Yes pretty sure . I believe the crappie don’t have the black dot by the gills.

Yes that is blue gill, crappy have bigger mouths and different pattern, but is rare see this big

I've not heard of using liver for blue gills but it looks like that's the ticket, were you going for catfish with the liver and ended with bluegill as a bycatch?

To be honest, we love using chicken liver .We use it to catch carp ,catfish and definitely target the big bluegill at Lake Paris . The only thing we change is the hook size 👍
