Tom, I have a Mark VII alto, serial # ending 178, and I'm not too happy with the pitch. What mouthpiece and reed are you using for this demo? Thanks!🎷

I have and play a Conn (DJH modified) tenor made by Keilwerth in West Germany and it looks like a Couf Superba 1. I have no idea how it compares with the modern Keilwerth horns, but it has a very large bell and a very resonant sound. I’m intrigued by this horn in the video and I wonder what is the same or different. Also, how does the value compare? How much is this one being demonstrated and how much would mine be worth? I am probably not interested in selling my current horn, but am somewhat in the market for another horn if the right one comes along, and my Keilwerth (of sorts) has been just amazing. That sound!

does your super 20 have one octave key tone opening in the neck or two: one in the neck, one in the upper body?
@TonyAguirreJazz3 жыл бұрын
I am sorry, this video doesn't do the Keilwerth justice. Maybe a bad reed, MPC or something. These horns are canons.

I have an alto sx90r. It was made in the early 90s. I bought it in 2005 or so. That horn absolutely incredible. It has almost doubled in value since I got it, but I never want to sell it!

For such a beautiful sax, a better acoustic situation is needed, not the dry, unpleasant one offered. Aside from me - the Shadow sx90r has got to be one of the best-looking saxes ever!!!

Hi, I have a similar 1940 NY Otto Link Slant, #4 untouched. I have guys wanting to buy it in the $300 range, would you mind giving me an idea what it's worth? I understand sight unseen, good clean table and rails, no chips, logo in good condition. Thanks.
@Massullomusic5 жыл бұрын
Hello Robert, You are correct difficult to put a price on one of these without physically looking it over. The smaller tip openings typically do not fetch as much unless they have been opened up by a reputable mouthpiece maker/refacer. Have a look at current sold items on Ebay and this will give you a better idea.

Missed an important part of the cleaning ritual. You need to swab the neck also. Two sizes of swabs are needed for an effectual cleaning,

Great job guys! I am a fan of this Vancouver shop, I bought my Trevor James horn there and later a mouthpiece, love seeing all the tools and lathe when I walk in to the shop and talking with you guys about the music too! Thanks Tom for turning me on to Stanley Turrentine...best shop in Vancouver... keep up the great work!

I adore the unique interpretation of Autumn Leaves - "Les Feuilles Mortes", as the French will say. Jose, excellent improvisation, as usual. Your improvised opuscules from (American) Organic Real Jazz to Latin (Funk-Fusion) Jazz just amaze brilliantly - their perfection do. Jose, have you done any tune with bari? I shall be delighted to hear. Mr. "Baritone's" discourse develops progressively and relevantly. Nice work. Pianist is smooth - beautifully cool. The rhythm section is ultra-supportive and constant. Great Band - with beautifully compelling flute sound.

Dear Massullo Music, My name is Tom, I have a Gold coloured Jupiter Trumpet the m,odel is JTR- 300. I owned it for several years but not cleaned it much I was wondering there is some green looking dirt might be rust inside in one of the valves can be get rid of by just doing a usual cleaning maintenance and do you think it is safe to use or do you think buying a new valve or trumpet is much more sensible.
@57dogsbody8 жыл бұрын
Hey tom, no need to buy new valves or a new trumpet, all valves get that green deposit in the ports if you dont clean them for a long time. Buy a valve cleaning brush and scrub the ports out with washing up liquid (fairy liquid) then rinse with water ( try not to get the felts wet). If that doesnt do it take them to the shop and they will sort it out for you.
