Marina said later that she was warned to stay away from Ruth by the Secret Service after the assassination as Ruth is likely working intelligence. Those boxes in her garage also had 6 drawers full of pro Castro Communist sympathizers. As well as all the lesbian porn videos confiscated. It seems Ruth and Michael's marriage was a typical intelligence marriage . Kinda like Lee and Marinas , he's CIA and she was a honey pot . So many bizarre aspects to Ruth it's unbelievable. When she was doing "missionary work" in Nicaragua I'm sure she got chased out after the locals accused her of being CIA.

She and her husband are the key one way or the other. Without them Lee Harvey is never in the School Book depository. One thing that is a bit glaring, at the time he gets the job, the Presidential route has yet to be determined. So that's a bit of a wrinkle. Shocking I know that there'd be a wrinkle in this story!

Catherine doesn't have the negative background that Camilla did, so it doesn't matter that she has the title of Princess of Wales. And please cut Diana a bit of slack. If you grew up in that kind of trauma (I did, so I know!), she really needed a supportive husband.

This is very interesting and certainly appears accurate, but what is the "White Russian" you refer to several times? Are you saying it's not a "Black Russian"? Are you clarifying a specific race? If so, how many "Black Russians" have you ever seen? Why isn't it just a Russian? Does it really need to have a color attached? Maybe I have been living under a rock and just don't understand.
@Jess_Connell20 сағат бұрын
White Russians is a description/political term that can relate to, I believe, anti-Bolshevik’s. A quick google search could give you the info you seek: “The term "White Russian" refers to Russian people who left the Russian Empire after the Russian Revolution and Civil War to escape the Bolshevik communist political climate” It is a specific community - not a contrast with, as you absurdly suggest, “Black Russians” but describing a particular grouping of people at a particular time. Thanks though, if it was sincere and not simply an attempt at mockery, for the question.

Merry Christmas Jess! The aristocrats including the queen were brought up by nanny. The nanny would take the children once a day to see their parents for a short while usually around tea time. NO aristocratic woman in the queen's era would have been caught dead pushing a pram. You have to understand the difference in upper class mores and customs vs normal every day people. I find your comments comparing your idea of motherhood behavior's attributed to the queen or not quite amusing. There was very little bonding between an aristo mother and child. In current times some aristo women became more into being hands on mothers, but really very few because bringing up children is work intensive and that is for servants and nanny. The mothers were brought up this way, and so to them bringing up their own children this way is completely normal. You are bumping up against the class system here.

Simultaneous to your excellent reading of “Palace Papers” I am taking Bower’s “Rebel Prince” at a slow pace, and his text elicits a frequent “Oh dear, Oh dear”. Today’s version was a review of a meeting with high ranking members of the British Medical Association, during which the then Prince of Wales declared that cancer could be cured by the soul. Read in tandem with other commentaries it is somewhat disconcerting. Whilst I fully accept that psychological profiles may play a role in sickness, adamantine assertions are hardly appropriate.

The Catholic Church does not permit priest to marry because a married priest would put his family first. Most fathers, with high powered jobs, often put the job first. I don't see this as a valid reason, as many parents will choose the job over the children. I grew up on a farm and I knew the farm always came first.

@@Jess_Connell The way a Catholic monk explained it to me once, was that monks like him CHOOSE celibacy, they choose to live in groups with like minded people whose sole focus is connection to God through work, prayer, and meditation, in a brotherhood/sisterhood. Priests, on the contrary, ACCEPT celibacy as a condition of becoming priests. However, according to him and some Catholic thinkers, it is a stupid rule based on nothing truly foundational to the church. It also makes it very hard to recruit priests and contributes to the problems we all know about. It also forces monks to take on parish priest roles they really don't want to do, like saying mass, because there aren't enough priests to do it. Some modern Catholics support the idea of married priests (and women priests) but as usual, the old guard/leadership is slow to catch up.

QEIi was never exposed to other little children as she grew 0:00 practiced mothering as we do when babysitting. As a princess, she was treated with deference her whole life until she married. All her friends had nannies and partied and traveled while their children were young; children werent considered "interesting". They never expected she would have to be monarch until after Charles was in boarding school, so she had to learn on the fly while mourning. She liked strong opinionated naughty men of action, just as she preferred corgis who are assertive, energetic, and playful, or labs who obey, pay attention, and get the job done. Looking back into the history of the British Royalty it's helpful to remember that King Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church and Rome so he could become the supreme head of the Church Of England and the Pope would no longer have religious authority over England. I wonder how much of this had influence down through the generations. In his quest for a male heir King Henry accumulated 8 wives, of course ridding himself of one before he moved onto the next! It seemed to set a standard where women were seen merely as bearers of the heir and/ or substitutes who played the role of Mistress to the Crown. All the emotional upset and pain was the harsh price they paid particularly in the era of Princess Diana, who would have none of it, and nor would the next generation, the children of Charles and Diana or Camilla and Andrew!

A house guest emulating Henry VIII! Renowned for practically impoverishing his hosts, the king moved “the court” to his host’s estate, and proceeded to enjoy the hunting and whatever else. Charles, for his part, is doing the modern equivalent. What an insult to his hosts. I wonder how he would feel if guests at Highgrove removed his furniture and pictures, replacing them with their own. What he is in effect saying is that your style is inferior to mine, and so I’ve refurnished my quarters with my own things. What an insult! Even to the lavatory seat, I understand.

The resoling of shoes, replacing a zip, and EVEN the wartime practice of using good fabric from a shabby garment to make a child’s outfit. Immediate post WWII in England that is how I grew up, and I really dislike the shallow disposable culture of today. 7.33 Yes it is, absolutely. I have a vivid and detailed recollection of being in my pram. The arctic white interior, the tunnel like impression of the cover being fastened, and my mother at the end of the white tunnel. Another of a nappy change position, my mother leaning over me in a multi coloured smock. When I asked about it my mother confirmed she had such. Another of my father home on military leave when I was about a year or eighteen months. It is the mood, the atmosphere of these events which renders them particularly “sticky”. Never under estimate the awareness of infants and young children. Only when I was fifty and my mother came to live with me were some of my “mysteries” solved. As to the oft criticised Queen, bearing in mind the rarefied atmosphere of her own formative years, and the undemonstrative parenting style of the day (cuddling was spoiling), my sympathies are all with a new mother in her particular situation. Charles loves to play the victim: millions were raised with remote mothers and haven’t made it their life’s mission to excuse every misstep on account of it.

It began as a log cabin that was built by a family that used the house as a summer home as it was cooler (it was located on a mountain overlooking the city). Additions were added on in the 1940’s. It was beautiful- with a flagstone front porch and steps and flagstone walkways in the front and back yards. There was a working well on the front porch; the water was clean and so cold!
