Question for you! As someone with a bachelor's hons. in applied accounting from oxford brookes university England, and an ACCA, will I be valued in the US job market as an accountant? Or will I have to do my CPA first? Thanks!
@rylieconstance8 күн бұрын
If you don't want to do public accounting you do not need your CPA it won't be a requirement. If you think you might be interested in public accounting it's a great place to start! Most firms will fully pay or assist in paying for study materials and the exam, as well as let you study during slower times at work. Accountants are always in high demand 😊
@fareedahmadsiddiqui82688 күн бұрын
@@rylieconstance Awesome, yeah I don't plan on working in public accounting - just working outside practice. Thanks for the detailed response!

Hi Rylie! Thanks for putting in all the effort to show us how life is like as an accountant. Appreciate you including details about your work. Love the color of your eyes btw - I'm sure you get that all the time. Also, happy to hear that you don't want to support Starbucks-I'm personally boycotting them because they're funding genocide in Palestine.

Hello, I’m very new to the business world. I was perusing nursing, but am looking for other careers and accounting kept popping up. How can a CPA advance in their career? How is your work-life balance? Would you choose this career again?
@rylieconstance9 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! I actually do not have my CPA, but looking for staff accountant roles would be a great way to start. Every role has busy peaks whether it's month end, quarter end, year end, or busy season in public accounting. But the majority of the time it's a good work-life balance. I would choose this career again because there are a lot of opportunities, it can pay very well, and although it's occasionally quite busy there are a lot of slower times as well 😊

Did you feel confident stepping into the assistant controller role? Sometimes I worry I’m not good enough to apply for higher leadership positions even though I have my cpa and multiple years in accounting.
@AjBarcaКүн бұрын
You should go for it. I recently stepped into an assistant controller role myself after being a staff accountant and spending some time in internal audit. I am learning a lot and its only been about a month. You never feel ready, but you would be surprised how much you grow when faced with a new challenge.

Thank you for this information, I have a BBA and about to make the move to do my master in accounting to change careers all together but most ppl say they hate accounting or you have to work over 80 hrs in public accounting and that public accounting is the best route. But honestly Im just looking for stability and growth. I don’t mind having to start from the bottom I just want a career where I can climb the corporate ladder. I think you hit all the points that I needed to hear to finally make my decision. Thank you!
