OMFG THESE SAME VIDEOS ARE THE ACTUAL ***"LONG WAY"*** OF DOING THIS WELD. NO WAY IN HELL DO YOU NEED TO GO THRU 4-5 DIFFERENT MACHINES & PROCESSES TO MAKE AN ANGLE CUT OUT FOR A BETTER AMOUNT OF WELD TO ASSURE YOU GET A GOOD HOLD NOT JUST A BOND. BCUZ A BOND IS ONLY AS GOOD AS IT'S HOLD. THAT'S USUALLY BASED ON NUMBERS/SIZE, BCUZ THE MORE IT HAS, THE STRONGER IT IS. OR SIMPLY PUT: THE MORE WELD YOU PUT IN THAT AREA THE STRONGER 💪 YOUR WELD IS.

It’s so great to watch your video. Wonderful work!!! May I ask you a question about how many faces / corner do we need weld in order to keep the structural stable ? After watching your video, I just found there is one flange corner/ below one flange( I am not sure how to describe where it is precisely) you have not welded. Does it matter?

@@TheMetalFabGuy One more question, Since 2015, I have a small factory in china about 2000 square meter, in total 55 I beams as , I just found that there are only two or three I beams not fully welded one month ago. When I ask construction team they told me it’s ok, do not worry at all. Then I start searching for the information online, finally got here. The video you post as I mentioned before very similar with my factory beams weld status. So I am wondering do I need repair? And How much risk influnece for not fully welded two or three beams out of 55 connection? If possible may I send some photo( not fully welded beams) to u ? This message sent from Chengdu, china. Thx in advance~ Jason Du

@jasondu9855 if it’s been in place since 2015 (at least) and you have no issues thus far, or are not planning to adapt, or add extra weight to the existing structure, then i see little reason to be concerned 9 years later. My Personal opinion. Though you should always consult a structural engineer for confirmation. Loads and capabilities (including welding spec) to ensure all is well.

@TheMetalFabGuy4 ай бұрын
Hi, Have a look at the line of your hinges. If they’re not true, it may result in unnecessary friction. Heat shouldn’t be a problem here with the configuration, length of the hinges and amount of weld needed. Good luck with it.

You need to fill in those craters at the end of your weld. They are where cracks will always start. If you also roll your wrist a bit it can help fill them in uniform and cleanly.

I watched a Norton disks video earlier; the chap said that with flat (cutting) disks it does not matter which way round. But the locking washer MUST be flush side down against the disk. The Norton guy also said that all recessed disks like grinding disks, should be mounted with the recess facing out (deepest part inwards), with the locking washer flat side outwards away from the disk, ie the center protrusion inwards.

Welding Galvanized is really not healthy without proper ventilation. It generates different gasses than regular stee. Do your research and be careful out there.
@TheMetalFabGuy5 ай бұрын
💯%. I’d recommend the gym or even walking as a far more healthier activity than galvanized welding. If you can find an open space or hillside, then all the better for ventilation. Always best to do your research. Good advice 👍

to achieve accuracy, formation is not done in that kind of way. the plate is marked in advance, we place the reinforcement, weld it and place it in the element. movement from the axis of the plate holes to the length given by the project. by marking the plate in place, the ears of the ipe hea or heb are never the same, for example if we take a heb 400 above is 400 below is 405mm. so the sleeve does not measure correctly, and the holes move

Thanks for your viewpoint. But untrue. The job went in just fine. As they do 99% to structural engineering fabrication drawings. We’re not building rockets to reach the moon here. Steel fabrication is a lot simpler than the Merlin’s out there who think they can cast magic spells others can’t. All the best 👍

The only thing that I learn was that anyone can pickup a disk and turn it one way or the other in a video without educating us as to, should the label face up or down. I guess people will do anything to get a view on KZbin. Maybe I should post a video asking “should I use my left hand or right hand to open a jam jar” and see how many hits I get.
