i gained 10 kg with this pos med, just great how the doctor didnt even gave me a warning about the possible side effects. btw i used to be able to eat whatever and any amount i wanted without gaining weight, tbh i always ate like an animal. wasnt age either since i was 34 when i started and roped it after 6 months. it completely removed any single trace of anxiety from my being though, actually insane how effective it was for that cause BUT i was prescribed for social phobia, not anxiety, and it didnt improved at all in that regard, not even doing therapy. when i tried to put a pair of jeans and saw they didnt fit me anymore i never felt so bad in my life, im kind of underweight for my height since im a guy but i dont think its fine to gain so much weight with belly fat.

I gained 12kg with lexapro in 2 years. I stopped taking it 2 years ago and I still havent been able to lose a single pound. People and my doctor telll me to go to a dietitian but I never needed one. Ive always had a beautiful body and I have a decent knowledge of nutrition. It's frustrating and depressing. If your doctor wants to prescribe you this, ask them if theres another option. Im currently on luvox, which doesnt affect my appetite anymore so even though I didnt lose any weight at least I have stopped gained new pounds.

Try Sitt . Sprint training of 2 orr 30 seconds as fast as you can. Rest and repeat around 4 times. Do this 2 or 3 times a week. It changes metabolism profoundly and browns fat so you can lose it.

Getting a haircut is the worst one for me. The awkward silence, and occasional small talk 😮‍💨 I keep telling them I like growing my hair long but then I have enough and need to cut it. It is partly true but also that way I expose myself to that situation lesser

I gained 10 pounds right away after taking amatryptaline for IBS pain stopped that last week and started very low dose lexapro and it decreased my appetite in half and lost 3 pounds in 4 days . I told my dr if I gain one pound from this that I will stop it or change to something else so I’m very cautious. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I don't know if I have anxiety or not, but I despise crowds with a passion. I plan my grocery trips for when Costco has the least number of people, early Sunday morning. I do know that when I get out of the store, it's with a sigh of relief though. Good coping mechanism to use the headphones though!

I wish you the best of luck coming out of this struggle. I suffered with some of the exact same symptoms - the heat, the anxiety of people thinking "what's wrong with her" - I was able to access therapy and eventually got better. Life is a lot easier now. You are smart and self aware, I believe you will overcome this someday. Please hold hope.

Thanks so much for posting this! Could you maybe explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Sure! Well I will start off by saying that everyone reacts differently. Some people can be awake through the entire process, I can remember seeing the screen for about 10 seconds in the room and then I was out. They gave me an IV and something to help relax me, which I totally could’ve gone without. And then said they were giving me the medication to put me to “sleep”. All I felt was the medication going in and it felt like a rush of hot water. My eyes got super heavy and I was asleep. I never felt a thing. It felt like I was only in there for 10 mins max but it was actually closer to 45 mins. So so simple!! And zero pain afterwards. I wouldn’t of even realized I had anything done.

Good for you for driving in teh crappy weather. It's no fun, but we live in Canada, so have to face it at some time. Keep teh vids coming Kayla, i love em!

It's been 3 years for me and I gained 30 pounds. I eat better now then I used to but I'm more hungry and tired. My doctor suggested switching to welbutrin to help lose weight. Never go cold turkey off a psych med. I hope to wean off SSRIs very very slowly over months or years. It's in God's hands.

You aren’t alone I’m in the process of stopping Lexapro now I used to weigh 160 which I still wanted to loose a little weight at that time (3 years ago) Now, 3 years later I weigh 190 and am struggling to get it off. I hate the way I look I feel SO uncomfortable in my body. I’m now counting calories myself to try to lose weight. If it weren’t for my old job messing with my mental health and making it worse I wouldn’t never gone on Lexapro. I hope one day we both meet our goal!

Hey, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this. Please know that you are not alone. I also gained weight from Lexapro. About 10kgs. It's been two months since I stopped. I also couldn't lose weight while on Lex despite counting calories and exercising. I'm hoping to see some difference no that I've stopped. Hope you can find your answers and eventually lose that weight.

I can't comment. The last day Sarah and I went out this year I forgot my wallet with my wildlife card and RPAL. It would not have been good to get stoopped by the forest nazis with no IDs. I passed between puckering my ass and kicking it for being so stupid.

Simple reality of SSRIs and weight gain: Serotonin and dopamine are on a seesaw. If either is low you will be driven to over eat. Dopamine sweets like candy. Serotonin starches like potatoes bread pasta. If either serotonin or dopamine is too high, it drives the other down and you will overeat. They must be in relatively moderate in their levels. But people don’t live moderate lifestyles nor moderate goals nor have a moderate modern culture. So you end up on a lifestyle and philosophic roller coaster and blocking the reuptake of one and that will drive up the other and lower the target. The pills also ensure you stay on a rollercoaster. The rest of the extrapolations doctors and academics use is to distract from the negative results people are paying them for that we wouldn’t if we knew the truth.

Also dopamine raises metabolism to a degree. So if you take a drug that as a secondary effect lowers dopamine you will not have as fast of a metabolism. But the BIGGEST effect by far is how these chemicals change your appetite. The amount and the choice of foods. People lose interest in plain healthy food and want richer more calorie dense food even when not eating a lot in quantity.

I gained 60 lbs in 6 years on it even tho nothing changed diet wise. My diet got better actually. Im tapering now - it’s been a year of tapering and I’ve gone down from 10 mg to 3.5. Tapering is excruciating and not a joke. I wish i never took the drug but going through this had taught me so much and I hope I can help others one day. x
