The thing that most rubbed me the wrong way is the idea of just having 8-12 famous vocalists be your test subjects for your big earth shattering research study instead of trying to find like 100 metal vocalists to study.

I've got a suggestion for your next reaction video. SIMPLY THE BEST by TOMMY JOHANSSON of Sweden. He does a great metal version. Both Bonnie Tyler and Tina Turner did this song, and yet Tommy does it better.

To be clear, many others have done many studies on the effects of singing and music on diseases. Elizabeth is not breaking any new ground on that front. Nor is she making any promises of results. She is quite simply a vocal music nerd, lovably so, and knows that those pre-existing studies only include normal singing, the 'true' vocal folds. She is fascinated with false fold sounds, vocal fry, metal roaring, etc., and is merely proposing studying those sounds also, to better understand these structures of the upper larynx and the sounds they make, in hopes of contributing to the larger body of science about singing and disease. Simple scientific data-gathering and vocal studies, sticking cameras down throats, measuring electrostatic responses in muscles, analyzing the sounds with special vocal software, etc. It's unfortunate that some have honed in on her mention of cancer and disease, but those are simply her long-term aspirations as a vocal music nerd for this general area of scientific inquiry, not some kind of snake-oil promise of singing metal and curing your cancer. I think this video is extremely unfair to what she said, and what many of her fans who have watched her videos for years, who know and love her, believe she meant.

To the title question, is Elizabeth a scammer? No, most emphatically not. I think your outrage at her campaign lies in misunderstanding its goals. It's all about the most low-level data-gathering of false-fold phonation. The tie-ins to cancer or other diseases and music lie in the fact that normal vocal-fold singing has been looked at exclusively in those studies. Elizabeth is fascinated by false vocal fold sounds, what you might think of as 'throat singing' or 'vocal fry' (really, the entire anatomy of making vocalizations), and since others have studied singing's effects on various diseases, she hopes to add to that body of knowledge, her altruism about music carrying the hope that this type of phonation can also yield those kinds of benefits. This Kickstarter campaign simply funds that false fold phonation research, and any mentions of disease research are simply her long-term aspirational goals for the knowledge she hopes to gather. It is for these basic vocal research reasons that she does not in fact promise a cure for cancer, and why she studies the voices of healthy individuals. She's not making the leap that you seem to think she is, that someone with cancer can sing a song and have their next cancer scan come up clean. This is the lowest of low-level research, like cataloguing a hundred thousand Amazonian frogs or something as a grindingly scientific approach to the next big drug trial. There is no end-to-end promise being made here. This is phonetic research into the upper laryngeal structures only, with the hope of someday contributing to the base of knowledge about singing and disease, because this type of 'throat singing' if you will has not been included to date in those types of studies. Perhaps before launching into a fellow (and much more widely-known) KZbinr like this, a better approach would be to simply ask her for an interview, with an open mind, and fair warning of the skepticism. There's no one nicer, and I'm sure she could allay any concerns. Because Elizabeth really is 'good people'.

I like Elizabeth's analyses and she certainly knows about vocal techniques. Recently her thumbnails in my feed have looked like sone sort of solicitation and, in fact, I have not watched any of those. I hadn't followed any of the stuff she is now doing but its interesting you decided to. I have watched many more of her videos than yours, but essesntially I will only watch future videos from TCV if they ate artists I love. The habit of saying "First Time Hearing" is really irritating. Many reactors do dtuff from the 70s that I just dont believe they have never heard On the other hand, if you did a 10 minute reaction to The Poet and the Pendulum, I wouldn't even start watching it. It couldn't do justice. Wouldn't even be enough to play the song.

I'm very sorry for your health issues, and I also have been diagnosed with 2 forms of cancer, plus one potentially pre-cancerous condition. I do not believe Elizabeth is saying to sing, even with vocal fry, and cure one's cancer. She's talking about scientific studies connecting music and disease, and contributing to that body of knowledge by studying so-called 'false fold' singing techniques. But it's at the data-gathering stage of science only, and nowhere near an end-to-end promise of anything. It's simply meant to understand the upper larynx in singing better, with long-term aspirations that the knowledge might be able to advance the singing/disease studies that have been done. I don't see what she has said as the sort of direct-result promise that's being assumed in this video.

I have seen some people on Reddit say these comments about cancer were "jokes" or not meant to be serious but they definitely are as you can see she has centered the entire Kickstarter campaign around doing research regarding illnesses and cancer and whether singing can cure or prevent these illnesses. The "research" she's doing cannot logically come to a real scientific conclusion because she is testing HEALTHY individuals. If you look into other studies done regarding this topic, because this is not new at all, they do their tests on people with said illnesses to see if it helps. The only thing any studies have found is that music therapy MAY help morale and stress levels in sick individuals. But these are diseases and illnesses we are talking about that take a physical toll on people's health and not just mental health. This whole thing is set up to seem like it is doing "research" for these illnesses when in reality it is just a project she is trying to work on. If she wasn't trying to frame it as curing illnesses to get more donations than this wouldn't be considered a full "scam" but it truly is by definition a scam as she is lying regarding the research. I'm just trying to raise awareness because I feel strongly about this since I directly am living with someone who affected by these illnesses and she's exploiting that for donations for a project. Anyway, you can make your own conclusions. Here's my source regarding her kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/tcvresearch/harsh-vocal-research-with-the-charismatic-voice Here's a CNN article from 2016 proving this is not new research and also proving that this has only ever been shown to improve mental health for the patients and as you can see per the article they tested actual sick people and not healthy individuals: www.cnn.com/2016/04/08/health/singing-cancer-study-irpt/index.html Here's another study regarding this as well where the conclusion they came to is that it helps mental health but no mention of physically curing cancer or illnesses: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6326295/ You have free will to do what you want but this really rubbed me the wrong way. Kanami wrote the song in a stile that would be different from what any of the bands normally do. Miku then wrote the lyrics after the bands had agreed on a what is should be about. The first lyrics was then sent back and forth between all of them until everyone was happy with it and was sure it would mean the same thing in 3 different languages. Miku said it was changed so much, that it was not possible to recognize it once everyone had their say.

So TW and B-M met at a US festival in 2022 and said they should collaborate. They got that opportunity this year. They went to Japan and played three shows, one with Band-Maid. TW traveled to Japan two weeks early to write/compose/record with B-M and record a MV. They then played it together at their one concert together. In an interview on the PRS channel, Kanami and Dany said that more collaborations are in the future. Kanami wants B-M to come to Mexico and and Dany wants the collab to be in Spanish. Dany and Kanami play similar PRS guitars in the same color.

Exactamente! They play to a click track live, and Vlad is super precise. His style is extremely ergonomical, real economy of motion. It looks very repeatable, in contrast to many drummers. I've spent a lot of time watching Neil Peart, for example. Neil hit every drum like the impact point was three inches below the drumhead. Of course he played dynamically, but at full throttle he was slamming. Watch him play, and with every snare hit his neck would snap to the side. It's a wonder he could pull that off for all those years, and it finally got to be too much for even him. Vlad's style seems much more relaxed somehow. The impacts less severe on the joints. More like a jazz player. It's more about leverage, drum tuning, and using them microphones!

@@ericpeterson7512 funny you mentioned the economy of motion - you couldn't be more right. I've also thought the exact same thing about Roman's playing. His play though of "Pit of Consciousness" absolutely melts my brain, just how smooth and effortlessly he seems to play it.
