Looks like signature solar has removed the brightmount cat1 from website. It must have been a disaster.

I see that. Also, as of today (Feb. 1, 2025) Shopsolar also have none in stock. I don't know if they're selling out fast coz of the expected tariff price increases. I just hope that they make and sell the extension rail kits soon so I can complete my project.

Is there enough room to drill 2 more holes a bit further back for the vertical parts like the older design? And use the two new holes just for the vertical member?
@SteveInMaine2077 күн бұрын
I think i would just not worry about the 2 - 90 inch spans being connected in the center. I'd treat them like 2 seperate kits that hold 2 panels. I'd space the 4 legs further out on a longer 4x6 so not only would they center better along the cross span piece but i'd have the extra inch sticking out towards the center gap so that i could get a 5th panel between the outer 2. The center one would only need to grab onto the inch that sticks out. The panel frame itself could support its own glass without the span under it. I wouldn't bother with the extension kit at all.

I understand what you're trying to say, but, I think you might not be putting into consideration the solar panel clamps. The clamps for the solar panel at the very end needs at least 1 inch for rail space. Then the clamps in between two panels needs at least 3/4 inch. The 90 inch rail will be short a couple of inches to hold two panels with all the clamps in place. This is why EG4 sells the extension rail kit to add 5 inches to fit 4 panels perfectly. This is not an issue for panels that are less than 44.5 inches wide. Thank you for your input.
@RockhollowCNCServices2 күн бұрын
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I saw another video where the guy spread them apart enough to add a 5th panel. I am putting two kits side by side and like you say treat them as separate and span the gaps with a panel.
@SteveInMaine2072 күн бұрын
@@RockhollowCNCServices Yeah I guess the pop in screw clips take up some room though. I guess maybe if little clamps were used on the back side of panel then that extra space could be eliminated to gain that extra few inches.

Thanks! Good info. I won't be buying this design. When you get greedy and cut cost to make more profit there nothing separating you from all the other garbage out there. What drew me to eg4 was the quality. It also looks like the thickness of the aluminum is much thinner it even sounds tinny.

Man, the new version looks substantially inferior to the old version. The new way of doing things is to make it cheaper and raise the price! Then they try to convince you its better and was done for your benefit.

I own both v1 and v2 of these mounts and am SO disappointed in V2! I put them all together over new years and I took some side by side pic of the different parts and you will not believe the difference in thickens and detail, and to put insult to injury they went up $40 on the price! I hope they are not cutting corners like this on their v2 chargeveters and batteries really makes you wonder what their up to! SAME CONCEPT BUT DEFINITIONALLY NOT THE SAME MOUNTS! VERY CHEAPLY MADE!

i asked a few weeks ago about why the price has gone up on them and they mentioned that they had made some changes to the kit which is what caused the increase. Hopefully you got the better price at least
@DIY-Elvin-Productions18 күн бұрын
No, I paid the current price of $310. The prices were the same from both Signature Solar and Shop Solar. I just thought that the prices had gone up due to supply and demand, but I guess that wasn't the case.
@johnhall86919 күн бұрын
Thanks! I was planning the same with 10 REC panels (40" wide). I saw a video where the guy left a gap between the rails to allow for 5 panels on each mount kit. This only works for 5 panels where the center panel mounts across the rail gap. I still am working on a way to get the 4x6 about 2 feet off the ground to alow better winter angles.
@DIY-Elvin-Productions19 күн бұрын
Yes, I believe I've seen that video as well. I think it only works on the narrower panels like yours or even smaller panels. Thank you for watching.

thank you. i have six of the generation 2 Bright mounts. my panels are 44.6" wide so i had to make my own extension as they were not yet being offered. even so i would still use mine because they are much better and cheaper. i will not be buying these mounts again. they are now no good.
@DIY-Elvin-Productions19 күн бұрын
Yeah, if I only owned an older version I would have been able to compare much better. Thank you for watching.

You could still use 4x4 with u-bolts. I would also drill some holes in the 4x4 and drive some rebar 3 to 4 foot into ground.

Those chickens are saying FRAUD,,FRAUD,,,FRAUD....very intelligent chickens laying eggs in the second floor instead of the bottom floor where is easier & no metal chicken wire to hurt the chicken feet....Do a video about cows next & Bullshit😅

so they don't need any type of bedding to lay eggs?
@jonataseuukАй бұрын
Not really, unless you want them to brood the eggs ! I have a similar setup
@DIY-Elvin-ProductionsАй бұрын
They do not need bedding. This also keeps it very clean and no maintenance required. If at first they are hesitant to use it, as what happened in my case, I placed hay in the nesting box. Then they started using it instead of laying on the ground. The hay was gone after a week and they've been using it with no issues. The hay did prevent the eggs from rolling so for that short time I had to manually get the eggs from each box.

Great concept! May I suggest making the holes a little bit bibber on the plastic? I just would not want them to struggle too much to get their food....otherwise ...Great JOB!! Also, I have learned that wetting their food with water eliminates 99 percent of food waste.

Would you please provide dimensions? Like, diameter of holes in plastic and how far up from the bottom? Construction of hopper, and size/placement of holes at the bottom? How long have you used this, and what problems did you have? I live in dry, high-ish desert so this should work well in my chicken hoop house. Thanks!

I just added the basic dimensions on the video description. I've had this for over 3 years and no issues. Just make sure you keep it away from the rain. Thanks for watching.

Model on 0,5 minut is not bad but if you have large an small chickens the little can't do the job.
@lisasaunders48356 ай бұрын
I purchased a Royal Rooster and it does not work. I keep my chicken coop and accessories very clean. When it rained just a little water would seep into the feeder and glob the chicken feed up. Then it would clog in an unreachable spot and it would harden like glue. You would have to unscrew it and actually take it apart to get it fully clean. It was a great idea in concept, but it does not work. The only way this might work is in a completely enclosed space, but that does not fix the cleaning issue. No one wants to have to unscrew a feeder every time it needs to be cleaned. Depending on how you had it fixed to your coop, you would have to undo that as well. I had to add zip ties to mine to attach them to my coop, so I had to cut them too, every time it needed to be cleaned. In the end, this was more trouble than it was worth, and I wound up throwing it out.
@DIY-Elvin-Productions6 ай бұрын
I see what you mean about the rain water causing clogging issues. This is why I highly suggest that with any type of feeder to be inside the coop clear from away from exposure to rain or have it placed in a well protected area from rain. My chickens can still free range but the feed is always available to them in the coop. So I have had no issue of clogging, and also I've never had to clean the feeder at all while in use as long as the lids are intact.

so...where is the heat from making the ice cubes going?
@DIY-Elvin-Productions6 ай бұрын
That was part of the experiment to see if the cold air produced would be more than enough to overcome the heat from the ice maker.
@MrHellbani6 ай бұрын
@@DIY-Elvin-Productions thats why experiment is bad .. you should put heat from compressor to somewhere else ( outside ) , and see if that 130w compressor can make " air conditioner " .. that ice maker is around 12kg/day 100/130w , can possible make 300w cooling system if good gass inside... Anyway nice work :)
@DIY-Elvin-Productions6 ай бұрын
@@MrHellbani Yes, you are right. I had been wondering for a long time it this could work and I had to try it out in its most basic setup to see if it does. It's one of those "learn as you go" type of process. This instead became one of those "how not to make a DIY AC". LOL. But its a learning process and I'm sure others learned something new. This gave me other ideas as well and your input is greatly appreciated.
