As an expatriate, I left South Africa in 1996, came to Sydney Australia. In the last 10 years, this city has lost it’s way!!! Out of control house prices, food prices are soaring and overall the cost of living is ridiculous. I am in the top 5% of earners here in Australia and I find some weeks “tight” Planning my 6 weeks trip home to Durban to see what’s what ❤️🇿🇦 Take Sydney harbour away and all you have is chronically over priced concrete shoe boxes that take 60 years to pay off…. If you are blessed enough!!

Absolutely, definitely, the vast majority of South Africans who leave the crime riddled country don't return. A few yes. But as for us, and thousands others who were affected by the crime there.... never to go back.

White South Africans have no future in South Africa itself.Whites in South Africa are not at home but are merely migrants from the very beginning. The blacks were there first so white South Africans you art not at home but only visitors.I used to live in South Africa and the boer treated me the same as an outsider because of their apartheid thinking.

Enjoy it while u can, coz u will soon have to go back to your continent of origin - which for most of u is Europe & Asia, coz let's face it - Africa is NOT where u are from!

Now that South Africa has a coalition government, with the Democratic Alliance playing a substantial role in it, the political outlook is better for Whites, who suffered a lot from the ANC government's discriminatory policies against them, including Black Empowerment and the confiscation of farms, with the only payment being for so-called improvements. If the horrifying murders of White farmers ("Plaasmorde") can be stopped, that would help a lot too.

Can you imagine leaving SA with children and seeing them go to our polluted schools? Besides, the immigrants in Europe are as bad or worse than the people they immigrated to escape.

Well said, wise words. Personally I was born in SA and lived there for 40 years. I was offered a job in the UK in 1990 and moved over with my family. My kids have grown up here and now my wife and I have the privilege of helping look after 8 grandchildren. BUT, my wife and I are desperately homesick, not to mention absolutely fed up with long cold and wet winters. Yes, you definitely learn a lot when you travel, especially if you work in different parts of the world like I did. Life is certainly different here, you cannot help comparing everything to SA. When we go home to visit family we have noticed the changes over the years, but we have been here long enough to know this is not the same England we moved to. I can truly say, financial gain is useful, but you mental health and well-being is even more important. Be careful friends, do your homework and then make your decision. For us it is either SA or Cyprus, both are now home to us. God Bless

Well, firstly at least metaphorically there is grass on the other side. The unemployment rate of South Africa is at 32%, one of the highest in the world and the country faces water and power shortages. Having said that, South Africa is a beautiful country and more advanced than people overseas think. However, as long as the ANC stays in power, the country will never reach it's full potential. If things were so wonderful here ,maybe no-one would've packed up and left for foreign shores for no reason in the first place. It's easy to cry sour grapes if for some reason or another, things don't work out in a new country but to praise SA excessively sounds like making the most of a bad situation.

Well, I'm not too sure how many SA's that moved to Perth, Australia can agree with that. Considering the climate is pretty similar and the flight times aren't so long. Then there is the similar landscapes, and culture that is not too alien for Afrikaans and English South Africans....just saying l

Most South Africans unfortunately cannot adopt to a countries cultural differences. They are spoilt with Maids, Gardners etc. If you can't adapt GO HOME. This is what I find with a lot of South African immigrants. I have been in Australia for 35 years and love it .

The one thing that most that South Africans who’ve never been overseas don’t know is just how individualistic people are in other countries(especially first-world). You won’t be able to strike a deep conversation with a random stranger in other countries, people don’t really have this family vibe the way we do. Plus the weather here is sublime, some places have depressing weather.

SA is hardly immune to inflation, on the contrary. Many returnees have "made it" abroad, and are spending later years in SA. Incidentally, many have (wisely) left their assets abroad.

Came back 4months ago after living in Northern Europe for 2 years and had planned to settle in Portugal/Spain. Had a great job, made wonderful friends, endured the lousy weather and bland food 😊. Thoroughly enjoyed the fact that pretty much everything worked well and the ability to easily and cheaply travel in Europe was great. But Africa called us home and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. There is just something magical happening in SA, we have such amazing and diverse people and our potential is huge. We all make our own decisions so try not criticise those who choice is different from yours. ❤

The only thing that draws people to their communities. Is certainly not a Religion. As Religion is vertical which has been adopted by our ancestors and by History. Religion is setup as an Exclusive Club...But the horizontal are the ones which have been transmitted to us by our modern day contemporaries in the now. What we are or must fight for is against Globalization, as this the greatest threat to our individual needs, a fight which must be fought in order to preserve our own culture, identity and values. We are never the same and can never be equal...We are all unique just as others are unique in themselves this is the only way we can learn from each other. But unfortunately the past is our Achilles heel. For those in the Arab World, Asia, Africa, Russia and the likes. Have really stepped up to accept change. Thus as much as the abhore their own identity, they lapse back into taking refuge in it. Just to avoid change. As the Grass is never Greener on the other side. U cannot be more than what U are. Don't trying to copy each other it is disaster...In living by Comparison is a dangerous concept...This what the East, Middle East, Asia, Russia and Africa is trying to do is basically trying to catch up. Trying to live in a Globalized Cocoon. To make up for lost time.Which has lead to the most tragic course of events all over the World...This is really a too a greater issue to unpack here and now. But Politics and Religion are thus irrelevant here. As U cannot belong to more than one Religion at a time. U will be frowned upon and even stoned to death for your multiple affiliations which will probably drive U U nuts. But the point here is, if U can speak your Mother tongue and and converse in other languages as well. U will be more comfortable and more accepted into any community, plus your own...U will be a free man of note...🤔🧐😅
