Thank you for this information, I have a BBA and about to make the move to do my master in accounting to change careers all together but most ppl say they hate accounting or you have to work over 80 hrs in public accounting and that public accounting is the best route. But honestly Im just looking for stability and growth. I don’t mind having to start from the bottom I just want a career where I can climb the corporate ladder. I think you hit all the points that I needed to hear to finally make my decision. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your journey! I started in public accounting in tax at 52k after working as an intern there previously. That was 2018. Currently I’m a senior accountant in industry (recently promoted after being with this company almost 3 years now!). Now I’m making around 96k if I include 10% bonus.

Thank you Rylie, that was helpful. I am a foreign master's student majoring in accounting, I have maintained high GPA for my study because it is harder for foreigners to land a job in the U.S, I had no choice but study hard. Should I put GPA in my resume when searching for my first job? What do you suggest?

I would recommend including your GPA on your resume 😊

My question is can I get a remote job straight out of college. I'm currently taking online college courses to get a degree in accounting and I would like to work from home. Thats the whole reason I chose accounting above everything else. I want to work with people but not around people. You understand? I had a crazy career move and my previous job was doing installation work where I would go to customers homes and install things for them and I loved it but eventually it burned me out and dealing with angry customers who take out their frustrations on you because of something the company that hired you f'ed up on eventually turned me off from wanting to be around people so now I just want to work away from people but still work with people.
@rylieconstance2 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely!! Accounting is great option to find remote work and if you want to be a part of a team but you also have a lot of independence and don't need much interaction with other people on a regular basis

I start my accounting career at PwC in September as an auditor and I currently have no accounting experience. I have my bachelor’s in accounting and have the 150 credit hours but I am fighting myself about the CPA exam. I don’t really see myself working in public accounting my whole life so idk if I should even pursue the CPA license. What do you think I should do?
@rylieconstance2 ай бұрын
If you're unsure you can always study for the exam and get your license as a back up. Even if you leave public accounting other companies still love to see you have your CPA. BUT definitely don't feel pressured. I was the exact same way but I knew after about 6 months I didn't want another job in public accounting and to me it wasn't worth the time and effort. I still have never found myself needing it and it was the right decision for me. Try and weigh the pros and cons and ask yourself where you would like to be in the next few years
