The most pertinent piece of information was left out - that the line doesn't have to start or remain within the 9 dot grid. IF this information was given it wouldn't be difficult. The vast majority would assume the line has to both start and end on a dot, seeing the two examples you showed before the solution did that.

There have been many successful military commanders throughout history who have achieved remarkable feats on the battlefield. Their success often resulted from a combination of strategic genius, tactical prowess, leadership qualities, and sometimes a bit of luck. Here are some of the most successful military commanders in history: 1. **Alexander the Great (356-323 BC)**: Alexander of Macedon, known as Alexander the Great, conquered an enormous empire that stretched from Greece to Egypt, Persia, and India. His military campaigns are still studied today for their innovative tactics and strategies. 2. **Genghis Khan (1162-1227)**: Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire, is renowned for his military genius. He created one of the largest empires in history through a combination of brilliant strategy, organization, and the effective use of cavalry. 3. **Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)**: Napoleon was a brilliant military strategist and the Emperor of the French. He conquered much of Europe and is known for his tactical innovations and the Napoleonic Code, which had a profound influence on European law. 4. **Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805)**: Nelson was a British naval commander who played a pivotal role in the Napoleonic Wars. He won several decisive naval battles, including the Battle of Trafalgar, where he died in action. 5. **General Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969)**: As Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during World War II, Eisenhower played a crucial role in planning and executing the successful D-Day invasion in 1944, which eventually led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. 6. **General George Washington (1732-1799)**: Washington was the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He is celebrated for his leadership and strategy in achieving victory over the British. 7. **Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (1884-1943)**: Yamamoto was the mastermind behind the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was one of Japan's most capable naval strategists but was killed in 1943. 8. **Hannibal Barca (247-183 BC)**: Hannibal was a Carthaginian military commander who is best known for his audacious crossing of the Alps and his victories against Rome during the Second Punic War. 9. **Saladin (1137-1193)**: Saladin, a Kurdish Muslim military leader, achieved significant success in the Crusades, including the recapture of Jerusalem from the Crusaders. 10. **Zhuge Liang (181-234)**: Zhuge Liang was a renowned strategist in ancient China, serving as the chief advisor to the Shu Han kingdom. His brilliant strategies, as depicted in the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," made him a legendary figure in Chinese history. These commanders achieved greatness in different time periods and under diverse circumstances, demonstrating their adaptability and skill in a variety of military settings. Their legacies continue to inspire military leaders and historians to this day.
