@SethYoung-1890 Asking because I got a Halo 3 console yesterday with a Jtagable NXE dash and the GPU died but I "reflowed it" and it works again so I was wanting to see if this would help keep it alive and if I could save money by not getting the GPU replaced.

@ well, if the GPU has already ran into issues It’ll likely die again, temps changed or not. It might help make it last longer though

@@Chadlewis7936 usually the caps are the culprit. Have you double checked to make sure that non are bulging on the main power rail? Also make sure nothing is in the power port

Have you tried powering it on without the heatsinks on? Sometimes the heatsinks with the bolt mod will cause it to short out

@ oh k, its bc sometimes you plug it in and it turn red, it did with my xenon (there was a short on the 5 volt rail in the console)

transplanting HDDs with Windows installation isn't a good idea, because it installs on the hard drive only the drivers needed to run it on the machine it was installed on (in my experience)

would you maybe know why my old wii isn’t reading disc’s? it used to work for rapala and mario kart but now the reader won’t read the discs, doesn’t even pop up in the menu when the disc is inserted

Can you not reflow or replace the southbridge? I'm by far not an expert with xbox's I mainly work on phones so I'm not sure if they are paired or not

I mean... If you even wanna bother with it, try reflowing that chip. Seems like every time the system developes a bit of heat, it locks up and the Southbridge may just need a reflow. They can die, but usually not so much as a cpu/gpu, nor with this older tech do they build that much heat. Perhaps it got dropped and you got a bad solder connection, no idea. But ultimately, I'd give it a try.

@SethYoung-1890 That sucks. To someone, it's worth swapping out then and they, like PC southbridges, are not married, unless Microsoft got weird with it. lol doubtful though. But sounds like it got hot, which seems to be like an overload on it since all it does is control the USB ports, Sata for HDD and disk drive. Probably had a USB device that was somehow defective that slowly began messing with it till finally... Don't toss this tho. Keep it or sell it to someone who can swap that chip out, imo, she's still save-able. Sorry, accused of writing books but I just see things in a brighter way, and these bad boys are getting rarer by the day, Blades dash or not, especially old Xenons. I don't quite view em as 'throw aways' until you have a bad motherboard. Then its parts imo.
