Hi, Phil. A question, if I may? I have been looking into getting the pocket rack(s) printed here in the UK and prices seem to depend on the weight of material used in the print. However, I can't find any information with the Thingverse files listing the weight of the finished items. Do you think this information is something you could provide? Either on your site or on a youtube or on Thingverse itself? Thanks.

The closest I could find so far were eyeglasses cases. Have you come across anything like that, or would you have any suggestions? In any case, Happy New Year to you!

Dont kid yourself, they'll steal ANYTHING. Keep your ride a semi- pigsty and hide your crap in one of the 11 McDonald's bags half smashed and squashed on the floor. i've been doing this for 10+ years. you might want to fold a piece of scotch tape over the end of the ink tube you cut. trim the excess tape from the sides of the tube. however, this past year, i started using the cheap Pokka Pens (like $12 for 8 of them). i was very pleased to find that i can "refill" them with the ink tubes from these bic round stick pens. also, about a year ago, i started doing something similar to your pocket rack (but much more crude). i take a used or empty gift/credit card. wrap gorilla tape around it once length-wise. use hand-held, single hole-punch to nip 3 evenly spaced notches in each side. wrap a quarter inch wide "ranger band" around the card length-wise. tie a tight loop of bank-line around the card width-wise using the notches in the middle of each side. for the other notches, i use "hair-bands" wrapped around twice. very crude compared to your pocket rack but that's how i found you. i went looking to see anyone had done anything similar to get additional ideas. my "credit card" version, i just carry in a front pant pocket. i suppose i could use velcro tape instead of the gorilla tape. so far, i just use another ranger band if i need to attach something vertically.

So this video auto-played yesterday while I was dozing away, currently I am printing some of the racks. The spray and lotion containers seem like a great solution for me when traveling. My trips are usually just a couple days and this seems like a great option for a "to go" kit. One bottle with disinfectant, one bottle with toothpaste, one container for headache pills, a lighter just in case (and as a make-shift bottle opener). Maybe I'll also add a pouch on the back for band-aids, needles and thread. Thanks for sharing!

In duo in my EDC pouch with a 125mm knipex cobra. I can also use a knipex cobra with little nut bolt and washers to firmly hold a sabre saw, it is realy usable to saw small wood.

Am I missing something? You’re mentioning 2 sizes here but when I check thingiverse I see 3 files, 2 larger pocket racks of which one has the interior hooks and the other doesn’t but I don’t know if these are the standard or smaller ones. There is also a small one on thingiverse that I just quickly printed. It says fits altoids tin so I expected it to be about that size but it’s a lot smaller. Or maybe I just accidentally scaled it down, I just rushed it cause it was late. I’ll definitely find a use for it tho. Are you planning to do more sizes? I think for me, something the size of an actual altoids tin would be perfect. I sadly lack the skills to modify/design these myself. Anyway, tnx for the awesome design, will continue watching some of your other videos. Amazing to see it’s actually being used by paramedics and such. Keep up the good work, tnx again!

I finally found someone on Etsy a while back to make me two of your pocket racks. Really great guy can’t say enough good things about him. I have loved my pocket racks ever since I got them from him. I don’t know how he did it but he got them to me within days of him making them. But I am curious I was wondering how did you decide on making them free and not patterning them very curious about that one. But I am so happy that you decided to give that up for free. Thank you so much for that sir. This was a genius idea by the way thank you again.

@SandTguy - Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the pocket rack. I am very glad you found someone to print them for you and that you are enjoying them. In regard to your patent question. This is an incredibly simple design that can be built using a wide variety of materials. It would be a nightmare to protect a patent since it is so easily replicated. At the advice of an engineer friend of mine, I did go through the process of applying for a provisional utility patent early on, in the event someone tried to claim the idea, but at this point there are EDC enthusiasts around the world making them and the cat is out of the bag. We're coming up on 2 years of project development and at the Pocket Rack has a life of it's own. I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride. Thanks again for your post.

Yesterday a video short from austrianknifeguy popped up on my feed talking about US Rangers using O-Rings on lighters to prevent leaking. I never saw that video until then. It just made sense to see how an O-Ring would work on a Bic because of the gap beneath the fuel release button. I guess the rangers figured that out before I did. A #11 ring works on a standard Bic. Not sure about a mini one as the body may not be as wide, so a smaller size ring might be needed for those. I just found it funny that the US Ranger short came up on my feed. I don't think algorithms work off of comments. ??? But who knows nowadays.

I don't use a zip tie on a Bic lighter. I use an O-Ring. I forget the size but it slips right underneath and into the gap of the fuel release button. The button won't move at all until you slide the O-Ring off. I usually just slide the O-Ring down onto the body of the lighter. With tape wrapped around the lighter, I'm not sure, maybe wrap the tape further down or use smaller width tape. Anyway, I just went to Lowe's a few years back with a Bic, found a package of the right sized O-Rings and put them on a bunch that I bought for a collection (the graphics). I told another KZbinr about it years ago but everyone still uses a zip tie. Not to brag but the O-Rings work better. No fuel leaks at all with a ring.
