The max amp draw on your 30lb is maybe 30 amp and on a 55lb the max amp draw is 50 amps so on a 100amp hr LiFePo battery you would get roughly 3.5 hrs at full speed on your 30lb and 2 hrs on the 55lb. so i think the argument is which is the better trade off. Time on water or Speed

Hey bro, quick question have you had any problems anchoring this kayak with 6-10mph winds? This kayak isn’t stable enough to stand up so I’m wondering if it would flip or not handle heavy waves against it. Thx

Thank you so much for this experiment! It's great to see the comparison firsthand and know that investing in a 55 pound thrust trolling motor pays off in speed. Your video was super informative and helped me make a confident decision for my next fishing trip. Keep up the awesome content!

I've had mine (65lb brushless Haswing protuar) on my kayak for a little over 3 years now, and it's still going strong. I did shorten the shaft on mine and moved the control head of it up just to the right of my seat just to be able to control the speed a little easier, especially since I don't use it to stear because I have the trolling motor where a rudder normally would be and steer the kayak with the foot pegs. I do like it and haven't had a single problem with it. However, next time, I'll probably go with trolling motor thats a bow mount remote control setup.

If you add a pwm , your battery will last longer . I just use a 24 trust motor on my feelfree lure . It is more than enough power for the snake river and Dorshak res . I also have had my motor mounted at the side , the back and in the pod . In the pod works best for me because I use the kayak a lot with no motor and rudder . It is easy to just pull pod with motor out and put another pod in and ready to go without motor . 24 motor can make it up to 4 mph in stillwater . I usually use it at 1 to 3 on my pwm for trolling and 45 ah battery never dies on me . kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6SreaGhlrKGeZosi=m15a3uXZf5Sxh494

I bought the Tamarack Pro 103 from Walmart for $399 3 yrs ago. Made a lot of mods including raising the seat a little & tackle boxes now fit under it. It isn't the most stable kayak due to it being 31 Inches wide but it has been a workhorse and I've caught hundreds of fish in it. Still think it's 1 of the best entry level fishing kayaks out there. Purchasing a better paddle is definitely a must.

Why do we all need to know the time it takes to get from your point A to your point B ? It is irrelevant. Just give us the speed and let us work it out.

I’m going to pick up the 103 I just bought online. Which it’s the 91033 and I noticed a 91058, do you know the difference because they look exactly the same to me. Also is the storage compartment water tight?

I put rubber gasket washers down between the boat & accessory when installing stuff to help seal it. Also prevents screws from tearing up the plastic or coming out from vibrations.

Outstanding. “The data never lies”. Couldn’t agree more (although data analysis becomes more complex in large populations with political interference). 4.5 55lb 2.9 30lb I have a 44lb on the way, so I can expect 3.7 mph, and about 4.5 with the peddle drive, which would be close to the hull speed of the vessel. Congratulations on a highly competent demonstration👍🥇

@@BackcountryTreks I tend to measure long distance averages, but can reach hull speed many times momentarily especially with following swell. Last trip did 15 miles in 5 hours with 24lb motor in light swell about 5 ft.

You can easily raise the seat to get under it. You simply unclip front clips and lean back grab your box. The area is really for a safety kit... You only need it if you have an emergency .. I have the exact Tamarack Pro 103 I use it alot I live on a river.

I just bought one yesterday at Farm and Fleet. Now, its called the Tamarack Pro 103. It weighs in at 57.5 pounds. Comes with a paddle and a track mounted rod holder. My previous experience with Lifetime products was a Yukon Angler kayak. It was awesome, but a little bit too heavy for me. I'd say the Tamarack is about the same as the yukon, just a couple feet shorter and lighter. The issuevwith the seat height being too low to allow access to the under seat storage, can solved by purchasing 3" seat risers that are available online from variety of suppliers. Ill also, that the seat is so comfortable. In my Yukon, which has the same seat, after 6-8 hours of use, i didnt have any discomfort at all. It also can be used as a low to the ground camp chair. One of the things i never see on any fishing kayaks, kayaks or canoes, is the use of a safety flag. A lot of the waters that i boat on allow motor boats. I just feel safer having one.

My 30# on pelican pwr 100 goes 3.5mph with apc prop and tuned. Bought a NV 55 that came the other day and with the stock 3 blade prop just tuned (clocked) it gets mine up to 4.3 huge difference. The pwr 100 is a slow yak btw due to design
