the fact of the cute charm shiny glitch. But modern era probably Arceus or Lets Go games are fun too

I love shiny hunting in Legends purely for the sound effect and the sparkles, but I gotta say SV still takes the lead as the best Pokemon to shiny hunt in the series even without the special effects. The reason is simple: you can quickly and easily force the outbreak you are looking for, and you can greatly increase your odds with sandwiches. Sure, Outbreak odds in Legends are higher than SV, but you gotta remember you only get a handful of Pokémon per Legends outbreak (24 max, I think?) so unless you find the shiny within those, you will have to go back to the village and reset for the outbreak again... which is 100% luck based, sadly. Meaning you can take hours, even days to find the outbreak you want, and then get 0 shinies out of it. Meanwhile, once you get the outbreak in SV, you are set until the next day. Just save the game, pop a sandwich and keep repeating until you find the shiny you wanted. TLDR: Legends is amazing for shiny hunting randomly when you don't have a set target in mind. But SV is far superior for shiny hunting specific Pokemon you want/need.

Whats crazy is that I also caught a shiny starly at that same exact spot early in my Legends journey too! I love Legends Arceus and was pleasantly surprised with how the shiny system works / shinies appear in the wild. Commenting for the shiny alpha Electivire cause that was just epic to see. One thing I noticed in the rules that I don’t see being talked about is that you say you cannot save and reset a mass outbreak. However, that method of shiny hunting was only in the first few versions of the game and was removed with the addition of massive mass outbreaks. Were you using an older version?

Meh I would say it all counts really either way, the rule is I’m not allowed to save before a shiny encounter or to reset for a shiny if I fail - that’s in the game regardless of what version it is 🤷🏼‍♂️

The best game to shiny hunt in is Legends Arceus of Scarlet and Violet. The shiny sound is easier to not miss shiniesin Legends arceus while the rates for shinies are easier with sandwiches!

I think Pokémon Legends is a great game to get a shiny because when you spot a shiny it makes a sound making it easier to get a shiny, and maybe because I got my first shiny in this game, a shiny starly. I got this 5 minutes after the tutorial so I was really surprised. It was also base odds with no outbreak so I am really lucky. Sadly I was doing a nuzlocke and it died at level 54 and I had to release it, a year later and I never got a shiny again.

I believe while people thino that pokemon legends arceus is the best to hunt shinies in,mine in pokemon X and Y. The thrill of having a group battle with some pokemon and one shiny sparks more joy. Sure it may be also a bit like a little hard. The hard work having to catch a floette before so that it can use its special move,then having a group of pokemon.

Did you ever consider a shiny only run where the only things you are allowed to catch straight up are shinies? Outside of the forced tutorial spawns it is entirely possible and grants a whole new level of rng based challenge into the run. Due to the restrictions of basically 0 mass outbreaks, full odds catches and having to play a bit smarter to achieve maximum dex points for progression, it makes the run feel a lot more about going for that rare hunt, with the added excitement of being PLA.

I’ve caught other shiny Pokémon throughout my time playing the main series games (Gen 4 baby) and my favourite shiny I’ve encountered is chimchar from soft resetting. Although I will say my top three shiny mon’s I’ve acquired are chimchar, Umbreon, and spiritomb. I’m not familiar with the shiny mechanics in S&V because I decided not to purchase the game. That being said, if your video is anything like the Legends Arceus one, I’ll definitely be excited to watch it because of how engaged and entertaining it is. I'm doing this right now as a nuzlocke. I thought it would be a great way to randomize the team like a traditional nuzlocke. The only stuff I'm allowed to hunt are the Pokemon I need for requests, as I'm only allowed to use shinnies for requests too. My goal is to fill Jubilife Village with as many shiny Pokemon as I can. I'm also only allowed to use non-shiny Pokemon for filling Pokedex requests, but I can't have any non-shinies on my team to progress the story. Ironically, my starter ended up being a full odds Ponyta, when I hadn't progressed far enough to get access to that request yet, and I hadn't even gotten it's Pokedex entry to level 10 yet, so it was true full odds.

Shiny hunting in legends is fantastic thanks to the visual and audio cues that the game gives you, but I also really like shiny hunting in scarlet and making shiny sandwiches (assuming, of course, you get a sliver of herba mystica after doing 30+ raids in a row 😭)

Yep totally agree dude, it’s a shame I couldn’t do more of the flying in this challenge tbh but as I only unlocked it really late it wasn’t on the cards - it’s SO useful in the postgame for hunting 😄
