It was comic genius. The script was average, but Sellers made it shine.

American actor and comedian Steve Martin recreated the role of Inspector Clouseau, but Peter Sellers was always a good deal better than Steve. Unfortunately many of today’s movie goers don’t know Peter Sellers which is a crying shame, because you simply can’t compare the two actors. Sellers was significantly better in every way!

We need more competent agents working for the government today, like Inspector Clouseau.

Blake Edwards had to endure Sellers demanding that his cronies David Lodge and that creep Graham Stark be given parts in The Pink Panther and other films, even though there were no scripts or scenes for them.

Putting aside that she was faking the call, Clouseau had the hotel and the city and he knew when the flight was, but she never mentioned when the hotel meeting would be, or where in the hotel. Clouseau could have spent months there waiting like an idiot in the lobby without seeing anything.

O.J. Simpson 's guest house servant, Cato Kaelin, must have been named after Ckouseau's house servant... He was a rather useless spectacle at the 1995 trial ..
