@codemansauto208Күн бұрын
Thats a tough one without actually seeing the issues I would be guessing. But if you hear noise you might have a planetary gear that has locked inside the Transmission and also I think that I would make sure that the rear brakes are not froze up and the rear diff is not locked up. I hope this helps

So, to drain, engine is on, to fill, engine is off, to check levels , engine is on correct??
@codemansauto2084 күн бұрын
When you DRAIN your Transmission fluid the ENGINE needs to be turned OFF . ( DRAIN FLUID /ENGINE OFF) then reinstall the drain plug at this point you will add 3 quarts of Transmission fluid with the ENGINE OFF. and then you will START your ENGINE When you are CHECKING your Transmission fluid the ENGINE IS ON / RUNNING ( CHECK FLUID / ENGINE RUNNING ) I hope this was helpful.

@codemansauto2085 күн бұрын
I agree 100 the aluminum is the best way to go. I usually only get to replace these during a Transmission rebuild and I never charge extra for the shifter fix and my customers are always happy when they pull it into gear and the indicator works right.

I have a 2014. My original lines were leaking at the crimp fitting. I put a new set of lines on the truck with an updated thermostat housing. The one with the 170 stamped on the bottom. I've noticed the truck does run a little cooler, but not a lot. It used to run about 194 but now will run 176 to 185. It has hit 190 when I was towing my 5x8 trailer loaded with some scrap steel. Usually I just drive about 30-40 mins, then I'm at my destination and shut the truck off. One thing about it, once the temps climb, they never come down while driving. Do you have any experience with the updated housings with the 170 stamped in the bottom? Do you think I would still benefit from this upgrade. Thanks Russ
@codemansauto2085 күн бұрын
I think the 170 degrees should do just fine. But just to let you know the Transmission would have to reach a Temp around 240 degrees before the Transmission starts to fail. The problems that we have with the GM system from the factory is that the torque converter lockup is to early and then you add the sustained 195 temp and on top of that the fluid was not designed to handle all this. If you notice that now it is recommended that you should use MOBIL 1 FULL SYNTHETIC LV HP Blue label in all 6l80 and 6l90's even the biggest Reman companies, put a recommended Mobil 1 warning on their transmissions. I hope this was helpful.
@DoubleRRestorations5 күн бұрын
@codemansauto208 It does, thank you. I guess I was just disappointed when I saw the temps continue to rise under a load and not fall any later. I think I'd feel better if it worked like the one in the video or would not go higher than 170ish. I'm kinda wondering if my cooler is operating as normal

When a Transmission stops pulling without any noise I always check for a broken pump first. Checking your pump varies by manufacturer but one way for sure is to find your pressure tap plug location and check it there with a gauge. There are other DIY ways to check the pressure without a gauge, but you would need to maybe look up ( how to check my transmission fluid pressure ) on your vehicle. I hope this helps

I made another video on this product, and it is linked at the end of this video. But in that video i try and bring it to every one's attention that there is no recommended dosage on the label. So, if you just dump a whole bottle of this in your Transmission that you could cause yourself more problems because of overdose. It is best to learn all that you can about This product before putting it in your Transmission. And if you are going to use it remember to begin by adding small amounts.

So what happens to the rest of the internal seals and o-rings? If the Lucas soften seals and causes them to swell. I see this causing internal leaks. If a seal leaks, it needs to be replaced. No mechanic in a bottle will fix it.

In my 67 years of life Lucas Tranny Stop Leak and Stop slip does work. Many people I have talked to about these 2 tranny issues all have told me it worked very well for them. I have used Lucas Tranny fix and it has done me right a number of times already. The latest experience is with my 2016 Dodge Ram 4 wheel drive. My rear transfer case seal was leaking. Just in case I ordered a new seal but I did try and added 4 oz. of Lucas Tranny Fix to the transfer case. To my amazement with over 3000 miles since then it has stopped leaking. Please keep in mind my transfer case uses transmission fluid, not gear oil. I believe this does make a difference if my memory serves me correctly. I am an Ole' U.S. Marine and I hate snake oil propaganda B.S. but I must say, Lucas does speak the Truth about their awesome products on the market today!

@codemansauto2089 күн бұрын
I have seen a lot of bushings walk out and from my experience if this has happened maybe a complete pump replacement would be the best option for you and the reason that I would do this is that once the bushing spins in that pump body from that point it is hard to get another bushing to hold and you don't want to have this problem show up again in a few months. Just a suggestion

Great video!! I just changed my transmission fluid in my ‘09 Traverse and used the only brand the store had available which was Valvoline Dexron VI full synthetic, and I also bought the additive Lubeguard Shudder Fixx you recommended. I then drove the vehicle around town and down the highway for about 30 miles total. Big improvement! I had issues of when shifting from park into drive, the car would take just a little longer than normal to shift into drive, and then I would feel a small jolt when it did finally shift (hard shift). Also, it had hard shifting from 1st into 2nd when accelerating from a stop. This fluid change and additive made a noticeable improvement. It is now the second day and my transmission is smoother. I think I can still feel a small shudder when going uphill sometimes but I’m still trying to determine. Thank you for your video and advice! 👍

Quick question. I have a 2008 Ford F150 FX4. Recently, I went to start it & all lights were functioning, but it would turn over at all. It's done it a couple of times before, but fired up in an hour or so, but not this time after several days if trying. I was going to have it towed to my house & try to figure out what was up. The tow truck driver, turn on the ignition, put it in Neutral & it started right up. He said the issue was the Neutral Safety Switch needed replacing. Does that sound right to you?
@codemansauto20813 күн бұрын
Yes that sounds right. You might be able to adjust the PRNDL / Neutral Safety Switch forward a little but most of the time this is how they start acting when they are going bad. Smart tow truck driver
@WomanUnfiltered12 күн бұрын
@codemansauto208 Yes, he was a great help for sure. I knew it wasn't the battery & pretty sure it wasn't the starter, but was afraid it was an electrical issue somewhere.
