Town Hall pub went up for auction in Feb 2024, no idea if it sold or not. Duke Of York is on the market for 1.5 million.

Fab video. Lived in Vicars St (over the glass bridge from Eccles Centre) in 70s. Then it was vibrant. Remember C&V JONES the travel agents? Before International supermarket it was Redmans where you could sit and have a mug of hot Bovril. Happy days.

Eccles is now as a vibrant as a funeral mate.

So sad to see the place in this state. So many memories as a child. I remember all the shops being full and hundreds of people everywhere you looked. And yes I always wanted to know what was at the top of the ramp but my dad always went in the underground bit of the car park 😂

@ross9555 I tried to get up close but it wasnt possible to get anywhere near the top, gates closed and no authorisation signs everywhere. I tried to cover as much as I could though. Soon be part 2 when the old place starts getting demolished. Very sad for me.

Had to do it with all the memories since I was a kid in the 70s. Really sad though we will never get to see these things ever again.

Done the same myself. I managed to go onto the first floor next to the car park. Close up one floor up, it really is in a bad state.

Lived here (not here specifically thankfully), but within the M30 postcode, for 20 years. This area really needs investment, evidently. Lots of great people live in Eccles, looks like a third world country now though, impoverished.
