My name is Robert. My dad got me my first Stingray around ‘68. It was a Forest Green one. That was shortly stolen, and I was fortunate to get another one. It was an all Chrome one. Haven’t been able to find pictures online of it. I do believe that was a special model. Please, can someone help me to confirm that was an original Schwinn color option? Unfortunately, that was eventually stolen also. Then, I graduated to a green Schwinn Continental 10 speed.

I had a 5 speed Sting Ray Fast Back. I loved it. There will never be another bike like the Sting-Ray.

I wonder if I am related to this branch of Giannotti. I don’t know much about my grandfather Eugenio Giannotti. I recall he was the youngest of like 11 kids and many of his brothers left Italy and moved to Chicago. I grew up in Tivoli for about 8 years and my dad moved us to Venezuela for work. I wish he had kept his roots firmer in Italy after his retirement in the 90s. Venezuela just went south once people voted Socialism in. Socialism is just the first step to Communism. I pray that the US doesn’t turn into a Venezuela.

What an awkward way to end the show unless that's his thing. Came off as abrupt and rude.

I had a green 5-speed StingRay, with the skinny tires, stick shift of course. I went fishing with my buddy in Long Island, NY. We parked our bikes and hiked to the fishing hole. When we returned my StingRay was stolen. I was heartbroken, for a long long time. I remember afterwards riding in the car with my parents, and I would be looking for my stolen StingRay. My father didn't buy me another one, it was $69.95. Instead he got me a cheap $29.95 tingRay knockoff. Huffy or something.

I had a Schwinn 10 speed I loved!! Got it new for my birthday. Was stolen out of our garage. Dogs were barking like crazy and dad was telling them to shut up. Lol They replaced it with a used red Schwinn 10 speed we refurbished. It was nice but I loved the blue one. Both had a nice metal flake paint that was amazing.

@@BBBILLY86 Thanks for sharing your story! I’m almost 70 years old and I still feel pain over my stolen StingRay. It’s a faint pang now but still endures. God blesd

My brother and I had the same bike stolen from our garage. It was locked and the bikes were chained together like my dad insisted. Luckily he made an insurance claim and got us each another one because we locked them up like he said. He still wasn’t happy about it! Yes, I remember that 69.95 price tag.

Ugh. What a waste of my time. No story behind their 2 hits, how & why people kept leaving the group, if Mercury promoted them properly, that they lost the deal & had to go back to small labels again, the death of his songwriting partner Les Kummel in '78, etc.

Seeing guys like Ronnie still around make you wonder how musicians of today will fare when they're old. Will they have been so overexposed the public doesn't care or will want to see them even more? Most of us never saw the groups in concert or even tv, like Sullivan or American Bandstand. Today we like to see bands and singers from our youth, that bond of memories, many of them take advantage and still tour even though they're in their 70s or 80s. But we didn't have constant exposure to them like today. We still think it cool to see old bands from 'our day'. And pay for it. Some bands don't even have original members. Some are on their 3rd or 4th incarnation.

I have a collection of '60s and '70s Sting Rays and Krates, and '70s Schwinn 10 speeds. I'm 65 years old, and I got into them purely out of nostalgia, because they are what I had as a kid. I also have quite a few parts.

My dad owned a psychedelic teen club called the ‘Illusion’ in a small town (Neenah Wisconsin) back in the sixties and the New Colony Six were a frequent headliner. Ronnie and his band mates would pack the house. Great days of phenomenal music. I wonder if Ronnie remembers that place?
