Comentar o sublime, expressar o dom sobrenatural que é Callas em palavras é impossível. Ela foi e será a maior artista da ópera dos nossos tempos. Até hoje inatingível em seu pedestal de maior, absoluta, La Divina. Ela não é só uma cantora de ópera, ela é a encarnação viva da arte operistica.

Sorry, my mistake, on listening again I realise that at 1'44 "V'aspettan gli amici" the rest is transposed down a semitone so the top notes are a B. It is still a beautiful version...

I think many of Mario's film recordings are far superior in terms of vocal and technical production to his RCA recordings. His film recordings of arias are far superior to those of his RCA versions perhaps with the odd exception. His RCA recordings of the Chenier arias are spectacular, for example, but on the whole his operatic work in the movie The Great Caruso is in a different league to the RCA record of the same name.

Mario Lanza était le seul à pouvoir combiner le talent d'un chanteur, d'un acteur, un charme extérieur et une âme vivante.❤❤❤ Et combien insignifiants étaient ceux qui lui ont créé tant de problèmes, sans se rendre compte du trésore qu'ils possèdent. Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo.

I am beginning to realize the extent to which Pavarotti and others copied his technique, but could not fully emulate his sound. It leads me to wonder whether Pavarotti's career would have taken off in the 60's the way it did had Bjorling not died.
