@@MasinskiKutak Yes, that's the one. It has no cross pin and appears to be press fit. I'm going to try and remove the shaft to the right side instead of the left side.

@@MasinskiKutak I was able to take the shaft out to the right side of the machine. It makes changing the timing belt extra work and you have to be careful not to damage the plastic zigzag gear if the metal gear on the shaft is varnished on). The hub appears to be press fit, even after getting the shaft out and inspecting it. It's not the only part that appear press fit. The tension housing, stitch regulator housing, and zigzag control housing were also press fit, although the stitch regulator housing and zigzag housing also had set screws. Other than that, the only other press fit parts were bushings, which is expected. Overall, I'm not impressed with this newer version 262. They added some nice features, but the implementation is poor and complicates the design, and they added more plastic parts, including the handwheel and clutch knob. I prefer the design and build of the 230.

@@MasinskiKutak Thanks for the reply. I removed the embroidery unit so I could better see the zigzag fork. It appears to me that the pivot for the fork is on an eccentric that allows it to be moved up/down relative to the zigzag shaft. This does little when in straight stitch, however it shifts the needle left/right when in zigzag stich when the fork pivot is not concentric to the zigzag shaft. I couldn't see any limit adjustments for the dial, but when I removed the embroidery unit it was turning fully from 0 to 4. I don't know what was limiting the dial rotation before, but it's working now.

That's a good question, to the best of my memory I think the upper main shaft has to be removed because the small shaft that holds the plastic metal gear can only be removed inwards, I left it on the machine and it's clearly visible 9:55 I know that it is a very complex job and if your gear is broken, it is most likely the definitive end for your old sewing machine, rarely do any of the technicians know and want to work, it is too complicated, many do not know, and the parts that must be removed are stuck and difficult to remove.
