I really enjoyed this…urban exploring, old photos, old maps…three things I love. You’re a great guide! 🍻 from Florida!

I was running a night shift at a Portslade factory (gone now) when the storm reached its zenith. The power was lost leaving us with just the emergency lighting. Then the roof door blew out and the offices corridor was an absolute wind tunnel with small tornados of papers going in and out of offices. At 4.30am I told anyone who lived within easy walking distance that they could go home if they could do so safely, and most did. At 5am, I left to make my own way home to Sompting. It was all I could do to stay on my feet. After a very hairy half-hour, I managed to get a lift in a VW camper van from a guy who was driving along the sea-front road and using a mobile radio (there were no mobile phones then) to link up with the presenter of the local radio station, Southern Sound. He took me as far as the Adur bridge in Shoreham-By-Sea, and from there I walked home. Windblown - but interesting. Fortunately, my own house suffered very little damage but I saw a lot of wrecked cars, uprooted trees, and missing roofs before I got home. Yes... A night to remember.

I lived in Tarring village at the time. I lost one tile, and slept through the entire thing. I came-to once, to close my bedroom window, thinking "Oh, it's raining" and went back to sleep. In the morning I couldn't grasp the light: the two huge ash trees shadowing my garden had both gone! each 80 feet tall and 100 years old

As a 60 year old fan, I loved stumbling across this video and listening to this talented man 🙂👍🏽. I wish I could change the shutdown chord on my computer to Orac saying… “I am closing down. I have much to do. You have engaged my circuits on your petty affairs for far too long!”

You absolutely can! Have done exactly this with that quote. I used to have it on my old Window 3.11 machine too. This is how you to do it for Windows 10. The tutorial is incomplete though. This enables the settings that are missing in sounds. Once you've followed the steps, reboot, then go back into sounds and the Windows start up and shutdown options for sounds are there and you can then brows and select the sound file. Windows 11 may be slightly different, however worth a look kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmHZgKN8e7qFabc

Fun fact I was living in Walberton at the time and slept through the whole storm. It wasn’t until the cat woke me up because the electric was off and I’d got dressed and walked out the front door that I noticed my little Yamaha DT 125 was lying on its side that I saw the utter chaos all around. Actually managed to ride all the way to Lancing to work at a warehouse, when I got there the roof had been blown off

I did the same thing woke up in the morning looking out of the window all the trees were flat to the ground. I lived in Ashurst West Sussex back in the day. And worked on a farm we then spent all that winter repairing buildings clearing trees etc.

Special Constable Andy's wife is obviously a mighty intelligent woman - why anybody would sacrifice their spare time voluntarily going out policing the mean streets😁 of 90s Brighton (those were the days...sigh...❤️💛💚) without any type of pay??! Completely beyond me🙃🤯 (and SC Andy's wife)! I mean what the blimmin' ef is going on with that? All risk for [insert here] reward. I'm sure SC Andy, pays his taxes like people should. If I were Andy I'd tell East Sussex Police to quickly jog on if they tried the budget constraints excuse with me. Paying my taxes like a good citizen AND "being selected"😉 to risk my health every time I go out and do the police job FOR FREE!! If we skip attempting to analyse the motivations of the SC Andys of this world for a minute; how's that even a thing? In all honesty I reckon the vast majority of the SCs for one reason or another are police school rejects. So, what do we do with them? We'll just give them a badge and substantial police powers anyway and let them loose on unsuspecting clubbers and "ravers'😁. I don't live in Brighton or anywhere else the UK anymore and haven't been for years and years so I don't know if Special Constables is still a thing0å. Probably is though since budget constraints is the official excuse for this bizarre concept. SC Andy needs a little chat with Sergeant I don't live for policing, policing provides me with a means of living and that's IT. Sarge seems to be, intelligence wise, on par with SC Andy's wife. Alright, rant's officially over.

Pure nostalgia… the production, the footage… even though Brighton wasn’t great in the early 90’s, I’d take it over the crap-hole it’s become nowadays! Green Party, extortionate business rates, rents, parking restrictions, i360 (debt to b&h council) are all to blame!
