My transparency: I gave $100 under my name when I thought it was for the HVAC and then another $50 under my cat's names when I thought it was possibly for the RV. This short is a holiday public service announcement ❤ If you are prepared to provide what an animal needs, be it kitten or cat, puppy or dog, rabbit or hamster or gerbil or guinea pig, then by all means do that. But don't get any animal without finding out what all will be expected from you. I remember when my now middle aged kids were little and begged for a puppy and a kitten, and I wanted them, too. But I didn't have the option to move into a home where pets were allowed. I couldn't snap my fingers and get a higher paying job. But I found out we could have gerbils and hamsters, so that's what we did. And we all had to learn all about how to properly care for them. We also had a parrot that I got talked into because he was in a bad home situation. I felt sorry for the bird, but honestly wasn't the right person for him. I knew nothing about them, but I found someone who is excellent with birds, and that man gave the parrot his perfect forever home. It was so sweet, because the man had a small bird who welcomed the big parrot, and the parrot followed that tiny bird everywhere. They snuggled together. The parrot could have snapped the smaller bird in half with his beak, the little bird was so tiny. But the parrot was still young, and regarded the little bird as his mommy. Parrots can live about 60 years, and have the intelligence of a toddler, but the person who originally got the parrot only did so because he thought it would be a cool thing to have. He thought it would start talking and do tricks, but he never thought he would have to spend hours bonding with the bird to earn its trust, and then would have to educate the bird like you have to educate your babies. He wasn't prepared for a real parrot with its squawking and flightiness, so he ended up sticking him in his cage _covered_ 24/7! The guy fed and watered the bird, but otherwise neglected the poor thing. So my neighbor who kept birds convinced him to give it up, but she didn't have room for another parrot in her own home, so I was really just doing the bird a clumsy favor. I honestly wasn't much better for the bird, but he could at least engage with my kids and me freely until I could find him the perfect home. People do that with kittens, too. They're cute when they're little, then they become sexually mature and the bipedals with opposable thumbs can't deal with it. Animals aren't toys!

Kim your a beautiful person both inside and out

I agree. My cat, Moneypenny, who passed at 18, and my dog, Cody at 13, were always there for me in sickness and health through richer and poorer, a divorce, my kids leaving home and so many other things. It's been 5 years since Cody passed and 7 since Moneypenny and I still really miss them. It did get easier in the sense that you eventually create a new life without them even though you don't want to, but you never really fill that hole in your heart all the way that was left when they're gone. I have since adopted 2 other cats and they help with the emptiness and bring me joy but they will never replace Cody and Moneypenny.😢❤
