My Dad, Ilias, Monaf (who left and made Shabna in Monton) and Moina's Dad were all shareholders of Selina at the top of the stairs. Jerry was the Irish ex-boxer who was the bouncer. I used to go in since the 70s as a kid, till it got sold due to VAT reasons. Delmoring was the company name used many years later in the early 90s. My friend and his dad bought it (the ex-chief of Selina and his son, Islam) and it became Eastern Tandoori after that (I think the sign is still there) and then Moina bought it (son of one of the original partners of Selina Restaurant. I used to go in to see my Dad and also when he wasn't there and ate tandoori chicken, chips and gravy with my friends for free. I enjoyed helping put up the xmas decorations we bought from Makro back in 1978/79 before we changed the ceiling lighting. We used those decorations for decades ! We bought it it as the Canadian Steak House originally, hence the maple leaves on the toilet signs. A good place and lots of lovely memories, especially the xmas meals. I went walking with my mum round the back of it the other day , and all round the service section, the main precinct and took videos and pictures with her., especially near the service part of the old Selina. A spray artist called 'Rogue' used to spray his name everywhere. He died falling from the top of the multi story trying to spray his name. I was never sure if it was a rumour as it was before the Advertiser newspaper existed. The butchers originally was our storeroom in the 70s, then Mario's chippy opened, but before the butcher opened I think that the precinct wasn't fully built, but I could be wrong.

The Oddfellows Arms was popular with Eccles College students in the Eighties. Doesn't look like many of the pubs are left now.

In the early 80s I think the tandoori place at the top of the steps was a great Indian restaurant called the 'Salina' or something like that; full of piss heads on any given night (me included) but with a mad Irish lightweight boxer on staff to keep peace......memories of mayhem! I was thinking back to my time working with hundreds of other people right next door at the Royal Ordnance Factory ("ROF") in Patricroft - skilled, well paid, secure jobs.....ancient history now sadly. Watching this from 11 time zones & nearly four decades distant is poignant but heart-warming too; thanks for taking the time & effort to create this content; it's excellent.

It's definitely an eye sore mate 😂😂😂 looks horrendous that multi story building. The only thing that's worse in Salford is the Swinton Library

Lived here (not here specifically thankfully), but within the M30 postcode, for 20 years. This area really needs investment, evidently. Lots of great people live in Eccles, looks like a third world country now though, impoverished.

Used to eat my dinner on here when i went to college up the road. Be sad to see the place be smashed to bits but its massively out of date now, it does need flattening.

So sad to see the place in this state. So many memories as a child. I remember all the shops being full and hundreds of people everywhere you looked. And yes I always wanted to know what was at the top of the ramp but my dad always went in the underground bit of the car park 😂

@ross9555 I tried to get up close but it wasnt possible to get anywhere near the top, gates closed and no authorisation signs everywhere. I tried to cover as much as I could though. Soon be part 2 when the old place starts getting demolished. Very sad for me.
