If anyone is interested, my impeccable GeoGuessr knowledge has led me to conclude that the first spot is just north of super Amart in Helensvale looking south from the rock walls

Thanks ! No you can keep fish from canals, but catch and release is widely practiced and encouraged 👌🏼
