Hello :)I understand that with this program we can change the factory sounds to others by combining, for example, 2 different accordion sounds, right? The question is, do we hear the effect of our work when we press the accordion keyboard?

Thank you for viewing my video! I am not sure how new you are to the Roland, but there are factory sets (can't be changed), user sets (these you can change/edit) and user programs. I go through all of these in other videos, you will find them on my channel or by searching on youtube (joe karwoski sound sets). Can you create your own expansion set from other virtual instruments?
@joekarwoski14 күн бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching my video! That is an excellent question! I am going to say a qualified no. The first problem would be to get the "sound samples" for the instruments you would like to include. The second problem would be to get it into the format that is required by the FR-1x. I guess what I am saying is that you would need a great deal of time/money/access to instruments for sampling and then access to Roland's proprietary software. Could it be done - yes, but not by a average user. Sorry for the "no answer", but I loved the question and the thought of doing that.

I have recalibrate again..and push hard on the 3 buttons and power on..I succeed than I shut power off again... on succes... .again of and on ...again sound without the bellows ..? So my conclusion is back to the store ..! it's not reliable to play for myself and public . ..greetings and thank you for giving the info..good weekend Joe and keep playing ..

Hi Robert - There is only one time that I know or when the screen will give you ADP (and it could easily happen when you are trying to recalibrate the bellows). As you know when you recalibrate you need to press 3 buttons (one of then is the free bass) and turn the power on. If you hold the free bass when the accordion is on AC power, it will tell you that the adapter (ADP) is connected. I am hoping that is what is going on for you. Let me know. Joe

The instrument arrived Wednesday afternoon and I have been playing with it since then. It's a beautiful instrument but unfortunately got bad luck and got a "lemon" out of the box. Sound great has more features than I can use but the problem is faulty dynamic bellows control. In a nutshell, it doesn't do a thing no matter what settings (menu 14.1) are used. Bellows are hard like a barn door and it's hard to play and they almost do not move an inch. Yesterday I called Dale Matiews and he helped me with the setting, restoration of factory settings, restoration of his sounds, below calibration etc. We spent over an hour trying to resolve the belows problem but nothing helped. He is out of ideas. Also am I. By watching you video i am quite shure there is problem with the hardware, any ideas?

@ you are welcome. Also the lowest notes on the treble side when on the highland setting, simulate the drones, of which there are three on a standard set of pipes. Two middle and a low, tuned to A, ( think 2, 8 foot and 1, 16 foot reeds, but with no Musette or Tremelo tuning ), on the Roland you can select different drone notes and have multiple drone notes playing at once.

Kurt here again- I'm programming some user patches! But I find a quirk or something I'm missing- if I assign an orchestra sound (3c- clarinet), instead of accordion in the right hand, that is saved correctly and calls back up correctly. But if I assign that clarinet to the backup sound (the saved patch plays accordion, but I want to switch to orchestra)- it alway plays flute (3a) when I recall it. It appears to save the number but always plays the "a" sound instead of b, c, or d. Does that make sense?

Joe- thanks for all your help! On the 1x- I’m wondering what you can suggest- First, a simple question- right hand sounds can be combined in dual mode. What about bass in the left hand? Can I have an electric bass sound while also stacking it with an accordion sound on the bass part? Now the bigger question. Where can I find a definitive and complete answer to the basic question of sets, programs, subsets, user programs, and how all of these are related to each other? I started on a fairlight series III 40 years ago and compose in Logic professionally…just saying I’m no slouch…and no manual or video is clear on their relationships. Is this right?…There are 16 sets, each with 14 accordion sounds(programs) under it (I’m ignoring orchestra, etc for now.). But there are only 8 writable programs…no sets? Except the front panel says there are 4 user sets (page 22 of manual). And when I load up alpine and orchestra, where are those? And how many available? I can’t find a clear answer anywhere. Thanks much!
@joekarwoski28 күн бұрын
Thanks for viewing my videos! For your first question, I don’t know (or at least have not found) a way to play both orchestral and accordion on the bass side. The best I have been able to do is edit the sounds. Now to your second question - that is a very confusing topic! I am going to start by suggesting you take a look at my video on FR-1x memory. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIXVmpqil6hsqqs I think that video will help you a lot. Here is the setup in a nut shell. The FR-1x comes with 16 “accordion types” separated into 4 groups: Classic, Jazz, World and User. The first 12 (Classic, Jazz and World) you cannot change. So if you are in Jazz 2-4 Studio, your master will sound the way they programmed it at Roland - no changes possible. The good news is that the last 4 are User Defined - Roland has given 4 default types (Alpine, TexMex, etc). These may be over written by user sets that you create yourself or download. Here is a link to a video I did on loading the Roxy Sets. Here is that link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3fEpYxqqaaMq9k To continue with your question, where are the expansion sets? There are two memory locations (sounds like you already loaded them). The real question is: How do I get to them? You need to create a user set and then load it into one of the 4 User Defined Sets. I also have a video on how to do that. User Programs are different than User Sets. The FR-1x gives you 8 locations to save those. Those are really great if you are trying to setup for a show. They make it easy to change setups quickly. I hope this has helped. -Joe

I've had a mishap while trying to install third party sound sets and user program. I decided to start from scratch by doing a factory reset, but I notice that I still have issues. This tells me that a factory reset only clears the stored parameters but NOT the sound files. Does that match up wiht your experience? Thought I would leave the note in case others are having the same problem. Thanks for your videos!
@joekarwoski29 күн бұрын
Thanks for viewing my video! Yes, that matches. You are able to restore the factory sounds for U1 - U4. In the parameter list there is a setting called UrC (it is about 40 clicks in from the start). That will allow you to reset the User Program sounds (Alpine, Cajun, Tex Mex and Scottish) to their default setting. You have to do these one at a time.
@j.e.wgreve153529 күн бұрын
@joekarwoski Thanks! I saw that option as well. I think, in my case, I must have accidentally interrupted the loading of the sound set. I was worried that I may have erased all my sounds as I couldn't even get the default sets to work. Luckily, I redid the upload process again and things fell into place.

@joekarwoskiАй бұрын
Thanks for viewing my video. I would be happy to answer your question. I believe I understand your question - How do you change between styles of accordions? I am going to try to make a step-by-step video tomorrow and upload it. The steps are as follows: 1.) Tap the "set" register (the blue one). 2.) It will be flashing the set that you are in (11, 12, 13, 14, 21, etc). 3.) While it is flashing you will tap the register that you want to change to. For example, if you are in 11(the turn-on set) and want to go to 32 you would tap the "set" register and then tap register 3 twice. I will demonstrate this in the video tomorrow. Again, thank you for watching and thank you for the question. I hope this was your question. If you are asking how to transpose between the key of C to the key of B, please ask and I will answer that also. Joe

Hello and welcome. Very good material on your channel. I have a question. I can't connect my fr 1x to the roland fr 1x editor. I read that something needs to be set in the instrument but I don't know how to do it? Do you mean the vendor function when we want to use the driver from the Roland website? Thank you in advance for your answer and best regards from Poland.
@joekarwoskiАй бұрын
Thank you for viewing my video. I try my best to answer all my viewer's questions and love to hear were they are from - thank you for that! Unlike the Roland FR-8x, the FR-1x can not connect to the sound editing software and then make changes. You must use the java program to create new sound sets and then load them into the FR-1x. The usb computer port on the FR-1x is used for transmitting and receiving midi to and from the accordion. The default setting is gen, which is the driver that windows would normally have. If you need the other driver because you are having a problem with windows not "seeing" the 1x, then you would change the setting to the ven setting. This is done in the menu and then looking for UFd and then using the 1 and 2 registers making the change. I hope this has answered your question, if not please feel free to ask again. Thank you again for watching my video! Joe

@joekarwoski2 ай бұрын
Thank you for viewing my video and the wonderful comment! The backstrap is an interesting story. It turns out that I usually can't get the straps to work that come with accordion shoulder straps - my arms simply don't like to reach back to connect them and I really don't want to try to lift the accordion over my head to get it on. As you know, a backstrap is needed if you do much playing while standing or walking. For me that is not a problem because I almost always play sitting down. I found with my FR-1x the shoulder straps would fall down and really caused a problem when playing. I ended up making "something" from the straps I had around the house. I think you could use Backpack Chest Strap. You will need to check the length you need them to be. I saw them on Amazon for 7 dollars. I wish I could give you a link, but I simply made mine from "spare parts".

Thanks Joe ...have a nice day...and keep playing... musical greetings from Robert..
@joekarwoski2 ай бұрын
Hi Robert - Thanks for viewing my video! It sounds like your accordion is in fixed mode (low, med or high). If you go to the bLC in the parameters list you will be able to change that by using register 1 or 2 (depending on which way you want to go). I like it to be set at 4 for extra light. Once that is done and you turn the power off, it will go back to the way it was when you first powered up the accordion. The good news is that you can save the setting before you turn the accordion off. After you made the change (and before turning it off), press and hold the Select button (you press and hold this while you are still in the parameters list). You will see Urt, select register 2 and the screen will say y.e.s. Press the enter button and it will save the settings. Now when it is turned off and back on, the settings will be what you selected before. I hope this helps. If you need more information, my email address is: [email protected]

If you could also show please (chain function)13.5 how to save
@joekarwoski2 ай бұрын
Thanks for viewing and the comment/question. I am a little confused by the question, so I will give it my best. I looked in my manual at 13.5 and it is the palm bar, I don't think that is what you wanted. It simply allows you to select the register that you want the accordion to go to. By default it will send you to register 8. If you have orchestral on (or organ), it will simple turn those off and give you the accordion only. The other item deals with playlists. If this is the question, the options are Off, Stop or Play. Off means that it is off and you will need to select it manually. Stop means that at the end it will stop playing but move to the next selection (you will need to start that manually). Play means that the next selection will start automatically. You may also use the Repeat option. This will really only work if you set the Chain to Play. I hope one of those is what you needed. -Joe
