Eeh I can see where you're coming from but it's still too early to call, the beginning of P2 is peak CSM, it falls of ironically with the fall devil stuff but current arc is International Assassins tier in my opinion. I'll concede that it is significantly slower but there's so many moving parts and mysteries that it all could be worth it

⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️: I'll try to summarize Makima's plan here in 2 comments, and everything will make sense afterwards. I'll show how she directly and indirectly orchestrated it all - starting with the Eternity Devil arc. [Eternity Devil arc]: There's a very high likelihood that Makima planted the Eternity Devil in the hotel and had it eat the Gun Devil flesh to empower it. Here are some hints that Makima controlled the Eternity Devil: The devil instantly knew who Denji was (his name too) and it knew that he had Pochita as his heart, without even hearing him transform either. Anyway, Makimas' goal here was to presumably enclose everyone together with Denji. This fabricated environment forces Denji to create stronger bonds with everyone, especially with Aki and Power, by confining them. (If you forgot, Makima wants to de-humanize Denji by having them form a strong bond so that she can later take it all away from him, breaking the contract between him and Pochita). [Katana man arc]: (She staged this whole arc by distributing guns to Akane and the Yakuza). Here's a more in-depth explanation: To understand this arc better, it's worth remembering what was said in chapter 73. Makima explains that different countries all around the world own pieces of the Gun Devil and they're trying to gather more gun pieces than the other countries (it's basically like an arms race). We also know that the government distribute guns by selling them, with the sole intention of increasing fear of guns. The increase in fear will ultimately increase the power of the Gun Devil. Then, the nation in possession of more of the Gun Devils body will have the upper hand against other nations. So, what Makima does in this arc is distribute guns to Akane Sawatari (this is stated in chapter 33, page 19), and she, of course, didn't let Akane keep the memories of her providing the guns to them (by using the control ability ofc). There's also the fact that Makima made Akane surgically implant the Katana Devil into the Katana mans chest [chapter 36], and he was specifically chosen because he already has a rough past with Denji. (I doubt Makima needed to control Katana Man since she already has Akane Sawatari doing the job for her and had him on a 'leash'). Them being her pawns are also one of the reasons why she didn't kill them with the Shrine Ritual ability. Anyway, the attack on public safety began with Makima being shot first (This was used as her alibi, with Tendo, Kusore, and other bystanders as her witnesses when talking with Kishibe in chapter 32). All of this creates a Win-Win-Win situation: 1. she used the Gun devil more as a distraction, but doing this in turn increases the power of all the Gun pieces. (The stronger those gun pieces are, the more destruction they can cause when they make a contract with the Gun devil. It's just like what America did to Japan). 2. Makima creates a power vacuum in the public safety divisions. Now that the majority of humans are dead, all that's left is for her to do is take command over all the remaining divisions (This is perfectly explained in Chapter 28, pages 15 and 16). I'd imagine that this gives Makima more flexibility since she now commands over all the fiends and devils in all of the divisions, without any pesky humans suspecting her too much. She somewhat has no need for the devils/fiends (except for Spider Devil, Angel, and Beam. Beam, for example, is used to keep Denji under constant surveillance throughout the Bomb arc, and it's the reason he came in clutch and saved Denji from Reze before she transformed in chapter 44), but this outcome makes it easier to move all of the chess pieces without there being anyone eyeing her down (Kishibe basically). Blending into human society has a lot of benefits as a devil, so retaining it while progressing her goals is a priority. 3. Makimas' ultimate goal is to break Denjis contract with Pochita (the contract wants Denji to live out his dreams and be as happy/motivated as possible while chasing those dreams). From chapter 1 to the Katana man arc, Denji has formed various relationships, and he has gotten to know many different individuals. Now, the attack, orchestrated by Makima, carried out by Akane Sawatari and Katana Man, would undoubtedly result in numerous casualties. One of the major casualties was Himeno, and the other devil hunters he ate food with at the restaurant. While their deaths wouldn't completely shatter Denji's mental state, it would certainly leave significant cracks, as evidenced in Chapter 29, page 10. Makima's strategy seems to be gradually softening him, especially considering his previously 'hard' personality, where he remained indifferent to human casualties. After the mission, Snake devil killed Akane Sawatari in chapter 38 (Makima most certainly controlled Akane Sawatari to automatically be killed by the Snake Devil at the end of the mission. She gave the excuse that Akane died due to the contract she made with the Gun Devil, which is a straight-up lie since the gun Devil was already dead, xd.) Btw, this doesn't stop Makima from, ofcourse, retrieving Akane Sawatris's body and Katana Man since the two can still be of value to her. This is what happens in the Gun Devil arc, where Makima controls Akane Sawataris body to gain access to Snake devil who was used to end Gun devils life. (Happens in Chapter 76, page 11). She also utilizes Katana man, including the other Weapon Hybrids, in the Control Devil arc. [Bomb girl arc]: Makima could have stopped and eliminated the Russian assassin, Reze, much MUCH earlier in the story since she heard *everything*. (Makima confirms this at the end of the arc in chapter 52, when she says, "I like the Country Mouse too," meaning that she heard Reze and Denji talk about the country mouse and the city mouse, all the way back in chapter 42, while they were at the school). If she had killed Reze, it would have prevent massacres, and the damage the hurricane Devil caused, but she instead let it all transpire bcs she wanted to take advantage of Reze status as a Spy sent by USSR (which I'll talk more about in the next arc). Makima also didn't kill her because Denji was getting more and more attached to Reze, which gave Makima the opportunity to cause even more suffering to Denji, which would loosen the contract between Pochita and Denji. After Makima killed Reze at the end of the arc, she had Power visit the cafeteria, so that she'd cheer him up. [1/2]

[2/2] [Assassination arc]: Apart from some specific events like when Santa sent everyone to hell, Makima essentially created this arc since she published information internationally about Denji. (She could confidently do this without others suspecting her, because she blamed it on Reze to cover herself up). She essentially used Denji to bait out the assassins all around the world, (especially Quanxi due to Makima collecting hybrids like Pokémon), since they had the intention of retrieving Denji and stopping Makima from acquiring Pochita. However, Makimas' main intention of publishing Information on Denji/Chainsaw Man was so that she could later on turn him into a world-renowned heroic figure, which would weaken Pochita. This meant that she could have an easier time of succeeding in controlling Pochita after she broke the contract between them. (This is exactly what happens in the Control Devil arc, as she made the whole world idiolize him). Also, yes, it would seem that she was still keeping everyone in the planet under surveillance during this arc as well. (Evident by Kishibes' words ["Makima is listening], Santa Clause who was all the way in Germany in chapter 64, Makima knowing exactly where Tendo and Kurose where burried implying that she heard them being killed, and also when Makima mimicked the exact words said by Pingsti in chapter 60: ["A Corpse Is Talking"]). [Gun Devil arc]: It begins with Makima, in Chapter 73, revealing the Gun Devil’s status to the team. Then, in Chapter 74, she uses the controlled Angel Devil to lure Aki to the beach, setting the stage for the upcoming events and arc. After Makima succeeded in manipulating every country in the world and had them accept their fate [chaoter 74], she pressured the American president to play his final cards against her. He resorted to deploying the Gun Devil to nuke Japan as a last-ditch effort to stop her, even though it would achieve nothing but causing thousands of casualties. After succeeding in forcing a country to deploy their Gun Devil, Makima defeated it and had the Gun Devil specifically possess Aki's corpse, turning him into what he despised most - a Gun Fiend. (It’s also implied that she created several other fiends throughout Part 1, like the Violence Fiend, though I won’t delve into that here). Now that Denji, Aki, and Power have formed an inseparable family, due to Makima forcing them to live under the same roof, she decided that it was time to send the Gun Fiend, to battle Denji. Him being put in this situation, forced him to regretfully murder his own brother because he worried that Aki would kill even more innocents if he wasn't stopped. (The human eye-witnesses that survived would then spread the news to the word about how he killed the gun fiend as shown in chapter 89, making him more popular). Makima basically made Denji feel so much guilt to the point he blamed himself for what happened. His psyche then began to crumble, and his will to live and to continue on dreaming dwindled. Then the contract between him and Pochita started to weaken drastically). [Control Devil arc]: There's too much to cover in this arc, but in short, Makima made the exhausted and depressed denji come to her mansion, where she'd first make him happier by using her 7 huskies, and then she'd also grant him his wish for defeating the Gun 'devil'. Ofcourse, after everything he's been through, he chose to become her 'dog.' This was the only right answer for him, not only because Makima is the kindest person from his POV who gave him literally everything, but also because he doesn't want to think about anything related to his painful life and would rather remain blissfuly ignorant (explained more in detail in chapter 80-81). Denji still had Power left who he dearly cared for and was his last reason for living (especially now when Makima de-huminized him and took away his job, money, access to food, comfort, etc). Makima then had to ofcourse kill her ["Bang!"], and she made it so that Denji would indirectly assist her in killing Power by forcing him to "open the door." She then afterward rubs the salt in the wound by laughing right in his face and reminding him that he killed his own abusive and alcoholic father, which made him feel even more guilt. She, on top of that, ensured to tell him that any happiness or normality he experiences from that point on, she'll be the one to create it all and destroy it all. If he overcomes his grief and makes friends, she'll kill them immediately. If he gets married and starts a family, she won't allow his wife and children to live long. Fast forward, the contract between Denji and Pochita is broken. All that was left for her to do now was defeat Pochita to control him. Just a reminder that she never had to entirely go all out when fighting Pochita and resorted to using Hybrids, mostly because it resembled the fight they had in hell a long time ago, and because Makima now already had set up a contingency plan a few arcs before this, which involved making Chainsaw Man as famous as possible so that he's feared less, which would in turn weaken him. I explained this before, but she'd accomplish this by having everyone believe that Chainsaw man was the one who defeated the Gun Devil, etc. Fast forward again, she fights weakened "Pochita", and defeats him, which finally convinced her that she's superior to her 'hero'. Seconds before she controls him, the real Denji appears from the pile of corpses and then subdues her. (She never noticed him because all the Four horsemen can't remember the faces of Devils/Humans, which is why they rely on their strong sense of smell to distinguish between individuals. BUT, since Makima never bothered to remember his smell, Denji practically became invisible to her. He was nobody to her, but a simple tool. There're more details regarding this. But I'll exclude them for simplicity's sake). But yeah, I think that's everything for the summary of her plan, without going too much into details about the foreshadowing, some scenes having more than 1 meaning behind them, and so on.

Not spoiler, but do NOT forget which Devil the Class president made a contract with ('Justice' Devil). That’ll be very important later on, bcs you'll understand the influence a certain character has, even when this early in the manga. Iykyk. Edit: Unrelated, but it's interesting seeing the importance of the themes of parasocial relationships, loneliness, etc. Reminds me of how Makima (a fan) had this controlling and parasocial relationship with Pochita, the Hero of Hell. There's a parallel that can be made here too, with Denji (the hero) and his fans who have this parasocial relationship with him, efter he became a renowned hero when he defeated the 'Gun Devil'.

Since this video is the end of part 1, I'll go ahead and make an analysis comment on Makimas' character. This'll be divided into 2 parts, and i recommend you to read all of it to understand. To start, Makima enjoys anything related to equal relationships. The reason she cried during the movie Date with Denji is because the movie they were watching showed two people hugging each other (It's a relationship that she can never have for herself, considering that her nature as the Control Devil is to manipulate, govern and control others while seeing them as tools). On a side note, for some readers, they think of Makima as a devil who never cared for humans or the world in any shape or form. But, that is far from the truth. As surprising as this might sound, while Makima is a cruel, manipulative, and heartless devil (+ orchestrated everything in part 1), she still does have an immense love towards humanity, albeit it's a twisted kind of love. (Her love towards them is initially pure, but due to her nature as the Control Devil, she'll instead love humanity, "in the same way that humans like dogs" \[She says this in chapter 89\].) Also, Kishibe, in chapter 34, states that "Devils with humanlike appearances tend to be friendly to humans." The fact that Makimas devil form is *fully* human in appearance says enough about how much she loves humans (But again, it's twisted, because of her nature). Her whole goal at the end of the day - her dream - was to save humanity from itself. The suffering and anguish they'd inflict on themselves was rather unnecessary to her eyes, and so that's why she wished to use Pochitas' concept-erasure ability to erase all the bad concepts from existence - leaving only the good. In chapter 75, the president of America, when talking about Makimas dream, says that "the worst possible peace will descend upon humanity", which is super accurate because If all the bad never existed, then we wouldn't have anything to contrast with the good. Everything would lack depth, and our appreciation for the positive aspects of life would diminish. The struggles and challenges we face make the moments of joy and triumph all the more meaningful. They shape our experiences and teach us valuable lessons about resilience, empathy, and growth. That's also one of the reasons why Pochita/Denji, in chapter 93, asked the important question of if Makima would erase all the bad movies as well, and she ofcourse answered yes. Denji didn't appreciate this answer since the last movie that they had watched was only as impactful as it was since they had watched horrible movies prior. There's also the fact that the movie that Makima loved about Equal-relationships was not fully appreciated by any humans. This is why there were *no* humans on site while Denji and Makima were watching the last movie. There're likely two conclusions that can be taken away from this: Humans do not highly value equal-relationships just as much as Makima, and that the concepts Makima disregards and wishes to erase are, in fact, essential to humanity. This is somewhat unrelated, but the manga also emphasizes how she embodies "necessary evil," which we can see in her goal due to her choosing the lesser evil of harming Denji and other humans so that a larger percentage of humans can live a life of 'bliss' in another existence (they'll live a life of what she considers to be a life of bliss). This goal of Makima’s is not only beneficial for humanity in her eyes, but for herself as well, since she would finally see herself as equal to humans, which is one of the things she's always wanted as the Control Devil. Btw, you might ask yourself, wasn't Makima afraid of being eaten by Pochita and losing? The answer is no. Partly because she understands that Pochita doesn't want to erase the concept of control, as it's pivotal to hold the very fabric of reality together. However, being eaten and erased would also fulfill one of her dreams: Being consumed means that the concept of control would cease to exist. By sacrificing herself in this manner, she'd create a world where everyone is equal - where there are no longer masters nor slaves. No more tyrants wielding power, no more wars, no more oppressed masses living in fear. The rich and the poor, the powerful and the powerless, would all share the same fate, united in their equality. Yet, in idealizing a reality without control, she overlooked a fundamental truth: the world can not function without it. Animals, plants, humans - all rely on control to exist. Besides the potential collapse of the universe due to the absence of control, society would descend into disorder. Only true chaos and anarchy would remain. (It's also ironic how she admired Pochita due to how chaotic he was in her perspective. Chaos being the opposite of control). This is why Denji had to be the one to consume Makima out of love, instead of Pochita. In Denji's act of consuming Makima, there's a powerful metaphor at play as well. It represents his acceptance of responsibility, the acknowledgment that control, in its various forms, is an essential force in maintaining equilibrium in the world. Denji, comes to basically understand that control isn't inherently good or evil; rather, it's the wielder's intent that defines its nature. Anyway, by consuming Makima, Denji embraces the control. It's not just about domination or suppression but also about stewardship and guidance. That's why Denji's consumption of Makima serves as an important moment of growth and enlightenment (This is also one reason why, in part 2, he strives to avoid the "ignorance is bliss" mindset, althought maintaining this resolve proves challenging, which is undertandable). It's a testament to the inherent struggle between freedom and restraint, power, and responsibility. It's not about eradicating control altogether but rather about finding the delicate harmony between authority and liberty, ensuring that neither dominates at the expense of the other (Nayuta represents this quite well). [1/2]
@We_see_all
@We_see_all 11 сағат бұрын
Oh, I forgot to mention two more things: Some people will question how she'll ever acquire an equal relation after subduing Pochita and basically becoming a dictator/god by having full control over reality itself. Well, that's the thing. She won't. She never will. Makima's desire for an "equal relationship" is complex and somewhat contradictory. As the Control Devil, she inherently seeks to dominate and control others. However, this control isolates her, preventing her from forming genuine connections (This is also why she resorted to controlling Aki, The Hybrid, etc, into loving her even though she doesn't have to). By creating a world where she has absolute control, Makima believes she can achieve a sense of companionship and understanding on *her terms*. In her twisted logic, achieving control over everyone and everything allows her to set the stage for what *she* views as "equal" relationships, where her power ensures stability and harmony, even if it comes at the cost of free will. (The second best option is to erase herself, the embodiment of control, but neither relationships nor reality can exist without control). So basically, Makima's idea of equality is shaped by her nature and abilities as the Control Devil. She sees it as a way to bridge the gap between her and others, eliminating the chaos and unpredictability of free will, which she believes prevents true equality and mutual respect. It's a somewhat deeply flawed and tragic perspective, but it accurately shows the complexity of her character. (CHAINSAW MAN PART 2 SPOILERS): Now, If we compare Makima to Nayuta (A Part 2 Character), it offers an interesting perspective on the evolution of the Control Devil (Nature vs. Nurture). Nayuta, as a child, represents a chance for a different path. While she still possesses the inherent abilities and tendencies of the Control Devil, her upbringing and the influence of those around her for around 2 years, particularly Denji, provide hope for a more balanced and less tyrannical manifestation of control. This is why Chapters 153, 154, and 155 from the Church arc are so significant (I recommend rereading them to refresh your memory). These chapters show that Nayuta genuinely cares for Denji, and has managed to understand and even form an equal relationship with him, which is something that should 'almost' be impossible for the Control Devil. To do this, Nayuta sacrificed her goals of controlling Pochita to gain a better understanding of herself. However, Denji gave her the answer she was looking for: She is a family (It makes more sense if you read those three chapters i mentioned above). This is why Nayutas death is such a big deal, because it confirms that Nayuta and Denji had an actual equal relationship since his devastating emotions manage to break the contract between Pochita/Denji, unlike when Makima died. (Bonus: Denji didn't want to accept this reality and confirm her obvious death after he had been in a coma for a week, which is why he desperately sought to distract himself by pursuing superficial pleasures [Not bcs he'd purely enjoy it, but instead due to escapism]. His internal struggle reflects the depth of his connection with Nayuta; the thought of her loss was too painful to confront). Anyway, Nayuta's character development is crucial in understanding the potential for redemption and change within the Control Devil. Unlike Makima, who who has lived through countless realities [Chapter 84] and operates largely in isolation and manipulation, Nayuta is being raised in an environment where she can experience genuine care and relationships. This nurturing environment allowed Nayuta to develop a more empathetic understanding of control, potentially using her powers in a way that fosters true equality and mutual respect, rather than enforced subjugation and absolute domination (This is the only thing Makima has known throughout her very very long life). I could discuss how these two characters perfectly reflect Country Mouse vs City Mouse (which is hinted at too if you observe the image above), the society, and human tendencies regarding control, but that's a much longer conversation.

Fujimoto based Denji and Makimas' relationships on child abuse (he watched documentaries), so obviously, even after everything Makima did to him, he still couldn't bring himself to fully hate her due to all the grooming and abuse she put him through. While also giving him everything he wanted in life (before taking it away), which is accurate.

Fun Bible lore drop Revelation 6 *Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse* Tree of Life Version Conquest (Loss of Control), War, Famine, Death 6 Then I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” [a] 2 I looked, and behold, there was a white horse.[b] The one riding on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him. He went out as a conqueror so he might conquer. 3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, fiery red. The one riding on it was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another. He was given a great sword. 5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” And behold, I saw a black horse.[c] The one riding on it held a balance scale in his hand. 6 Then I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart[d] of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius-but do no harm to the oil and wine!”[e] 7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come!” 8 Behold, I saw a horse, pale greenish gray. The name of the one riding on it was Death, and Sheol was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword and by famine and by plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.[f] 9 When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those slaughtered[g] for the sake of the word of God and for the witness they had. 10 And they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “O Sovereign Master, holy and true, how long before You judge those who dwell on the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants was complete-their brothers and sisters who were to be killed as they had been. 12 I saw when the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became as black as sackcloth made of goat’s hair, and the full moon became like blood. 13 The stars of heaven fell to the earth like a fig tree drops unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14 The heaven ripped apart like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from their places. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the military commanders and the rich and the mighty and everyone-slave and free-hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. [h] 16 And they tell the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us[i] from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. 17 For the great day of their wrath has come,[j] and who is able to stand?”

I also felt that it was rushed when it dropped because I expected the “everyone vs freeza” type of fight, but on a re-read it feels like fujimoto was going for a subversion of the big boss fight. We already seen pochita mop up makima and loose due to her plan of weakening him and her immortality. So his plan took into consideration that a drawn out fight would cause more Japanese people to die every time she’s attacked and the fact that brute force wouldn’t work on her. It feels like he accounted for everything and that’s why it’s structured the way it is. Hopefully you can go back later down the line and re-experience the fight under a different lens

Have no clue why some dumbasses who are watching him live SPECIFICALLY to see how he reacts to reading the manga for the first time thinks it's okay to give information not revealed yet. Like if you can't control yourself then don't watch him react live. Why would you watch him live for his reaction and then make it so when he eventually gets to the chapter(s) you spoiled, he won't have a genuine first time reaction?

CSM is amazing and has some great fans that made the dope animations on youtube, but it's also filled with some of the worst dorks on the net. The first video I watched on the CSM anime had a comment that spoiled the entire way part 1 ends. I'm still enjoying the ride but no doubt a lot of the impact of Aki 47 and Makima's Bang were lost cuz I already knew it was coming.

Yes, Asa Mitaka is the main character on CSM Part 2 and War Devil is one of the main antagonist. edit: since people are arguing in the reply section, i'll delete this comment if it still going to avoid spoilers.

She’s more like a deuteragonist. Denji is still the overall main character
@Prince-Silly
@Prince-Silly 11 сағат бұрын
@shokyle calling her the main character is also correct since the basic meaning of deuteragonist is just 'second main character'....

I don't know if I would call Yoru an antagonist, especially not a main antagonist. Her relationship with Asa is way different from something like a Yuji/Sukuna situation. Yoru gets about just as much screen time as Asa, and they are both slowly changing due to their connection with one another.

To be honest we don’t know for certain who the main antagonist is yet. There are several characters who are at that level but it really feels like any of them could be main antagonist of the part

@vomilksined8047 oh no for sure there is peaks. I dare say part 2 is even better than part 1 aside from the later half with all the gun devil/makima scenes. I just feel like those are some very high peaks part 2 will have a hard time topping.

@@zigazdovc6175She's the embodiment of war, so I'd be surprised if war crimes and other more immoral stuff like in chapter 167, weren't depicted in the manga. She's a great character basically, but obviously not a good person despite how goofy she can get unlike her other sisters (which is also accurate for the War Devil too).

When you think of Denji eating Makima as an act of love, keep in mind that the author once said that when he was young his pet fish died. He bury it in a park but he saw some ants trying to eat it and got so sad that he decided to eat it, raw and out of the dirt. He then got sick and lied to his girlfriend about it. Eating someone so you can become one with them it's on point from this guy

Hisoka really cheesed the nen system. It took Kurapika an entire arc to kill two spiders. Hisoka did it in like two pages. If you think about it really hard, Hisoka is lowkey one of the only characters whose nen ability could actually try something like this. Also he kind of permanently has post-mortem nen amps. Post mortem nen flares up with explosive power until the remaining vestiges of aura fade. Because Hisoka is back alive, his aura never faded meaning he is likely around royal guard level rn.

Denjis heart to heart with Kobeni, the most normal one out of the cast has to be 1 of my favorite scenes ever. The boy who's been chasing normality all his life and sees his emotions as invalid only for the normal girl to tell him to stfu and that it's normal to feel miserable, a normal life isn't that amazing anyway. That was the conversation that changed Denji and it could only have come from Kobeni, whose life has been mostly normal. 1 of my favorite manga panels in Chainsaw Man.

Im sure some comments already ran over these but ill drop a couple. Denji has always had an issue with caring for people around him dying, so Reze was just another short term "friendship". Noone besides the readers benefit from a long drawn Makima death, Makima wouldnt care, Denji wouldnt want it and all the nameless JP citizen deaths. Not to mention the full colour panel of meat cuts with context is kinda WILD. The Black chainsawman + Power vs Makima fight was the real finale action segment.

I didn't have any problem with the ending - no need for some long epic shonen fight , also not a Makima hater . I'm also not having any issues with part 2 like some people do ... Chainsaw Man is probably one of my favorite mangas out there (though I've only read somewhere around 20 mangas 😅 )

Just so you know, because I don't think part 1 really elaborates on this as it's more of a throwaway line from Makima during her fight with Pochita,( so this isn't a spoiler) but she is one of the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse . Keep this in mind when you read Part 2.
