Both. For our logo on the spine. That was cold pressed. The rest are heat

@@TheFridayForge thanks for the reply. I figured as much but I didn't see you heating them in the video so I thought I would ask. I have that same design that you used for the spine hubs and I tried it both ways. Definitely needs to be heated for color foil stamping to stick. Love your videos and work. I'm in a bible rebinding group with you guys on FB.

Is there anything you need to do to set the gold leaf in place(I mean making sure it stays adhered, obviously the adhesive does its job lol), or is it long lasting enough with the just the adhesive?

Tbh this was kind of an experiment. I’m not sure this kind of adhesive would hold up over time, especially if it was on a book that is regularly used. And once I did this one I didn’t really pursue this method any further. But if you put some kind of leather sealer over it, it might have a better chance of staying adhered.

What material is the liner? I have been using leather for both clver and liner But you seem to have used a stiffer type of paper rather than leather for the liner

So the liner is leather as well. It’s a bit thicker than I think is typical. It was just some that I already had. We’ve done a few bibles since this one and we’ve been using .5 mm thick leather for it. It’s been working great so far 😊

I’m not too sure what you mean by non magnetic? Are you referring to rfid blocking? If so then no this would not block it.

@@TheFridayForge no I meant when I’m carrying it will it randomly stick to other object, I had one money clip in the past where the outside was non magnetic so it would catch on to stuff

I'm not a big fan of rebinding, but you've done it masterfully. I would suggest you holding your skiving knife at an angle to the edge of leather, not parallel.

I used to be a hardcore gun nut enthusiast! lol then I got saved and had a real encounter with the Most Highs Holy Spirit and was introduced to Yeshua for real! 🤩🕊️🙌🏼 now I’m a hardcore Christian who’s new “straps” consist of new bibles, I find it very appealing when I see brand new customized bibles! 🤣👏🏼 that’s one of the sexiest bibles I’ve ever seen!😍 that red texture just sets it off! And that style of leather is🤌🏼 there’snothing like having a brand new “strap” to add to the collection!😏

It’s so difficult! I had Holy straight then Bible got all wonky on me. We’re going to be upgrading soon. Rocky Mountain leather sells one that has a laser light attachment that you can line everything up.

Oh it’s been so long since I’ve done it and we’ve upgraded lasers since then, but I always had to run that laser at about 90% power and speed about 50% and lines per inch was usually .75 if not .50

So much great stuff in this video. The gold leaf gilding , mine still very inconsistent glowforge work, weighing the need/advantages, would love to see more. the book press , did you make that yourself? I’m trying to design/make one similar. Great video. Loved this.

We did make the press and we do sell them 😉 as far as the Glowforge….. we’ve upgraded to a thunder laser as well, and it’s superior in every way, but the price tag is out of control but for us, it was worth it. That being said we’ve used a cheap $200 Sculpfun S6, for simple engraving it’s ok, but if you need a laser I would try to spend as much as your budget would allow, you generally get what you pay for in lasers.
