I first heard about these drone displays a few days ago in a KZbin video concerning a drone show in China using 10197 drones. As in this video the drones created amazing displays. It is a great alternative to fireworks, the latter of which produce noise, pollution, and sometimes injuries. This was an informative video but I noticed one minor error in English usage. At 2:53 you misused the phrase "begs the question". What that phrase means is to use an argument that assumes the truth of the very thing you are trying to prove. That is clearly not what you meant; you were not trying to prove anything. You should have said "raises the question". If I had a dollar every time I saw someone misuse the phrase "begs the question" in this way I could retire.

These drone shows are awesome, but nothing beats the sheer wow factor of the sounds/visuals of a great fireworks display

At this point the cost is prohibitive for anyone, but those with deep pockets. I've been amazed at some of the shows I've seen, and they will continue to evolve until we have almost 100% photographic replicas in the sky. Now, and in the future, I like the shows that include minimal standard fireworks, but they are not essential. I love both, and whatever the shows of the future will be, I'm here for it! 👍✌🗽

You guys need to use MINI DRONES. About a million of them. 2 inch wide drones with 3 LEDs - green blue and red. With the option of lighting all three LEDs as a single color.

Its so insane how much it cost to build. Like, where the hell did all that money come from to fund it? Investors? And how long will it take to make that money back?

I'll say this. One thing a drone show doesn't do is upset the family pets. Dogs and cats are terrified of the explosion sounds that result from fireworks. The same noise can cause relapses in PTSD for veterans. There's also less waste material with drones.

this is the future of drone shows but also the future of full on war. imagine having 5000 drones all well spaced apart, spacing needed for anti drone attack missles, all with small bombs on each one, flowing over an entire city all with a designated gps target, talk about wreaking havoc on a full large city, what a weapon formation. quite the attack. for now lets just think on the good side of drones for earths humans to enjoy and not destroy.

The production costs and ticket prices are very high. It's not the future of entertainment until they can reproduce it at an affordable scale.

Now that I'm retired,, a widow and broke. And House less. I plan to get in my, new or old white trash, motorhome. And hit the road. When I was all of 12 and then again at 14. I visited Las Vegas with my mom and younger brother. We were old enough to be in the casinos.. So mom would have us stand outside on the sidewalk. As she played the slot machines just inside.. The open air wall. But we couldn't stand next to her. As we would be inside.. It was really stupid. But it was Awesome. With the original places. Before it became this New Modern Monstrosity of Opulence and Poverty.. And I very much desire. To go back and visit. And Gamble at least $20 worth. Which should get me through the first 30 seconds. With may be a hot dog and a beer? And I'll just look for money lying on the floor. Until they throw me out. And then on to the next, casino. And run out of money entirely. And have to get out to, BLM, long term, camping. What is it? Under $200 for, 6 months? That's about all I'll be able to afford. And lots of cans of, pork and beans. As you can never go wrong with those. They are the staff of life. And some tasty Spam that I despise. It's just too damned salty. I'd rather have beef jerky. And feel more rustic. Gnawing at a piece of dead muscle. From some sun dried critter. A cow a horse, a squirrel. It whatever is on hand. Or just stick them in the crockpot. With some vegetation. Pour a little beer in. But the Taliban and let it sit out in the sun all day.. Slow cooking. And by the time the sun goes down and you get hungry. You won't have enough light to see it. So just eat it. You won't want to see it. It'll look dead. And hopefully it will be savory. If you added herbs and spices. With the beer basting. Cook until the beer is nearly gone. Add a little flour add some dirt. And it makes gravy. Woodchips makes the best dirt. As it can be more savory. When it soaks up the juices. And you will get your fiber. And important vitamins and minerals. From the dirt. It's called a Full Course Meal. On the course. You have the meal. Fully.. Because there is no McDonald's. And you will surely die. If you don't eat that dead lizard you found. Three days ago. And camping out can be like that. If you don't have a motorhome. Though, one night. As I was starting to drift off around 3 AM. I suddenly realized. I had a pair of extra eyes looking at me in the bedroom down by my feet.. I thought isn't that cute? And then,, EYES!!! OH MY GOD! IT'S A GIANT RAT! No it's not it's got lots of teeth. It's a, Virginia opossum! In my bedroom! It looks like a giant rat! What the hell??? I changed a little after that. I got a little bit skittish. It was in my bedroom by my feet on the bed.. I don't leave any doors or windows open. This thing was as big as my late kitty cat. This would have definitely given my kitty a cardiac arrest. A rat bigger than her! With lots of teeth. And they growl and bark. And I remember one day. I was blissfully sitting in my motorhome. Enjoying the day as the sun goes down. And then I start smelling this smell. I know this smell. This is not a good smell. This is a skunk smell. And it's getting stronger and stronger and more potent. What the hell? And so I get out of the motorhome. It's wreaking outside. And I look underneath my motorhome. And there it is looking at me! At what it looks like a gigantic rat. But it is not a classic black/white skunk. It's more beige in color. But it's most definitely a skunk. I know that smell anywhere. And he's under my motorhome.. Oh God! I do want to make too much noise. It might scare it and it'll spray. And so I just got real quiet. The next day was gone. Never to return. Thank goodness. Should one use bear spray on a skunk? Only if you don't like your clothing. RemyRAD

We should sit back and enjoy this incredible Show Display. This is absolutely Stunning. I have to see it in person. I can't live without seeing this in person soon, one day. This is the most incredible choreography,, ever created.. It's got thousands of robotic ballet dancers. Who shine brightly.. In millions of different colors. At never having to use makeup remover. While a catastrophe can be created. At one of these spectacular shows. By a moron. With a Wi-Fi transmitter. They will need to have, RF Security in place. To prevent any calamities during one of these shows. As that would be pretty spectacular. 3000 dead drones showering down upon the crowd. That would not be good. Though I would love to have one of those drones for myself. I think I'll just go out and purchase my own. Rather than waiting for, manna from heaven. To fall upon my, idiot brain. And so I recommend safety glasses and hats. At all such events. They definitely have good batteries in those drones. For the shows to last the duration that they do. Under the control by the computer. I'm sure putting those drones to task. Above and beyond what any single operator would do flying a drone, ever. I mean how could you fly something like that? You couldn't. And because they are not exactly aerobatic either. And so all of their lighting has to be perfectly synchronized under radio control. It's just amazing. This is like flying, 3000 pixels of your, Computer Monitor. Above your head. I can't imagine what that looks like in person? Do not let, Chicken Little. See this display. While on LSD bird feed. That, chick will have a nervous breakdown. Because the sky is not falling! It's making cartoons. I loved the, Picture Portrait of the Arabian Sheiks. As thank goodness. They all look alike with the same checkerboard hairdos. Taylor Swift might be a little more challenging? Than some fatcat highroller Arab Oil Emirates. I'm just saying…… Just my observations. As a Tele-production Professional. And much easier color grading them.. You can never get them, too purple or, too green. They'll still look the same. So, easy to do with those Drones. I want to go to my first Burning Man.. But only if there's going to be a performance like that. Screw the rock 'n' roll . I recorded that stuff my whole life long,, career long. I don't need to hear anymore. I just need to be retired and have some fun. And enjoy the great outdoors. Conveniently Roughing it. With a,, 30 foot long motorhome. Because I like to rough it.. That was a good, informative video. To answer the last question, no, I do t think fireworks are threatened. I think the drones simply (not downplaying their complexity) add to the show. The fireworks will always be around, drones add another layer to the show, just like lights did as they started to advance.

There are dangers to everything, but we still fly, drive cars, etc. These things have become safer as technology advances. We cannot be afraid of advancing for fear of injury. We just need to learn from our mistakes and move on.

One big draw back I see, is that current drones are not fast enough to display large scale motion. Most videos of drones are speed up to create dramatic motion (ex. the drone dragon show). Either drones need to get faster or have more in the air spread out that come on & off to appear the display is moving. Kinda like pixels on a 3d screen. For now, I saw pair them with laser & fireworks.

It's hard to imaging what the state of the art in drone shows will be just a few years from now but I predict that high end drone shows will use smaller drones with enhanced situational awareness, allowing them to fly in tighter formations for higher pixel density, creating denser, more realistic imagery. Control systems will routinely use encryption and jam-resistance will be incorporated into the RF systems of the drones as well. They will have enhanced hack resistance and be more fault tolerant.
