“Ichiro my ass”?? Ichiro was better than Rose. Better hitter, WAY better fielder. Ichiro had 10 straight 200 hit seasons. That wasn’t in Japan, Petey boy!!

Ichiro was better than Rose, and Rose knew it. Rose was complimentary to Ichiro until Ichiro passed him, then he was salty. Big baby. Get over it: Ichiro was great, and if he had played his entire career in MLB, he'd be considered even greater.

The worst record a team with Pete Rose on their roster ever had was 76-84 (yes, only 160 games due to rainouts). This guy's play brought every team he played for up a notch. Or maybe two notches.

I was very lucky that in an unplanned trip to Las Vegas, Pete was signing autographs on his jersey. I bought a jersey and after he signed it i got a photo with him. That jersey has never come out of that box. I wanted it to stay new looking. Have it still.

Nolan Ryan, my slider never competed with your set of tools, but I disagree. The Hall Of Fame is for "fame", not gambling and infamous conduct. Johnny Bench had it right. That doesn't mean I don't think Pete didn't produce sufficient athletic ability. We need to be concerned about examples for our children, and the disqualifying Pete Rose from fame when he acted unworthily is a good lesson for everyone. Let's not be criminal or passively wicked, let's call it for what it is. An umpire has to call the balls and strikes and we people have to be able to call what is moral and what is not. Today, we live in a fallen government and gambling has been legalized almost everywhere -- what a disgrace! There is nothing productive about gambling, it takes from others when we should be learning how to give to others. As to baseball gambling, casino gambling, state lotteries, pool player gambling and all other types including those on the Internet, it would be appropriate for a nation to ban such evil vices. Gambling is related to covetousness, and the Bible says, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.” (Ex. 20:17, KJV) A gambler tends to be attracted in a more than generous way to the money of his contemporary environment. If it leads to disobeying God, it is evil. We are living in the apostasy and must remember the Ten Commandments and develop a decent community for our youth to grow up in. You can't live in sin and not confess it without losing respect. Johnny Bench made a moral point that Pete Rose did not deserve honor. You can miss a fast ball and get away with it sometimes, but you can't miss out on Jesus Christ and receive what God wants for you. Pete Rose thinks people should get over it. Should we? Well, we can certainly forgive Pete and pray for him. It will be up to him to make a decision for Jesus Christ if he really wants to find out what's missing in his life.
