Will a slice in my air box tube cause scuffing on my piston

It is possible for this to occur. Without knowing more specifics it will be difficult to determine if this is the reason for scuffing. However, if a vehicle has an unintended opening introducing unregulated air behind the MAF, this could cause a lean condition and lead to overheating the piston. Additionally, dirty air (not cleaned by the air filter) could introduce contaminants into the engine and also lead to failure.

Piston coatings are a gimmick and nothing more! The best way to retain oil on a skirt is knurling! Smokey Yunik proved this back many years ago!

You edited the the video, but you did not correct yourself uninstalling the oil control rings. This could really confuse somebody on their first time doing this.

May I humbly suggest that any cast iron rings be warmed before fitting them as they are so easily broken, and so difficult to replace, sadly I learned the hard way.!

What would you guys recommend for a VR6 3.2 with mostly daily driving, occasional drag racing and some nür laps? Between 8 - 8.5:1 CR, 700-ish daily awhp and 1000-ish drag/track hp. 2.5/3.3 bar boostgoals. As far as i could find, your 3.2 VR pistons are 142P correct?

a dumb question that i keep finding conflicting answers about... does the orientation of the oil expander spring/ring matter? open end facing up/down? I'm assuming it doesn't since your instructions and the total seal instructions that came with my rings don't specify..

How do 4032 forged pistons compare to something like Toyota's thixocast/semi-solid cast pistons(justifiably labeled "semi-forged" due to aligned grain structure)? Please do not take the word "cast" out of context and actually do some research on them before replying.

My wear pattern looks like the second from the left but the finish looks faded since its not worn through yet. Only 500 miles or so and its got oily/gummy carbon residue on top of the pistons. I figure it never seated

I was struggling to get a c clip retainer back in place near the end of a rod that supports my mower deck when i watched your video. I have a tool designed for that --but it was 67 miles away. Luckily the rod end by the clip groove was beveled and i had a box end wrench a smidgen bigger than the rod and about the same size as the clip. Pressed it on first try.

No, and to note most of our rings are file fit .005 over. The customer then files the ring down with the correct equipment to get the desired ring gap.

What is the probability that piston rings will overheat and fail due to lack of oil/lubrication AND yet there is no galling on the piston skirt? In other words, will inadequate lubrication that leads to piston ring failure always be accompanied with piston galling?

Each case is different when a failure occurs. It is best to contact our division directly and discuss a specific failure. Can there be a failure of the rings with no pin galling - yes. Is it from lack of lubrication or was it due to for example incorrect ring gap? In these situations, we ask that a customer consult with our engineering department directly with specifics about their application.

Sure wish someone would make a stock cast replacement that had a usable compression height. In order to get a good 383 piston for a stock rebuild I have to order a set of forged and specify the compression height other wise the piston is .075 down in the bore and that is no good. Also theye would need to be make here not some cheap Communist Chinese pot metal piston.

Love yalls products ! I have a 2012 srt 8 392 and I purchased the 4032 pistons and went with a redeye cam lifters and also have long tubes. This will be a street car with very minimal drag runs. I plan on adding forced air and my goals are 650-700 at most rwhp did I make the right decision or would y’all have recommended the 2618? Thanks in advance !

The GRAFAL coating is its 0.024mm thick with a 0.005mm tolerance. What piston set are you using?
