Where do you even get the idea from that red blinking lights, closed gates and a train honking closeby means "I can still make it and save 3 minutes"? :/ Ohh also a BIG Sign that says "Do not cross when gates are down"...

I've thought about it several times, but its not the safest spot to stand, plus i would be looking INTO the sun and that would cause massive back light. I'll look into it though

It’s odd… but at that same time more useful than a standard doghouse, which in nj can just be replaced by those other ones that act similar to this one, ability without the red light.

Thank you! So do I, not many of these beauties left on this line. Yes, there was, but passenger service ended on this line in 1966. I don't know if the signals were adjusted since then

Yea, they were programed like that back when Passenger Trains ran this line. Even though they stopped running them, the signal timing was never corrected

Those are the one that have been "retired" from revenue service and been put into freight duty. Usually this is done when a locomotive is about to be retired for good but they still need power

It basically inspects the rail for defects (broken section or kink) and then reports back to dispatcher I like it!
