Sadly no longer as we know it. Wonderful venue then. All our family and friends had great times there. Brings a lump to my throat. Just caravan after caravan and no entertainment as we knew it.

If it's hot where a tourist destination is a cool mist of water is great for people who may be elderly, kids or just having to wait in the heat. It's small minded to think there is some sorta dark intention behind this.

Putting all the burns stuff inside Dumfries is not a very nice place in general, not now anyway. Dumfries used to be a buzzing wee town but has sadly been neglected over the past 15-20 years.

I went to hilltop farm a few years back and also had a drink at the pub just down the road from where Hilltop farm which is featured in one of her books. I have also been to the office where her husband worked as a lawyer in Hawkshead which is now an art gallery of all of Beatrice potters art work and i also went to the world of Beatrice Potter. when you can see her characters come to life and they have a magnificent gift shop with anything you want in relation to Beatrice potters work. I have totally lost count of how much stuff I have in relation to Beatrice Potter as I feel I’m going to have to get another room added onto my house just to house all of my wonderful items. I must say that Hilltop farm was the icing on the cake just to be in the garden and the house of where all of these great books and her imagination came from. her love for the Lake District was lovely and the fact that she brought most of the land and donated it to the National Trust so that it could not be built on was lovely because she preserved so much of the Lake District. I am so pleased you loved your Beatrice Potter experience.

I lived in Dumfries 1960-1966 I'm surprised you featured Burns so much and the town so little. Dumfries used to be a thriving market and tourist town (with light industry on the outskirts) but the last time I visited many of the shops were either closed or turned into charity shops. The sandstone buildings are attractive but the town was only a shadow of what it used to be.

I climbed this with my mother about 50 years ago. I still remember mum pointing out a small, abandoned bag lying on the top floor. As we descended a security chap walked past us and asked about whether we had seen a bag. Yes we had, mum replied .. then he explained that a woman had jumped off the top. Being a kid I wanted to look out through the next window, but my mum stopped me.

It's a bit disappointing! Why not show Nora Batty's house? We only see the stairs, the famous blue door from afar, and a tearoom, NEXT to Nora Batty's house (btw NORA is written with only ONE "R") The basement, where Compo and later Alvin lived is never shown, nor Aunty Wainwright's shop or the shed of Wesley. The library was also an important place in the series, but is also not shown! All and all only just a few of the important places are shown!
