Subscription model ruins everything it touches. The only capitalistic model that's worse is the highly predatory freemium mobile games.

Hi Brian, Thanks for your video - lovely piece! I agree with your points. From what I’ve seen in other demo videos of the library, it seems there’s no way to assign a specific instrument to each of the three parts. It might also be useful to have separate CC assignments for each part. For me, it’s a nice library, but it feels more like a demo of what the full version could offer, so it seems a bit too pricey given these limitations. Perhaps someone who purchased the final version could let us know if the limitation you mentioned has been addressed. By the way, I left a more detailed comment on Spitfire's original video demo. Thanks, Giorgio

Thanks, Giorgio! I totally agree with what you’re saying. It does have a lot of potential, and the samples are thought out and inspiring. But a little more control could go a long way. Cheers! 🙌🏻

There's something that sounds weird about this library, but I can't put my finger on it. Recorded too drily? Weird mic placements? Strange articulations? I just can't tell.

I think whatever it is, it’s deliberate. Spitfire is known for capturing a unique time for their libraries. I can’t imagine the tone of it wasn’t completely intentional. It definitely severs its purpose (in my opinion).

As a starting composer, is really overwelming how many shitty libreries are out there. Its a pain in the ass to "test"(U know what i mean) every single one to find "THE ONE" that you feel comfortable trowing your mony at it just to find out that a 10+year had a batter sound all along. I wish that companies made one really good library for each section of the orchestra (WW, Brass, Percussion and Strings) and just than start to make a bunch of specific ones like Tin Flute or bag pipes... this would make our lives much easier

I think there's a difference between buying libraries to cover a need and buying just for excitement. If you're honest with yourself and do the proper research, you won't make bad purchases. Those mistakes are what make this expensive. The fact that there haven't been bigger improvements has a positive. It means you can buy a quality library and be competitive without having to be on the lookout every two years.

Hi! Trying to get this to work on my Macbook Pro M1. Here's my issue: When the "MIDI" box in the initial setup window is empty, it shows my MIDI devices, however, when I input "path=/usr/local/bin/python3", it shoots out an error which states the following: (ERROR, MIDI) error while loading python-rtmidi library (running with python 3.12.6): dlopen(/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.12/lib/python3.12/site-packages/rtmidi/_rtmidi.cpython-312-darwin.so, 0x0002): tried: '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.12/lib/python3.12/site-packages/rtmidi/_rtmidi.cpython-312-darwin.so' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have (arm64), need (x86_64))) Does anybody know a fix for this?

Applause to the content creator who expressed exactly how I feel, but in clear, concise English. I feel the same, but as a non-native speaker, I struggle to express my thoughts clearly. Thanks! WTF with their WaveShaper / Clipper? Its lacking of clarity stole years of production quality from me just because their built-in shaper/clipper sucks hard and I didn't even realize I needed it. Have you heard about virgin zones in Cubase? Yet another abandoned half-baked feature. OMG their forum is worse than Facebook. Damn Steve moderator, he is so cringe. About inserts - get Kilohearts Multipass and forget about those. It will never happen. In 2024 - still not there.

Personally, I don't think there is one DAW that does it all - I'm using three now - Cubase, Bitwig and Reaper - all have their strengths and failings. Cubase is (almost) unrivalled for composing although Studio One seems to be trying to take that one on but without any serious uptake so far.
@odkrywcawidowiskowychdziaa15883 ай бұрын
I have been using Cubase since 20 years already,,, And I thing the reason why people still use it is ironicly the fact that it does not cheange to much... You see - The most creative Composers and musicians don't wanna lern to meny features coming out in a every next versions of DAW. The composing proces in so absorbing that simplycity wins this competition...I would be not interested if Cubase would change to much. Composing takes my atention and I only need few tools.. Globaly Ableton somehow killed creatyvity by introducing LOOPing culture of making music. I don't wanna become producer out of composer. My creative attention don't wanna be taken out to a diferent roles....

The most sensible advice I've come across re orchestral libraries 👌! Even as an amateur I'm at times tempted by Spitfire Audio and NI's marketing whizz-bang, looking for a nice choral library to add to BBCSO Core that I own. Thanks a ton, this will make me count at least to 100 before hitting any 'buy' button. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

I love Cubase used it since VST5 (2001). I agree though it has a problem with plugins causing it to crash/freeze. V13 seems even worse. A plugin from SSL or UAD should not cause Cubase to freeze.

I use Cubase since 1996. and Atari ST. It is/was integral part of my studio, and while I have Pro Tools, Nuendo and some special middleware I need for specific tasks, evolution of Cubase was so exciting to witness. Yes there are certain issues but I am still to find a DAW with as many features covering everything.

V.A.T. on a sample library ! really ? That gets me wondering. It's just sounds and not physical. V.A.T. on something you can't put your hands on, or have in a box. Then there's the expense of buying a large drive to back all your libraries on, and that's not guaranteed to be 100% safe.

I totally agree with you that being able to try a library before buying it would be a game changer. My very first Spitfire library was ... unfortunately ... the Olafur Arnalds library because I had no clue what I was doing. It was a pricey library and certainly for someone out there the exact right library but it was not so for me. I was beyond disappointed and used it only one or two times in my life. This experience kept me from buying any other product from Spitfire again because I am too afraid of spending money on the wrong product.

Man, especially for someone that is beginning in this world, the idea of trying out a library is the best! Like, for someone starting, spending 300, 400, 500€ into a library + Kontakt is a big no no. Thank god for free libraries
@RogerioPefi6 ай бұрын
I believe that the main resource that these companies should be looking for is a way to have these libraries with the same or even better competence, but, mainly, occupying much less space in our SSDs and consuming less RAM and processing power. That would be a huge advance. Physical Modeling as it has a gigantic potential, and SWAM has demonstrated this. Nowadays these libraries are gigantic, they require a huge heap of memory and processing, making it impossible for independent composers to assemble their mockups in order to compete with the big ones in the market.
