Customers berating minimum wage workers has always been a gripe with me.

I remember once an older bitch raised her voice against me, i raised my voice back, i went back to the office, another collegue shut the door of the office which gave me a chance to call her a slut. They gave me a first warning to intimidate me. So i resigned. I never got employed again by the way. Another bitch added me to facebook and linkedin after my resignation, but she didn't even say hi after i accepted the invitation, i think she had abandonment problems. I don't know what kind of people who do ugly things to you and behind your back and then expect you to love them or accept them. After so many years, i asked to meet with one of them to see a chance for employment, she didn't agree to meet me, i asked like three times, she said yes and then cancels at the last second. In any case, i hope they go to hell with their complexes. From that day on i had a real wish for anyone who hurts me behind my back to die. thinking about such people is like thinking about the sewer, they are the microbes without which the water is clean again. But not all instances require shouting back, i had an employer under my supervision shout at me, i didn't shout back, i resolved the issue because i wanted the job to be done. There was another bastard who raised his voice i shout back and kicked him out lol. So, it depends really on the situation, and the kind of person you're dealing with. If you dislike the person and you know that she or he dislike you or even hate you and wants to hurt you such negative situations are really unfavorable. However, if someone you don't hate or you just don't feel like they genuinely want to hurt you, shout at you or raise their voice then you don't retaliate, you just solve the issue. It happens, so it depends on the people.

“At some point you realize that this job just isn’t for you anymore.” Yep. For me it was when I was working at Target, my coworker received death threats, and we learned that there’s a “No Self Defense” policy that applies to us even when we’re off the clock.

Horrible customer service. Trust me there is a way and a how.

I have always found the ",more flies with honey" approach much more beneficial. Even when im thoroughly pissed at the situation, i try very hard to be nice and respectful to the person who is taking my call. My issue isnt with them, they don't make the rules and don't get paid enough to deal with rude BS. If i am nice, they will match my energy and try to be helpful.

She don't take no mess., but she need to learn to put her guards up because she had a big old smile on her face just before she got jacked up.

Years ago I worked in an auto parts store, and had a customer like this. I asked him his engine size so I could look up the part he wanted, and evidently embarassed that he didn't know it, said he'd already told me the make and model, and I had this big catalog in front of me, why couldn't I just look up his engine size and get him the part? After going around and around, with other customers behind him waiting for service, I finally explained to him that, while this big catalog did indeed have a lot of information in it, it didn't show a listing for 'Ron's car' that would tell me his car's engine size. He left.

The only reason that I can really think of as an employer that I would give to my employees to say they’re gonna have to make a choice between one job or the other would be if the employee was working for a direct competitor.

Back in the early 80's, I was an assistant mgr at a burger restaurant. When it came time for my night-shift employees (all black teenaged boys) to get their evaluations, the general mgr handed me their evaluations with the final number already filled in. Their numbers were low enough that they didn't get a ten-cent per hour raise, but not so terribly low that it would call for their immediate termination. I saw the day-shift's evaluations, and ALL his white teenage females got high scores and an hourly increase in pay. When it came time for my personal evaluation, it was terrible. I was doing an excellent job, and was rated below 50%. I reached in my pocket and pulled out my keys and handed them to the owner, and told him the general manager was lying (putting in false 'voids' in the registers to juggle the numbers) to get his bonuses and that after getting a fudged up evaluation like the one just presented, I could no longer work there, and walked out. At one point, the other assistant manager accepted a counterfeit $50 bill. The drive-thru cashier told her it was fake and she took it anyway. When I got to work the next day, the gen mgr wanted me to take the daily deposit to the bank. He ALWAYS went to the bank. I saw the counterfeit bill in the deposit bag, and accused him of trying to get ME to pass a counterfeit bill off to the bank. He said 'we don't KNOW that it's actually counterfeit...' When I got to the bank, the teller put her hand in the bag and immediately said 'there's a counterfeit bill on the bottom.' That's the day I learned the Secret Service is the government branch that investigates counterfeiting.
