I love the little detail of the blood on Bilbo's head after he got hit in the face.

This scene is important. It shows how this whole adventure changed bilbo and middle earth forever. The way gandalf sits besides bilbo, being like :" yep, that's what you've been missing on buddy." , along with the hopeful soundtrack, is splendid scenery to me.

Well the good news the dwarves invited Bilbo to go in adventure with them. But they had an unexpected party at Bilbo's house at the shire that night. Thank you that the dwarves visited the shire. They cared for Bilbo Baggins friendship. The best scene when Bilbo had to say goodbye to the dwarves after Thorin and Fili and Kili's funeral. Gandalf took Bilbo back home where he belongs to the Shire.

I love how when Gandalf said that if he returns, he would never be the same. He was mostly right. The only thing that never changed is his hate for Lobelia Sackville-Baggins

This is exactly why I hate almost all the dwarfs , they are so stubborn, so many laketown people died because of their stupid heiritage dream , also bard literally saved everyone from the dragon so how can thorin disrespect him when they literally owe him their lives

Thorin's death absolutely broke me. I recently finished rewatching the 3 movies after not having watched them in a while, and when he died, I cried. I cried through the rest of the movie. I cried even after the movie. I'm still quite emotional right now as of writing this comment.

In the books, Laketown supplied the wine to the wood elves and the barrel ride was a regular transit trade point. The men and elves were definitely economic trading partners.

Why is it the most emotional deaths in this franchise came from men who had a desire for something gold and died protecting something their care about? Did Tolkien have a fetish for overcoming greed through heroic final acts

Gandalf’s last statement to Bilbo I think said without saying that he was calling BS on Bilbo losing the ring in battle. Gandalf just did not want to be confrontational about it.

Back watching this scene a year later because something completely unrelated reminded me of it. This is such an underrated moment in the Hobbit films. It's also a scene that seems so unassuming especially given how short it is, and yet the acting here is just incredible and adds so much to the characters' relationships and the story itself. Genuinely masterful filmwork here, all done within about a minute's time. I think it's moments like these that made me overall like the Hobbit films quite a lot, despite the bad rep they get. Martin Freeman and Ken Stott were absolutely perfectly cast.
