And if we didn't do any of this? We would not have learned so much. We would not have ended WW2. We would not have won the cold war. We would not be the world's superpower that we are. We would have no leverage to keep enemy states in their place (Russia, Iran, China, North Korea). Those seem indisputable. We may not even be free people in the USA today, either without any if this testing. Further I know a world of people who have had cancer who weren't "downwinders" or even alive then. Our first test, some scientists thought an atomic bomb would incinerate Earth's entire atmosphere. What you don't hear in this documentary are people offering solutions to why the US had to do this. Or any context of those who claimed it's the only reason they received cancer. This is a weak, unscientific 20/20 hindsight with modern data.
