I’m beyond grateful and proud to say I know the band. Randy is exactly how he appears on stage and camera, big heart, friendly, funny and insanely talented!

I saw them in 1983 at soldier Field. They were fantastic. Jackson’s voice is so unique so cool. They should’ve been much bigger. The talent was amazing.

I think this might actually be a "monitor mix" (the band plays the song live in the studio, then uses the rough take to play the final parts to). The clue is typically no bgv's and no guitar solo. The Cars had backing vocals and solos on all their demos.
@appletondaviddavid11 күн бұрын
@@gracegeek4678 Yes it is. The reel it came on is labeled "Demo/Monitor Mix."

Well to me the sun was clearly under development which is what demos are. I very much like the much more decisive vocal melody of the finished product.

Saw The Cars in 1982...The only band that sound just as tight live, or in studio. Absolutely amazing. Ben Orr was a complete rock star and Elliot Easton guitar work was impeccable!

Great band, led by the (now deceased) core element of Ben Orr and Ric Ocasek, two Polish-American musicians who wrote almost all their music and lyrics, and were also the two lead singers, with remarkably similar voices.

In the 7th grade in the Philly area we had a substitute teacher who was from Boston. She played us the first Cars album when it came out on a record player from the AV department. Told us this would be the best band of the next 10 years. Boy was she right. Fell in love with the Cars that day and they're still my favorite 47 years later.
