I had second eye cataract surgery on May 1rst 2024, right after surgery I had distorted vision, lines look weavy and I feel like looking through a film of water. I also see things streched out vertically since the first day, nothing has improved just yet. I was diagnosed with CME one month after surgery and just started prednisolone 1% 4 times a day for 4 weeks until I see the retina doctor again. I am honestly terrified and frustrated. The ofthalmologist told me that all symptoms are related to the CME, even the Vertical elongation on my left eye which is my dominating eye (I have monovision), my right eye is for reading. I am very concerned because I see all of this right after surgery and it is difficult to believe that such and elongation will be resolved after the cme is hopefully resolved. I have read a lot about surgery complications snd have not found anything in relation to this vertical distortion 😔. I am an artist and can not see perfect squares or circles anymore like I used to before surgery. What is even more frustrating is that the same doctor did my right eye 4 years ago leaving my vision with a horizontal elongation . The correccion for reading is 20/20 but if I close my left eye everything looks like a football ball horizontally😔. Now after my left eye surgery the elongation is the opposite. I truly hope that this gets better and I can find an option to have my vision life back 😔😔😔

Now I have PCO only a month or so after my cataract/IOL surgery. I didn't get any of those suggestions you mentioned or that treatment with that pen like thing over the eyelids! Now my eyes are so dry!

I had my cataracts removed and had new IOL's put in this past April. Afterwards I followed up with my surgeon. Everything was good. Then a few weeks later I went to another doctor in the practice to get fitted for readers. He examined me and said both my eyes now have a wax growing like a ruffle potato chip. He said I must have a really good immune system which is good. I'm a 72 old woman and I take a lot of supplements. So now I was told to go home and come back in 2 to 3 months because the wax has to harden!!!! I made a follow-up appointment for June 27th which is only a month but that's what the receptionist gave me. My eyes feel horrible. They are very dry and feel like rocks or sand in there. My vision is blurry. He prescribed a prescription eye drop. When I got them, I read the pamphlet and God Damn It, there is Fluoride in it! I threw it in the trash! Why would he prescribe this knowing that I am very much into supplementation and natural health!!!!! I am totally pissed off that the surgeon did not once inform me of this complication!!!! I feel like knocking her eyes out! It doesn't seem right that a patient is not informed of this complication for the cataract surgery! Thank you for making this video.

I am very near sighted and have a strong glasses prescription. If the surgeon does one eye at a time and corrects the vision to 20/20, how will I be able to function in the two weeks between surgeries? Would they take the lens out my glasses on the corrected side?

How do so many folks wind up at 20/20? For most of my life I’ve been reading without glasses. Can I possibly go to 20/20 results? What kind of IOL or premium lens can I hope for?

Help me! Thank you so much for this video. I have a few questions. OD +0.25 x -2.00... OS -4.00 x -1.25... I'm one of those rare lucky ducks with completely different eyes. Zenni won't even make bifocals for me unless I knock the +0.25 down to plano. Currently, I have polycarbonate but they are so scratched. I guess 1.61 for those? I would do CR39 but guessing they'd be too thick? I'm also getting computer glasses, OD +1.75 x -2.00..... OS -2.75 x -1.25... Can I get away with cr-39? Is there a chart somewhere with recommendations for lens types based on prescription strength? Is the the sphere the only number that matters,l ehen deciding, or should the cylinder be factored in as well? Is it simple math, like +0.25 -2.00 = -1.75 ? Thanks, sorry for so many questions.

Thanks. For years, I have purposely put Thoreau's book Walden up within about 3 inches of my eyes in a major effort to reduce the effects of Presbyopia. I am able to read those letters although not in perfect focus, but they are also far from blurred. As a senior, I do not need glasses so far. I purposely cause eyestrain as it represents a kind of workout. The trick is to try to focus at a distance far closer than a typical reading distance. Then as you push the book away to reading distance, you become more relaxed and it is not really a workout at that point. After an occasional intense session, about 2 days later, I have had a gritty discharge from the corners of my eyes. Perhaps this is from partially dissolving the extra layers on the outside of the lenses. Those layers would be the ones most exposed to frictional forces. Sometimes when I have shown people around my age a written sheet of paper, they jump back like they have seen a rattlesnake. Dr. Ray Gottlieb, who is much older than myself, is a behavioral optometrist who does not need glasses and has created a system of charts and exercises to minimize the effects of Presbyopia. From Oliver Wendall Holmes: "There is now living in New York State an old gentleman who, perceiving his sight to fail, immediately took to exercising it on the finest print, and in this way fairly bullied nature out of her foolish habit of taking liberties at five-and-forty, or thereabout. And now the old gentleman performs the most extraordinary feats with his pen, showing that his eyes must be a pair of microscopes." Thanks again.

I was outside, squirted myself with the hose to cool off and got something in the eye. Now left eye is all DEEP red and I am using Sandoz Tobramycin (first day). When I wake up my eye is closed shut by nasty goop so it's likely bacterial. When I am at work my left eye is covered up and I am more careful. But since I took my first dose all I wanna do is shut my eye like I am tired or something.

Thank you for the best and most detailed explaination I've found. I'm being treated for CME after cataract surgery in my second eye. I don't have diabetes or any other underlying condition that I'm aware of. I noticed blurrines and lack of contrast immediately after surger rather than weeks or months out. Should I be concerned about the immediacy of the symptoms?

Ok, clear as mud. the XtraActive vs Gen S? If both go to Category 3 -- and Gen S is faster, why would I buy the XtraActive? I have XtraActive and unless the UV is harsh and its really hot outside, I doubt it gets past Category 2. Your thoughts? I will say when driving -- for sure, XtraActive never get past Category 2 and that is 100% fact. Last, which is the darkest Gan S in brownish tint -- Amber or Brown? I will buy today if the new Gen S is faster, a real true always Cat 3 lens.

Thanks for your comment for me, but if you read all of my comments on this video younwill find that my op was performed over a year ago and my eyesight is now worse in that eye. I had my optician look at my pre op test and my post op test after 6 months. Also added dry eye and floaters extra for free!

I had my cataract surgery on May 8 and my vision is still blurry so I definitely think that something is wrong. They actually put an abrasion on my cornea during the surgery and I couldn’t see out of my eye for four days and then when I could see out of my eye, I saw fine for about three days and then I started having double vision, which I still have and I have blurry vision.
@mikeske977710 күн бұрын
I had cataracts and had them taken care of in March 2024. After consulting with the doctor I selected the monofocal lens as I did not mind still having to wear glasses, I drive at night and wanted to eliminate any potential glare and the astigmatism I had was slight in the left eye in the cornea and not much if at all in the cornea in the right eye. The primary thing was to get as much correction in the IOL that would be the simplest because I had far sightedness which was +6.00 in the right eye and +6.25 in the left eye.Also with he normal aging I had +3.00 in both eyes for the bifocal. Post operative I had no correction required in the right eye and +0.25 in the left eye. The correction for reading was a +2.25. I always wondered what it be like to wear glasses that were light as the old one no matter the lens were heavy and I been wearing them since I was 3 years old and I am 66.

Great information. I've used these coatings for years but what I notice now is that they have a yellowish tint. I hate it! I can't tell if they've added a bit of blue blocker or what but they definitely block a bit of blue light. With this info I'm going to look around for a coating that does not have a yellow cast and hope that one exists.

Further to my previous comment my op was on the nhs and it was like going into a factory with peop.e being moved in and out. Nurses standing around chatting whilst i was having the op and dealing with enormous pain. There was no help or care for any patients and i did notice a couple of elderly ladies shaking as they walked by themselves out of the "theatre" to try and find a chair. One was very distressed whilst sitting shaking and could not move at all. I thinking all the staff were brusque, bored and had no empathy.

Completely wrong. I could see all the instruments coming at my eye to dig out and break up the lens. I was in incredible pain and he told me to stop blinking, i was furious so snapped back that if you see an instrument coming towards your eye fast then you do tend to blink. All through the operation it felt as though my eye was being pu❤nched and pushed in. I was in pain for the next 3 days with a throbbing. To cut the story short i still get sharps pains in my eye after a year and flashing intermitent lights, have floaters and dry which i did not have previously. I will not be having my cataract removed from the other eye to have even worse vision again. I do believe there is a link between my optician and my eye surgeon. I really didnt need surgery for cataracts so soon.
@alsmithsr42966 күн бұрын
First off, you can't blink doing cataract surgery because they use a device to hold your eye open, so stop lying.
