I have been practicing giving myself space between the event and my reaction to it. If my husband says or does something that upsets me, I don't go to him about it immediately anymore. I give myself the time to journal about what happened and why it upset me so much. Once I've gotten clarity over not just the situation but my feelings about it, I'm able to approach him in a way that is respectful and non-confrontational. I do the same thing with my kids, instead of immediately reacting, I give myself time to get clear on what I'll say. Journal first, react second :) I'm not perfect at it, sometimes I still get on to them right away but I'm much better at catching myself before I do. As with anything in life, the more you practice it, the easier it becomes. ♡

Thanks for sharing this Ellie! This is something I’ve been working on with my husband too. I love how the journaling often helps me see my part in disagreements that I might not otherwise see or understand. And how in taking ownership of that it allows me to feel better (more empowered, and less like the one who was “wronged”). I’m with you that it really helps in the discussions that follow. 🥰

I have really enjoyed many of your videos that you putting out. My life is already slow. It’s been slow now for a good seven years since I got sick. But now that I’m feeling better I’m trying to embrace slow living in a different way. I want my time to be productive, but yet slow, and I want to eliminate certain things that I do in my day that is nonproductive. Listening to people as much as I have to learn how to embrace a truly productive, slow living life. I don’t want my time to be unproductive as far as the things that are important to me to do. I will always be limited to what I can do, but I can certainly do more to make my life productive positive way. So you have given me some things to think about. So I still learn how to eliminate time wasters. And to use the time I haveto be doing the things I wanna do and yet do things that I need to do to have a healthier life. So I just wanted to share that with you thank you for sharing your videos with everybody.

Thank you so much for sharing with me Jenny❤️ My heart goes out to you with your struggles on your healing journey. It is interesting that you mention productivity here - one of the intentions I wrote in my journal for this season is finding the balance between productivity and this slower lifestyle I am enjoying. It seems to be a gentle balance. I find the need to continually remind myself of what is truly important to me. For way too many years I got in a habit of doing too much work. What finally slowed me down in part was because of the toll it took on my health. I feel blessed to be as healthy as I am, but this too is something I put much time and energy on in this chapter of my life. I’m so glad you are here and appreciate you letting me know you have been enjoying my videos. It’s hearing from people like yourself that makes this so rewarding. ❤️

I love the idea of ranking what's on your to-do list! Thankfully, I am in love with everything I'm currently working on right now and I do believe it comes from practicing the art of letting go every autumn. Eventually, you get so good at letting go of what no longer resonates, that you end up naturally drawn to the things that light you up. ♡

Where I live in my small Michigan town it forces me to live slow. Shopping here is like going to Oleson's Mercantile on Little House( Amazon is my best friend ) and people drive so slow they go in reverse.🤣 I have lived here my whole life and always wanted to leave but it was a great place to raise my children. Now that I'm 52, I am rather enjoying this town and what nature has to offer minus crazy amounts of snow. Thanks for the video!

As a weight loss coach, I agree with spending time in the kitchen on purpose. To savor the process, to look at the color of the meal, to smell it, to really sit and taste it. To see how it feels in the mouth. Starting with feeling the feeling of hunger in the body, to the anticipation of the way it will taste. Sitting down at the table to enjoy it. Having a date with your body. You develop a better relationship with food. It becomes not only energy for the body, but an experience to savor.

It definitely stems from trauma and is in and of itself an unhealed trauma symptom. It is the flight response of the nervous system, and it's arguably the most societally praised of the four trauma nervous responses, so that external validation adds to it as well as the programming you mentioned. I have found a lot of relief from magic 🍄 trips

I would add that a lot of us bounce back and forth from the flight and freeze response but always try to stay in flight because freeze response is the opposite of societally praised.

I am so exhausted all the time and feel so defeated by how little I get done. Your suggestion to reduce the number of things and then reduce it more sounds like a good idea but then it gets me thinking that maybe I will get too little done and never achieve my goals.
@jmbliving3 ай бұрын
Senta, I'm sure the lack of energy for what you want to accomplish can be so discouraging. Hopefully you are able to get the support you need to be able to optimize your health and energy. I've been thinking a bit about your concern about getting too little done and not achieving your goals. I think with feeling exhausted, it becomes even more important to get very clear on what is truly most important to you so that you don't deplete yourself by trying to accomplish too much. At the end of the day there are only so many hours in the day and one can only be so efficient. Not to mention, you need to rest to restore to find the creativity and energy to be able to achieve those goals. Perhaps you shouldn't look at it like having to give up on any of your dreams, rather that you are prioritizing so that you can focus your time and energy in the most effective way. Not to mention, I've been amazed at the extra creativity one can find to do things in a much shorter time frame, when you are well rested and well nurtured. ❤
