We are so happy for you guys, because you seem really happy and ready to be making this change. We have two of the 310’s. One of them was lowered using the lowering link, lowered the forks, and shortened the kickstand for Caroline’s bike. The Rox Risers did help the handling! Let us know what you come up with. John and Caroline ☘️

@@TheGrandShamrockTour i also fitted the lowering link, shortened sidestand and pushed forks through top crown but only 15mm. Was very reluctant to go any further in case handling issues occurred.

@@neilkoos4556 Caroline here… I did not find any issues with handling. I did when we lowered the front forks on a prior 2009 BMW f650 GS. It would dive in the corners a bit. I have not noticed it on this 310. I hope that helps. 👍☘️

Hello friends! I recently caught up to your travels and it made me consider buying an Airstream in Florida! 🤣 We landed in Central Oregon after four years of full time RV and Travel. It was time to get our own address and washer / dryer. 😊 We did purchase a cargo trailer that we will use to haul the motorbikes and possibly camp (vs hotel for Caroline:) Safe travels to you both. Wow... we really like this bike for what it is. Smaller displacement, lighter weight, easy to get around. Depending on road conditions (we got the TKC Rocks tires for using more off road) we did like the stock tires for pavement. I would say yes it is worth it as it handles close to that of the old 800 GS and it gets up to highway speeds easily. Let us know what you decide. J&C ☘

Much thx video. Well done & provides good meeting place for topic. Today installed dash-cam w micro-USB adaptor connected to one of the factory AUX power ports located behind headlight as you described. 2019 G310 GS has only two screws to remove headlight. One each side. Looked for the other two you mentioned underneath but must be only later models. Pulling out the headlight is a challenge - lots of elbow grease. Reinstall even harder. Plastic pry tools are very handy. It could be easier if first remove the headlight connector plug and wire harness. Not sure. In my build left them connected and never removed them. To power dash cam used Dongar 2-Prong Universal (micro USB) 5-volt Adaptor - bought Dongar direct. And 2-Wire Pigtail Harness BMW AUX Connector Plug - off EBay. Soldered & shrink-wrapped together. Secured w zip-ties. Got it all back together. Everything works great. Am thankful no damage to headlight or the fairings. Thanks again great video - got us pointed right direction. BMW Owners Manual says very little about these AUX power ports (i.e. ' Onboard Power Sockets ' )

Hello! Thanks for the comments and hopefully your comments will help others in doing the install. The local BMW shop was no help in suggesting how to install… but they would charge over $100.00 to do it. 😂 The 2023 does have the two wires for options to connect to. Getting to the wires is tricky and the “finesse” to get in and out can be a challenge. Great work on taking it slow and doing it right. 👍 We both have a helmet cam instead of dash cam so likely will not get back in there for now. 😅 Thanks again for reaching out. Travel safe. @@TheGrandShamrockTour Yes the guy I talked with at BMW dealer where I bought didn't know about the AUX power sockets behind the headlight. Yep the 2019 also has the two AUX power sockets there. The 2nd one looks a bit harder to access but prob fine after you cut the zip-tie. Yeah removing the headlight was one time deal for me. Never again I hope

Hi John - just happened to come across your video as I was tackling the Rox Risers on my new F750GS! Nice job, it was very helpful! I did have a problem with my install - I removed the NavVI mount and found the bolts on the triple clamp were much taller, too tall to allow the risers to pivot. So I switched out 2 of the bolts from my F700 to allow for the space to pivot the bars closer to the rider.

Ahh! Very good question! 😀 We have purchased new tires and have been slow to get the video out. We chose the Continental TKC 70 Rocks. They are working great in the dirt. Took our dirt safety training with them and they were stable, handled well, and got plenty of traction. Thanks for asking! John ☘️

Hello! We used two inch risers and there was just enough clearance “lock to lock” on the handle bars and wiring. The Rox Risers really are one of the best additions we made. 👍😀 Good luck! John ☘️

I have the same helmet and love it with the in built Comms👍 You probably know ? but you can install the SC2 App on your phone for extra information when it Bluetooth connects to the headset and if you click on the settings wheel on top right of the phone screen, you can see the battery life, which lasts ages between charges 👍😃 I also have a Puig screen on my bike which is great too 👍😃I’m so glad I found your Utube channel which I really enjoy 😊 thanks for posting 👍 cheers Karl 😃

Thank you for that tip about removing the sensor BEFORE refilling the tank with propane. That was the one question that I had on my mind. And marking the sensor position by drawing a circle around it with a black marker is a great idea in order to reinstall the sensor AFTER the tank is refilled is also a great time saver!

Hello! We use the SW Motech tank ring and bag. The magnet works so well and it removes very easily. We did not want “straps” across the tank as some systems have that. A bit more expensive but worth it! Let us know what you decide. 😀 John and Caroline ☘️

Hey John thanks for bringing us this video , I know it’s been up a little while but just watched it , I have an E2 it is the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever had , and like you I’ve had way too many , there are only two little things that can be a little testing , 1 is the visor can be difficult to shut completely and 2 sometimes I struggle with the opening mechanism, but I’d still thoroughly recommended it 👌👍great vid stay well and ride safe 👊👌👍

At 8100 miles, I finally wore out the original Metzeler Tourance tires on my G310GS. They did well on and off road. They're the most road oriented tire I ever had. I've always ridden dual sport bikes with barely street legal knobbies. I'm probably going to install some Shinko 804/805 tires or Kenda Big Block tires... something more of a 50% on/off road tire. No doubt I'll miss the Tourance when riding on the road, but I'll appreciate more traction off road.

We agree with you on the Dunlops! However, finding a tire that we can enjoy for 4-5000 miles will be great. We liked the traction of the Rocks. Review out soon. 😀👍

Lighter is better off road. ADV riders have been begging for a lightweight off road oriented ADV bike that makes enough power to cruise on interstates without being near red line. The mainline motorcycle manufacturers reluctantly offered smaller ADV bikes but they seemed careful to feature reduce them to avoid competing with their bloated mid and full size ADV bikes. I bought a G310GS as the best bike for my old man travels, and honestly, it's plenty capable of doing the old man off road riding I want to do. I don't ride on highways much but when I do, I wish it had 50 HP instead of 34 HP. Mostly, I wish it had a 5 gallon fuel tank instead of 2.9 gallons.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments! We have found that we do appreciate the smaller lighter bikes. They did well in the dirt without lack of power. The tires helped and still had enough power. We had larger bikes and would not have taken them to this class. We can tell you… no one paid any attention to us as they were too worried about their own heavy GS bikes. 😂

Here in Spain the propane tanks are stainless steel so non-magnetic. You also trade your empty cylinder for a new full one so you don't want to fix anything permanently to the cylinder. Will Mopeka work with stainless steel and how do you attach it in a way that isn't permanent?

Hello! Yes, it will work with Stainless Steel as it reads the volume of propane it the liquid form. I attach mine with the included magnets and the peace of mind using fiberglass strapping tape / gaffers tape to easily remove for filling (or in your case - exchange). Im gping to add fog lites. On same hiway had driver take a L in front of me from a T intersection, and 10 miles later a car pulled out to over a truck- ' hey like you know Im in this lane right?" I had to emergency brake again and pull over to rt as far as ...finally it pulled back in. I was toast otherwise. More lites the better.

Wow. So sorry this happened to you! We say "Head on a swivel" but really... other drivers MUST be watchful for motorcyclists! We have seen our share of drivers not paying attention. One thing we have attempted to do with the G310GS is to get off the bigger highways. This is not always possible, but it does allow for quicker reaction times and slower speeds. We are planning on adding the Denali horn since the 310 horn is so quiet. We will let you know price and function soon. Stay safe out there. John and Caroline ☘️

Thank you! We love the Shamrock Flag… we have flown that flag long enough that we needed a new one. 🤣☘️🇮🇪 We went to Ireland several years ago and found it to be so wonderful we want to go back. Well… we are both Irish. 😂 Have a great weekend.

Your video has given us such great information we can use while traveling through Oregon this fall. The dunes on the coast of Oregon looked Amazing! Absolutely started to read Investment Biker… now I need to go back and finish it. 😂 You are so going to enjoy the PNW and Oregon Coast. Be sure and check the State Parks. Crater Lake is wonderful as well. Plenty of wineries and breweries in several areas. 👍😀
