Hello Ruoshi, I have just discovered you when searching for a transcription of Pur Ti Miro. Is it possible to purchase your transcriptions? I'm enjoying them very much and would like to play them myself. Thanks, Cathy
@RuoshiSun2 күн бұрын
Cathy, thank you so much for your interest in my work! Most of my transcriptions are freely available at IMSLP, including Pur Ti Miro (under L'Incoronazione di Poppea): imslp.org/wiki/Category:Sun,_Ruoshi (click on the Arranger tab). The IMSLP score and KZbin video should be cross referenced in their descriptions. If it's not there (such as this one), I can put it on my Patreon: www.patreon.com/c/RuoshiSun/shop . However the platform imposes a minimum list price of $3 for an item. Just let me know which piece(s) you're interested in!

I love this transcription. It brings out those amazing dissonances. I am learning to sing the piece, and though it is obviously not as hard to sing as to play, there are challenges, as the voice has to switch rapidly from the low passagio to the middle, which is almost impossible to do smoothly. The struggle usually shows, which does kind of fit the spirit of the aria.

I've only sung a Bach chorale in high school, and that was difficult enough for me! As you said, there's always that unexpected leap. Are you doing the 3rd movement as well? (I tried to follow along casually, but I need like 2-3 breaths for every phrase!)

Thank you! Indeed, it's one of the most challenging pieces that I've both transcribed and played. If interested also check out "Widerstehe doch der Sünde" and Kyrie eleison from the Mass in B minor: kzbin.info/aero/PLzn9AgnjjJPkpw_9k4TyhvMpLlS4p9lNn That playlist contains other difficult music.

@RuoshiSun Beautiful... Your channel is an incredibly good finding, as I'm doing Mass service as an organist (actually it is a harmonium) and was trying to get some repertoire ideas that would fit well into the liturgy and these transcriptions you do are perfect. The original music is full of religious connotation and the transcriptions make it possible to play them on the harmonium. Thanks for the great work, best wishes!

Many thanks for the piano version of this seasonally appropriate and beautiful chorale movement. The very graceful chorale prelude "Meine Seele erhebet den Herren, P.362" by Pachelbel about a text line of the Magnificat is also well suited to the current pre-Christmas period. Perhaps you would like to record a graceful and not too fast piano transcription of it. You can listen to a good organ version here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWrKdnudgr1-bdEsi=GRtj0tGSoajje-x3&t=248

what's up with the tuning?
@RuoshiSun11 күн бұрын
The Werckmeister temperament is one of the "well temperaments" from the Baroque Period. Buxtehude, the famous organist whom Bach visited when he was 20 years old, is known to have adopted it. We do not know for sure if Bach used this temperament, but we know that keyboard instruments during that time were not tuned to equal temperament.

@RuoshiSun thank you! Which one are you using in this video?
@RuoshiSun11 күн бұрын
I'm using "Werckmeister" on Yamaha CLP-785. (See faq.yamaha.com/sg/s/article/000002474 for the full list and description.) I don't have the ears to tell which subtype it is (there are 4 according to Wikipedia). Unfortunately, Yamaha customer support couldn't answer that question either...

Interesting, i'd say you can bring the cadences even more. And the left hand can be more legato, you put a movement in every eight notes even when there's clear legato lines. Make it breath! And you put no pedal until the final chords, then you go 100% legato pedal, why? They're homophonic chords, like a string quartet doing only down bows. Each chord needs to be separated slightly for a more marcatto effect.
@RuoshiSun17 күн бұрын
Thank you for listening attentively and for your feedback on alternative interpretations. Speaking of which, here Schiff plays the last few chords in a completely different way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYK7qX2CqKZsaKM I think these are all viable and interesting interpretations. But of course in a single recording I can only choose one.
