Firstly thank you for doing this compilation and how the public ranked the Carry On films, I was surprised at a few but overall I am happy with the way it turned out, my absolute favourite is At Your Convenience and I voted that my number one in your poll so I’m very happy to see it at number 5. I do love the Carry On franchise and so do so many others. Love the channel and much respect. Frying tonight?? 😂

Carry on At Your Convenience grows on me the more I watch it.

There's a bit in At Your Convenience that isn't typical of the series and it makes it that bit better for it. At the end of the coach trip away, Sid James and Joan Simm each go back to their unhappy home life. As the 2 bid each other farewell and go their separate ways, the pathos is really quite touching. One of the more tender moments in the franchise.

Just as my faith in democracy was being restored, along comes this to convince me that the people know nothing - do they really prefer Behind to Camel and Convenience to Screaming? Ahh well, it’d be dull if we all liked the same things. Thanks for putting this together.

When I saw how low you had ranked C.O.Regardless - and how everyone else had ranked it even lower - I decided to watch it. To my surprise, I loved it. Sure, it's silly, but it has little-to-no smut or innuendo, there is a good helping of Charles H, and it was a delight to see Stanley Unwin, not to mention Bill Owen, and All the Carry On regulars were in top form. Furthermore, I counted no fewer than 24 actors who were known to me (not personally!), and there were several LOL moments. This is a fine example of the typical, barmy, film the English were so good at. Thanks for the recommendation!

Just found you, so I missed the vote. I have Screaming at the top of my list. I've used it as a backdoor intro to the series for people who haven't heard of it before.

Excellent, Screaming is the best for me also 😊

Carry On Follow That Camel deserved a higher placing just for Peter Butterworth .. he steals every scene he is in. I think the problem with Carry On Jack is that it doesn't have enough regulars in it

Great compilation- fantastic to see Up the Khyber and Camping at the top; weren't they supposedly Peter Rogers's favourites as well? Surprised to see Convenience so high, though. Love the Brighton scenes, but the anti-union stuff gets very tiresome pretty quickly. Great to see how fellow fans view the films, though.

Cheers! Yeah, it's interesting to see Convenience so high. I think it got a lot to do with the trip to the seaside.

Only just come across your channel, so I didn't get a chance to vote. I like Carry On Screaming best. I also liked Carry On Spying and Carry On Up The Khyber, Peter Butterworth's mental breakdown during the dinner scene is fabulous (and given his record as a fighter pilot in WW2 speaks volumes about his acting ability too, I saw a documentary which revealed he was shot down over Dunkirk, and escaped from a POW camp). The surprises for me were Carry On Camping winning it, although I suppose Barbara Windsor's bra coming off is probably the most iconic scene of all in these movies; and Carry On Jack being so low down in the list, the Bernard Cribbins/Kenneth Williams amputation scene is hilarious. Btw, what a run they had from 1963 to 1968. I wonder, when you consider that in 1968 three incredible science fiction movies were released that year: 2001, Planet of the Apes and Barbarella (I suppose the latter is a bit of a sex comedy) what they would have done with a scifi epic like Star Wars, Star Trek or Close Encounters?
@Doctor_Random6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great comment! Indeed, I'm surprised they didn't go sci-fi. I do wonder if one was planned or discussed at some point.

"Spying" is a favourite of mine. I think it would have ranked higher if it had been in colour (not everyone can overlook that). That "gone for tiffin" sign in your "Kyber" clip made me laugh out loud. It reminded me that as a kid I thought "tiffin" was another word for "sex" as I'd only ever heard the word tiffin in that film... Only as an adult when a friend offered me tiffin did I find out what it actually means...

love the tiffin story! :)

Nookie dickie, dickie nookie, boss. Jungle is easily one of my faves. I'm surprised at Behind and Convenience being so high. I think Cary On's watermark was late 60's to early 70's.

I've loved most of the films since i was 5 in the mid 80s. I believe i gave you my rankings a few months ago, it seems i'm in the minority with a few i really love. This might be slightly different to an earlier ranking i did, but not by much: 30 Columbus 29 Jack 28 Emmanuelle 27 Henry 26 Up The Khyber 25 Up The Jungle 24 Cleo 23 Nurse 22 Constable 21 Spying 20 Cowboy 19 Teacher 18 Cabby 17 Screaming 16 Follow That Camel 15 Regardless 14 Matron 13 Don't Lose Your Head 12 Doctor 11 Again Doctor 10 Camping 9 Sergeant 8 Cruising 7 Dick 6 England 5 Loving 4 Behind 3 Girls 2 At Your Convenience 1 Abroad

Thanks. Out of interest, what do you think of the film Bless This House, a spin off of the tv show? It was made in 72, the same year as Abroad. I personally love it, and think of it as an unofficial Carry On because of the cast and crew. A cast starring the likes of Sid James, Tery Scott, Peter Butterworth, June Whitfield, Patsy Rowlands, lovely Sally Geeson, Carol Hawkins, and Robin Askwith looks like potentially like a top billing in a Carry On.

Interesting that in Carry on spying the opening scene with the Milkman infiltrating the labs, there's a similar scene with a milkman infiltrating a base in The Living Daylights, also the radio in the scale charmers flute is similar to one with Baron Samedi in Live and let die. No connection probably but interesting none the less

The original black and white ones I did have higher. They felt more like almost serious movies and not so comedies. Still agree with the bottom three and my favourite will always be Carry on Screaming. I do agree with the ones that are just vehicles for Sid James and Barbara Windsor, they just seem nasty.
