I wondered why you had Fenella as Fett until I heard the classic Carry on Screaming line. for the Carbon Freeze/Fry.

Yep, I just have to use that clip so Fennella Fett it had to be :)

He seemed like a really nice guy, but unfortunately, I wasn't a fan, simply because he did the same thing in everything that he was in. That seemed to be the entirety of his 'act', which although funny the first time you saw it soon wore thin very quickly. A couple of days ago, I saw a video on here of a quiz show from the early 70's, in which two teams of comedians/comic actors basically told jokes. It was hosted by Barry Cryer. One of the guests was Jack Douglas who about half way through had to get up and do a 'turn', who unsurprisingly did it as Alf. All he did was what he always ever did. Alf having his comic seizure and losing the contents of his pint.

Grande Cecilia. Adoro Kate che ora immagino ballare con adorabili mosse vestita di rosso. Ottima interpretazione. Uno dei brani più belli che rocordo dai miei ormai 56 anni anagrafici. ❤

Hilarious! Only Bill Shatner's totally crazed -- literally high as a kite? -- genuine cover version surpasses Hawtrey's camped-up AI one: 'Oh hellooo, this is the good stuff!'
@PaIaeoCIive16843 күн бұрын
Scary! Yes, all that hideous 70s fashion and terrible haircuts that people thought were cool! Also, why so much brown clothing back then? Nah, loved it all as a kid. The 'beware of dark water' Public Information film spooked me more than this one as a nipper. Seeing Edward Woodward getting burned in that Wicker Man would've scared me more: 'Oh Christ! Oh Jesus Christ!' indeed.

Hooked on Classics, Jive Bunny and the like were bloody awful, but this is fun. Those Carry One scripts must've had the 'Sid performs a filthy laugh/ridiculing laugh here' prompt a contractual number of times. Like Babs Windsor and Michael Staniforth, Sid's one of the few actors identifiable from his chuckle alone.
@PaIaeoCIive16843 күн бұрын
Bless this House is agreeably dated -- dig those 70s fashions and decor, man (fab!) -- but enjoyable and rather relaxing when I watched some episodes on Talking Pictures TV recently (a goldmine of classic TV). Anything with Sid James and other dependable British light comedy actors in it tends to be worth watching. This film's like pulling on a comfortable sweater and chilling out. Nothing much happens but you rather care about the characters. Not enough of Sid's marvellous dirty laugh for my liking (your video compilation was chuckle-inducing BTW) I preferred Robin Askwith as the son as the TV version comes across as drippy, though his Confession films were dire IMO. Good fun and oh does it remind you of the dayglo 70s (even though I was a young lad then). I also taped beloved programmes onto audiotape to relive them in the pre-video tape era, especially Dr Who and Space 1999! Simple pleasures back then in less cynical times.
@Doctor_Random3 күн бұрын
Absolutely agree .... and I also taped many, many episodes of Doctor Who. :)

I've watched this at least five times and still love it. The AI divine Kate's early girlie voice (pre-Hounds of Love) is pretty good. She'd maybe have done the theme for free if they'd let her cavort in the credits like she does on Wuthering Heights -- the Gothic version video. Kate was bonkers in the early years!

We almost got a new Carry On team, with A Fish Called Wanda / Fierce Creatures. John Cleese and the same cast could have made multiple movies, just like Carry On, did.

Hey, that was a trip down memory lane! I had all but one of those magic books as a nerdy 70's kid and when I was given How to Make Magic it became a favourite read. Despite me practicing my magic tricks were shit, sadly. Went wrong more often than Tommy Cooper's. P.S. Is the laugh Timothy Claypole's from Rentaghost?
