Hi, thanks for that. Did you use your Helinox chair much?
@whbuddin5 ай бұрын
Yes - I used it at every camp site, for sure. That said, I did three nights in refugios, so it was wasted at those stops. I'm considering leaving at home on my next trip, though, as it really is a true luxury item.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm doing TMB this June and was looking at reviews online but nothing as concise as this. I have some of the gear you showed like the X-mid 1 (not solid though, unsure if that will give some trouble) and crazy enough I was looking at same backpack, now it's sorted - I'm getting it. Cheers!
@whbuddin8 ай бұрын
Glad it helped - I had this same problem which was why I made this video. June was an ideal time to go because the trail was pretty empty and it was still nice and cool with tons of daylight for hiking. Good luck on your TMB!

The wind was somewhat blocked by the walls and buildings and the trees which kinda affected the test result. It doesn’t mean this tent is not storm worthy - it is. But again, hopefully most people who got this tent are smart enough to check the weather before going on a trip and take advantage of the environment to block the wind as much as possible should they find themselves in a storm and not rely solely on the tent. And this test proves that as long as you can find a relatively sheltered spot to pitch the tent, it can protect you from a hurricane.

You should share a link for the tent pegs.

unfortunately, it looks like they have stopped making/offering these stakes. They do have lots of other cool gear, though. Check them out at backpackingadventuregear.com/shop - this is legit cottage gear.

You are a brave man. Do you intend to camp in hurricanes often?

Brave is one way to describe it :-) and no, I am generally only doing this kind of thing to test out my gear in the event I find myself in super adverse conditions.

Sorry you got damage..I saw a guy make some homemade cups from some plastic mesh for the trekking poles to sit inside as well as protect the tent material, his video was on KZbin interesting idea! Great vid 👍

Hey, I am on the NC/SC border West of Charlotte, and I am very interested in those stakes. Would love to support a local company. What was the name of the company?
@whbuddin Жыл бұрын
Company name is Etowah, and their gear store is at www.shop.backpackingadventuregear.com/main.sc. I am not sure they are making the stakes anymore, though (which is unfortunate, since I just bent one of mine; unknowingly staked out right into a root).

That's crazy! I don't know that I would have wanted to potentially sacrifice my X-Mid to a hurricane test 😂 but good to know a good pitch will withstand such a storm.

Yeah, admittedly it was a little impulsive on my part 🫠 That said, I like to test gear in as extreme a set of circumstances as possible - this fit the bill

hello, is the xmid2 solid worth buying? I'm looking for a model like her, that I can use in summer and winter. is it too hot for summer because of the thicker mesh?
@joanortega372 жыл бұрын
I picked solid. Rather be too hot than too cold
@whbuddin2 жыл бұрын
There is plenty of mesh on the doors, and ventilation is excellent, especially if the weather allows for rolling the fly doors back. That said, full mesh would no doubt provide more ventilation, and I have been tempted by the standard version + stargazer kit.

What is the difference between the regular and solid version? Is it just a thicker mesh?

this happens alot, says "hurricane" in the weather report but people dont realise how sheltered they are. Most people belive a 30mph gust is 70mph aswell until they have something to actually measure the wind.

.. Why do you create TWO Within-Subject-Factors, although you just have one (Timepoint: pretest/posttest). Is this correct? Or why don't you just create just ONE Within-Subject-Factor and put the subtests or DVs in the field "Measure Names"?

Interesting video - thanks for sharing. Two questions, if I may, please, coming from a non-specialist, non-statistics expert. If one has only ONE group.... that is ALL participants go though the SAME intervention and if the dependent variables are organised in some particular way, let's saiy in PAIRS that deal with a SAME items,... for instance, where you have an input of FOUR levels for each of the different tests, suppose that EACH test has TWO parts (ex P1 and P2) that cannot simply be "added together", would one create an input of HEIGHT levels or is there some other way to deal with 4 levels at 2 "sublevels" each. The particular case involves only ONE repeat measure (a PRE and a POST evaluation using the SAME test after ONE intervention). IF the TEST is a questionnaire with a LIKERT scale evaluation, can one attempt any of the above? Thanks again!

Hi, I am writting my dissertation and I did this exact model, the last table doesn't come up though. Another question, how do you know whether you have significant results (can you be more specific?) As in: that number needs to be higher than 'x' for it to be significant , etc... thank you!! !Very helpful video! :)
