My favourite NW album is Imaginaerum, but Yesterwynde is getting close. Great album, great production, great songs
@AOD_AnkGrooger7 сағат бұрын
I dislike the album. I've listened to them for the last 12 years, I've loved album's 1-9, they've fit the theme and style of Nightwish every time. Yesterwynde, or Album 10, does not correlate at all to the history or Nightwish. It doesn't feel like Nightwish. I think the problem is that Tuomas wrote the album without taking into consideration the power of Floor's voice, which is odd as previous albums have always been written to complement Floor's voice. Another issue is the fact that I can't headbang to these songs. They don't have the same beat, the same symphony, the same riff as all the previous musics. I'd have to place Yesterwynde as their worst album there is. You can tell because of the views the album has (significantly less than the rest) downloads on spotify over 72 hours is signfiicantly less than the others they uploaded to spotify on launch (not including songs uploaded 5-10 years after they released). But if we look at Human Nature, A brilliant Album, most songs have several million downloads. Meanwhile Yesterwynde has almost no song hitting 1 million in 72 hours. "Once", "Imaginerium" and "Dark Passion Play" would have to be my fav 3 albums released by this band. All the songs fit what we expect a Nightwish song to sound like. Listening to Yesterwynde sounds as if I've found a knockoff version of nightwish, and it's seriously a shame.

I got to agree, this Album is a huge letdown and feels less metal than ever.

This is the third album in the Dawkins inspired trilogy and in a number of songs DNA is mentioned in Tuomas' poetic way, like in the first one "Yesterwynde": [Intro: Choir] (Out of the darkness And into the bright light We carry the ties That we bind to you) And the beautiful mood is reminding me of the prelude from classical opera's like Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.... kzbin.infoUgkx0unbucGPGCwwTdVj76TVc6kBZiYzyUUR DNA is also mentioned in the title "Perfume of the Timeless" and in that song as well: (Something from the earth came Something for the world Mosaic of broken fragile pieces Tesserae of the deceased Born to a novel world) And when you listen to/read all the lyrics you will find new meanings every time BTW did you know all the songs are also released in an orchestral version as well? This album is not symphonic metal anymore, it is metal symphonic and Tuomas still deserves his nickname: metal Mozart (although Mozart did not write lyrics, he hired librettists for his opera's).

Nightwish and Ayreon....do you need more than that? Well, on the instrumental side Snarky puppy. And let's add Porcupine tree to that equation . With those four all your musical desires are fulfilled. In my own not so humble opinion. We live in beautiful times music wise.

If you like Porcupine Tree have you tried The Pineapple Thief? They share Gavin Harrison as their drummer (he was also in King Crimson too)

"Beware the wrath of an artist, for their brush will paint you as you are." - What Kujo did, and to whom, is the epitome of irony, almost Darwin Award level. As you journey into Ren's work, you'll notice he has a lot to say about greed. He's one of the most outspoken artists about greed and its devastating effects on society. When Ren says, "Nah, I like to spank the greedy," he isn't being hyperbolic. Kujo knew Ren's work, so the level of cognitive dissidence is staggering, almost like taking Liam Neeson's kid or shooting John Wick's dog. Enjoy the Ren journey. He's uniquely Ren - clever, authentic, an artist's artist. For people like you, who appreciate and understand the music and the art, Ren will be a rewarding experience. You'll continually be impressed in different ways. Thanks for sharing your reactions; I also just saw your, 'Hi Ren,' video. It was fun seeing how you experienced it, the best reactions are people giving it 100% of their attention and taking it in.

From what they tell in interviews about the whole process, which was almost the opposite of ERROR (new producer, writing collabs, convoluted schedules, impending label deadlines, etc) one would think this album was doomed to sound like a disjointed, soulless mess. And I guess with any other band working under the same pressures, that would be the case. But this isn't just any other band. IMO, despite its variety and the many influences, KMF sounds surpringsily cohesive and balanced. For me, it's nothing short of a miracle when you can hear on the same record a nu metal song (Sharks) followed by an 80s arena rock anthem (HYCAD) as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Somehow each track on the album meshes well together. It works. They made it work. And that's how you know; even if it sounds different from their previous material, it's still a DPA record through and through.

While I love "Keep Me Fed" and think it's better overall than "Error", my favorite song doesn't come from either of those albums or from "Queen Of The Murder Scene. My favorite song by them is "Show Me The Light" off of "XXI Century Blood" and probably always will be. We'll see.

For me, the album has not held up...each song, with a couple exceptions, are strong but when taken in series there is a level of "sameness" to the tempo and arrangements that take away from the experience...every song adheres to the same ABABCB structure, and most of them rely on the bass/drum verse into the heavy pre-chorus formula that loses it's impact the more you use it... They should have, IMO, left "More" as a free-standing single..."Burnout" just kind of exists...and "Que Mas Quieres" is a distant third in their Spanish playlist..."Hell You Call a Dream" and "Automatic Sun" should be considered some of their strongest work to date... I do give mad respect to Anton DeLost for his MASTERTFUL low end management in the mix...the bass and drums hit HARD with a lot of clarity and definition that many other times end up muddy and dense...I get the critiques that it is somewhat over-saturated but this mixing style sounds good on smaller speakers and since the vast majority of the market listen on earbuds and computer speakers it is appropriate... BUT, considering the circumstances under which it was created I think it's a very good achievement for the band...

Respectfully disagree. In my opinion this is their worst album. Not a fan of a single song on it, and the production is far too “modern rock radio”. The vocal effects put on Dany’s voice are criminal. It is what the ladies wanted though.

What makes this even more impressive is that it is actually a live performance. If you look closely, you can see the mic on the collar of the hospital gown and you can see him actually hitting the strings on the guitar. I believe it took 4 takes to get it the way he wanted it. Plus, they didn't have permission to use the space he is in but the owner gave them, I believe, either 45 minutes or an hour and they had to leave.

I really thought we were going to have an intelligent comment section, but here comes all the cringey 'Renegades', 'Renaissance' cobblers.
@yunwuxin334819 күн бұрын
and yet despite your dismay at the lack of relevant dialogue, instead of kicking that commentary off, you've chosen instead to offhandedly insult everyone else here. I don't have anything to say about the song myself, it was really nice, very emotionally tense throughout, but I don't have much in the way of connection to that level of creative struggle, so I feel a lot of what i'm empathising with is lost due to lack of true understanding. Hope Ren is in a good place, and if not, that he's heading there as fast as he can.

Thanks for this. Listening in stunned silence a normal, genuine reaction to Hi Ren, it was certainly mine. Whilst I love the reactors who break down the lyrics, music, videography etc, there is also something satisfying in just watching someone watch Ren do his stuff for the first time. It brings back the feelings we got when we first saw the videos. If you love story telling, then I agree that Jenny and Screech is the way to go.
@saragates225520 күн бұрын
I'm sure the other Renegades have already told you but if you enjoyed this you should dive headfirst into The Tales next! They must be played in order to not spoil the story: Jenny, Screech, Violet. Preferably back to back. Don't worry about how long it is... Renegades will watch regardless of length 🫶 I really enjoyed your reaction! Couldn't help but notice you were still bopping your head to the beat long after it had ended! Ren's storytelling is incredible and captivating and you'll really get to capitalize on that in The Tales! Subbed for more Ren! ✌️
